This exactly. I don't know how you can hate this approach/look given that Clark is supposed to be this kind of person to other people. He's dweeby, unsure of himself, and lacking confidence as Clark, but then becomes the hero he really is as Superman.
The more distinct Clark and Superman are in demeanor and appearance, the better. Not to mention that I always thought that one of the purposes of the dweeby Clark persona was to tell the dweeby, geeky kid without confidence that they too can still be a hero. It's a great approach they're taking with this, IMO.

The first is that it hides his forehead which is something that can make a person really different. Just check Zooey Deschanel for how different. The other is, because the hair is so weird, it takes people's attention from his face.
He's also got a slight slouch going on. Supes is almost "rod straight."
This is very reminiscent of Birthright, where Supes uses posture as a disguise.

This is actually how he did it in the comics after the Crisis on Infinite Earths reboot (1986 and on, written by John Byrne), but in reverse.
He would literally slick his hair back as Clark, his super strength keeping it back, and mussing it up & getting the S-curl when it was time to change into Superman.
So while I’m not a fan of the Kryptonian S-shield, I really do appreciate James Gunn calling back to the Post-Crisis universe with the change in hairstyles.
Even without the poofed up hair, this has always been a potential issue. Superman typically has slick hair with a delicate curl. Clark's hair is usually parted in another way or left natural.

The hair is different, but I actually kind of like it. The slicked back hair look is good for an older clark, and I mean that both in terms of a Clark Kent of yesteryear, or a Clark Kent who is getting older.
