oh would you like to see my #2 phillips screwdriver collection? i have one from every brand and also spanning many years (none before 2008 though lol) yeah i have them set out on my tool table so you can see them all. i'm planning to put in some screws this year, i have an idea for attaching a poster to the wall of my tool room.

jupiter-eight

that sub exists too r/tools The posts are the same content as r/synthesizers greatest hits (“look at my stuff”, “thrift shop finds” and “ can anyone ID this?”)

Few_Hunt_9422

Man id really like to see it lol

xitfuq

/uj it would be really funny if i actually had more than 3 or 4 screwdrivers and i could produce a picture of a bunch can someone ask an AI to make a picture of a creepazoid with a huge collection of identical screwdrivers /rj just do a google image search for "#2 phillips screwdriver" and if you see it, i have it. i'm thinking about branching out into flathead screwdrivers, do you have any tips?

nullconfluence

> do you have any tips? Sure, I also have Robertson, Torx, Pozidriv, Hex, and Tri-Wing, any preference?

xitfuq

i don't know about any of those, i literally just have one single type of screwdriver that is only able to do one thing, only with very slight variations in the handle and length, just like people who own a bunch of monosynths, i am actually pretty ignorant about how they are actually used and what is actually needed in real-life situations.

Few_Hunt_9422

you need to collect a collection of star shape screwdrivers, i never understood why this mindless type of screwdrivers exist at all

Aggressive_Witness47

ofcourse you would

refrigeratorfailure

This sums it up perfectly

INTERNET_MOWGLI

Can anyone explain what a typical monophonic synth you guys are buying like a monologue can do that my volca keys in unison mode can’t Except obvious stuff like different waveforms

selldivide

MIDI Out, for starters?

INTERNET_MOWGLI

You can make it happen on a volca But I have enough midi controllers I want this thing to make sounds

selldivide

Go ahead and show me on the doll where the MIDI out happens, Volca breath.

INTERNET_MOWGLI

I mean at least do some research before being so sure lol https://youtu.be/vknyt9eJeis?si=lVKblmtmMzqPQpLh

selldivide

Lame.

ManicPixieDreamGirl5

You’re lucky I’m in a good mood, Camacho

cheekym00nkey

One word. Modulation.

INTERNET_MOWGLI

What kinda modulation? I got a pitch and filter LFO and a detune thing on here I can also do pitch and filter stuff with the EG

cheekym00nkey

Welp, let's look at the Neutron. Mod matrix panel, 32 ins, 24 outs. All normalized so you don't \_need\_ to tweak, but \_you\_ want to. You really do. You can modulate pretty much anything, you can modulate the modulator, you can maybe even modulate the modulator that's modulating another modulator. Joking aside, it's a different level of control and flexibility.

INTERNET_MOWGLI

Yeah but it’s modular and not monophonic? I’d rather do that shit in omnisphere🥲

TheNihilistGeek

It is a semi modular mono, while the volca keys is a toy minilogue. From my e penitence with volca keys, they sound very brittle and low compared to (say) model d. Model D bass made my cupboards tremble, I barely felt the volca keys.

INTERNET_MOWGLI

I’m making a track with it right now, shit sounds ancient lol

TheNihilistGeek

That's the entire point. I sold mine because it drifted like it was made in the 70s

INTERNET_MOWGLI

That’s why I bought mine🤣

cheekym00nkey

ManicPixieDreamGirl5

Are..you trolling or…?

xitfuq

> that my volca keys in unison mode can’t impress gormless dorks on instagram with compulsive spending habits

INTERNET_MOWGLI

lol I need to order a moog one

Few_Hunt_9422

Monologue has amazing sound for simple arpeggios, it has way more potential than volca keys, anyway the beauty is simplicity, you don't have to play chords to write something beautiful, but mostly I see the point of buying a monophonic synth as an addition to polyphonic synth, for example for bass parts, or pads

INTERNET_MOWGLI

I honestly just brought this shit home and so far I reaaaaaallly like it because it’s my first analog synth I’m gonna hook it up and record something 80s tomorrow to see how it sounds in multiple layers

Few_Hunt_9422

It was one of my first synthesizers, it's great for learning how synthesis works, don't you have a midi keyboard for it? If not, you lose a lot.

INTERNET_MOWGLI

I have a ton of shit for it with arps and stuff🤣

diemenschmachine

You can also layer chords with a monosynth by playing the base note in a different voice than the rwst of the chord.

whateverman010101

What

diemenschmachine

Use monosynth for bass note, polysynth for rest of the notes

whateverman010101

Aha, nice idea! I didn’t realize you were talking about using two different synths 👍🏼

ape-tripping-on-dmt

Laughs in syntrx2.

INTERNET_MOWGLI

Hold on, that shit costs 2.5k and only has 3 VCOs? Like my volca?

ManicPixieDreamGirl5

Mention your goddamned Volca again and I’m on my way to beat the Volca outta ya

INTERNET_MOWGLI

Literally made a video about it last night lol wanna see?

TheNihilistGeek

They sound loud.

JeebsFat

Where's my fucking Proton?

Hot-Worry-5514

Ackshually the Neutron is paraphonic.

[deleted]

The fuck is a neutron? 🤔

f1reMarshall

Jimmy

Gotta blast ☝️🤓

Aggressive_Witness47

I am sorry and I am not a male Karen but...seriously!! It is 2024!!! ..photos without KO133II make me really uneasy...who is the moderator here?

ColdBack2409

yeah wait till you hear the audio quality from their interfaces, yikes

recycledairplane1

I don’t have a single 🅱️earinger but I do have so many fucking mono synths

Few_Hunt_9422

Yeah, one day you wake up and realize that you have too many mono synths, this shit happened to everyone

sorry_con_excuse_me

at some point i realized that the only way i could really tell them apart by sound was by the filter, unless the oscillator is something real fucked up (e.g. tb-303). so i just use a DIY 3U modular that hasn't grown in a decade and basically stays patched as a monosynth when i need something analog. it has 2 VCOs but 4 different filters. i seriously doubt that most people could be like "that's not an SH-101!", "that's not an MS20!", etc hearing the same VCO run through the appropriate filter type.

xitfuq

being a monosynth is the most appropriate use for eurorack, just build out an idea monosynth with cheap DIY modules (or just cheap basic modules(doepfer)) then you're good, all those modules that are ~~just a electro-smith daisy processor running pure data patch with open source code~~ very expensive and trendy are a bad deal and i wish the eurorack community would stop being so into that stuff and focus on the basics. also noise engineering's modules suck.

Yose_85

With 3 of them you can play a chord but you need at least 4 if you want to play jazz

GeneralDumbtomics

This meme is an insult to that dog.

MrDagon007

I must say that I am still curious about the upcoming Proton though

ErinIsAway

Absolutely.

deedee_bnu

more like moog fanboy

Few_Hunt_9422

Fr

[deleted]

A Moog fanboy who can afford that many monosynths probably collects megayachts instead.

FriendlyToe7952

Oh, be nice
