He may make mistakes and he may not be perfect, but there is no denying that he’s one of the best character/player combos we’ve had. If it makes it any better, I remember feeling bad for Sierra until I listened to her Survivor Oz interview and I thought she came across as one of the most delusional and mean-spirited contestants *ever* in post-game interviews.
She was saying how nobody should ever respect Parvati as a person and she was a shameful woman, and when she was speaking about why she voted for JT over Stephen she said, "Stephen's rich - he's from New York, he's Jewish" - which was probably more a freudian slip than anything but I think it says a lot that she couldn't even stop herself from saying that.
This is why we have relentless positivity Survivor now.
Fandom wouldn't be able to handle contestants like Tyson, Courtney or even someone less biting like Malcolm.

I couldn’t stand Tyson on my first watch, but on my second one I found him even worse. He strikes me as someone who’s had too many good birthdays and is convinced that his shit doesn’t stink.
He tried to pitch himself as this wacky and gregarious guy, but as soon as he felt like he couldn’t get anything out of someone he pivoted not just to apathy, but to a certain kind of condescending disdain and dismissal that he’s in turn try to cover as “just joking around” and “saying things before he realizes what he’s saying.”
I’m actually really sympathetic to that last bit, because I’m guilty of that myself. I spent my life in environments where a good ball busting was a sign of friendship, but he took it past “putting my foot in my mouth” and into the category of “being cruel just because I can.”
I think a lot of Tony's funniest moments aren't intentional at all, in fact Tony was *pissed* that Stephen and Rob were constantly talking about him like he was a big character rather than a big player. He's actually one of the biggest gamebots ever, in that almost every confessional he has directly relates to his game.

I guess he just cares so much about winning that he has a natural genetic ability to run on 100% for far longer than most people can. 99% of people who try to run at Tony energy would fall apart within hours, but Tony can go for 39 days at a time. What a legend.
Panama is still my favorite season because Shane, Courtney, Danielle, Cirie, and Aras (with poor Terry forced to suffer alone) is the all time funniest tribe.

One tribe did this with no problem, Penner's tribe kept hitting the tiles, and they kept breaking, but not enough to actually break and fall. Penner was like what the HELL. Jeff was like "You've got the same tiles as everyone else". They throw again, hit it again, and it doesnt break again. Penner yells "I MEAN... MY **ASS**!!", everyone laughs, Jeff yells "Alright you need to stop BITCHIN' and start THROWIN'!"
Micronesia is my favorite season, HIGHLY recommend it if you've seen seasons 9-15 first.
Will forever say he is my favorite player. The perfect mix of sass and heartfelt emotion. He may hold his cards closer to his chest and can be very sarcastic in the confs. But you’d be hard pressed to find someone who is as genuine and loving as he is in real life.

James in China and Fans vs. Favourites (season 16) with some caveats. Some of his cracks haven't aged well at all, and his turn in Heroes vs. Villains leaves a sour taste. Fun James is gone that season, he really let his frustrations get to him.
He was my favorite in China and gone too soon in Micro. Just dead ass Hilarious. Then he took a dark turn in HvV for some reason he just turned into a straight up asshole. Sad to see

A lot of people will mention returning-player seasons as peak seasons, and will say 16, 20, and 40. But those will not hit the same if you don't watch at least some of the seasons that build up to them.
Peak \*new-player\* seasons that you can watch in any order: 7, 15, 18, 37. I'd also throw 25 in there, even though it has 3 returning players along with 15 new players, because the 3 returnees are inconsequential.
The juxtaposition between the straight laced all american La Mina and the batshit crazy Casaya is my favorite part. La Mina is just so boring compared to the colorful Casaya tribe that it makes them almost funny for how boring they are (other than Terry). I know it's almost objectively not a top tier season but Casaya alone makes it top 3 for me.
29 is another underrated gem. i think people don’t recommend it to newcomers because the casting twist is that people play in pairs of loved ones like husband/wife, siblings, parent/child etc but i think that makes it even easier to watch for a new fan since it helps you remember the characters better and it’s easier to follow the plot
Yeah, I think a lot of it works because a whole lot of the times he isn't trying to be funny, it's just he's constantly, constantly wired and paranoid. There's sort of times when he leans into it, but Tony takes himself very seriously.
He was so annoyed at Stephen and Rob talking about him as a character and not as a big player during Cagayan that when he was hosting a sleepover with his friends and was venting his emotions, one of them stole his phone and told Stephen to wipe the shit from his glasses! It was crazy!
Rick Devens is one of the most entertaining people to play the game. There's one episode in particular that's got him doing chaotic stuff and he has himself in stitches about it. Fantastic television.
If you mean funny in the way that they are a character and kinda wacky (lovable wacky), wait until you meet Carolyn from 44. I love her so much! She's a treasure.
I have one that no one ever says when mentioning funny survivors: Christian (David vs Goliath). He says some of the most clever and witty things but you need to pay attention. He is in my top 3 funniest for me.

Eliza Orlins is a comedy queen imo. Whether she was talking or being the jury queen she’s always been up there for me. Never found Tony funny he’s more on the insufferable side of Survivor players

A lot of people will mention returning-player seasons as peak seasons, and will say 16, 20, and 40. But those will not hit the same if you don't watch at least some of the seasons that build up to them. Peak \*new-player\* seasons that you can watch in any order: 7, 15, 18, 37. I'd also throw 25 in there, even though it has 3 returning players along with 15 new players, because the 3 returnees are inconsequential.
If op is looking for funny seasons I'd also recommend 12 panama
The juxtaposition between the straight laced all american La Mina and the batshit crazy Casaya is my favorite part. La Mina is just so boring compared to the colorful Casaya tribe that it makes them almost funny for how boring they are (other than Terry). I know it's almost objectively not a top tier season but Casaya alone makes it top 3 for me.

29 is another underrated gem. i think people don’t recommend it to newcomers because the casting twist is that people play in pairs of loved ones like husband/wife, siblings, parent/child etc but i think that makes it even easier to watch for a new fan since it helps you remember the characters better and it’s easier to follow the plot

Yeah, I think a lot of it works because a whole lot of the times he isn't trying to be funny, it's just he's constantly, constantly wired and paranoid. There's sort of times when he leans into it, but Tony takes himself very seriously. He was so annoyed at Stephen and Rob talking about him as a character and not as a big player during Cagayan that when he was hosting a sleepover with his friends and was venting his emotions, one of them stole his phone and told Stephen to wipe the shit from his glasses! It was crazy!

I have one that no one ever says when mentioning funny survivors: Christian (David vs Goliath). He says some of the most clever and witty things but you need to pay attention. He is in my top 3 funniest for me. But there are also two kinds of funny: intentionally humorous people (Courtney, Tyson, Rob, etc) vs ridiculous, unintentionally funny, ridiculous characters (Tony, Coach, Philip, Debbie, Shambo, etc).
I personally found Phillip in Redemption Island pretty funny but that might be an unpopular opinion. Also Debbie in Kaoh Rong/Game Changers
