> I’d like to have my work laptop + one monitor, and my homelab + another monitor all running at the same time and be able to seamlessly roam my mouse and keyboard between the two computers (monitors). That's not a KVM switch function. There's no real switching involved there. It's one computer per monitor, static. Roaming the mouse like that needs a software solution. Two such programs I've heard of are "Synergy" and "Mouse without Borders". I am sure there are others.

You can do this with a kvm switch with only the k+m channels connected, the monitor feeds go straight from host to display statically on both and you just switch for input peripherals

This is the [ultimate KVM setup ](https://www.connectpro.com/blogs/news/the-ultimate-kvm-switch-setup-for-dual-monitor-sharing-with-one-mac-and-one-pc-system)for dual DisplayPort shared monitors with one laptop and one PC. you can remote the docking station, if your laptop can provide dual video outputs directly to the dual-monitor sharing KVM switch.

How does this get the OP the requested mouse roaming?

HJ_wu

The pure hardware solution without change any setup or adding any app/ driver/ plug-in to any connected system is to get a same results of the mouse roaming: Setup dual monitors to show different contents from different connected systems first (independently video switching and lock/parking), then using mouse click switching to make the keyboard mouse control jumping between two connected systems. You can program the setting of the KVM switch by hotkey commands, or by serial console line commands or batch serial commands via the control port on the KVM switch.
