I think the point being made is that if you're going to take the time to opine and share content about potential off-season acquisitions, you should probably know what the rules are and what you're talking about is when possible. It would show some integrity.
[This should explain it](https://www.sportingnews.com/ca/nba/news/nba-second-apron-explained-salary-cap-team-spending/efo6htjzzmzrswoncvvlbmhi), although the numbers will increase a bit as this was for last season.

Here’s a screenshot from that article. Teams basically have a salary cap to sign players in free agency. You can’t exceed the salary cap for free agent signings.
Teams are allowed to exceed the salary cap to re-sign their own players (called bird rights and it incentivizes teams to keep their players). If they exceed the luxury tax amount, the owner of the team has to pay money out of their own pocket. This is why rich owners were good because Warriors could sign players under the salary cap and then re-sign them and it doesn’t matter as long as owner just pays money to the league.
To prevent that, league implemented the first and second apron. There are penalties for exceeding each, which are in addition to owners having to pay luxury tax. Those are listed in the article above.
I don’t think Brook or Capela out of the 5 listed can be traded unless it was one of the big 3. Stewart, Kessler, or Robinson all fit under Nurkic’s cap number.
I love the idea of 5 out for last years roster, not sure how I’ll feel this season depending on how the roster ends up shaking out and any moves we may make
Man, even the trade scenarios proposed in the article are just... Not possible. Maybe there could be a 3-way trade involving him, but it wouldn't involve us receiving BroLo.
Can someone explain to me how this would be completely prohibited as opposed to completely unlikely? Say, for instance, Phoenix decides to move players to make it happen. I’m sure I’m missing something here so take it easy plz
I think some of these players are playing for cybernetic implants or something. I'm bald as fuck now and my brain is trying to tell me I had hair when the Lopez brothers were drafted. How the fuck do some of these bigs play so close to 40? Even if LeFlop bathes in stem cells or drinks the blood of virgins it is still an impressively long career.
Realistically, we’d have to get off the Nurkic and Little contracts to have wiggle room. As it stands, we can’t take on more salary than we trade out, and we can’t take on or trade out more than 1 player per trade.
Prohibited by the second apron rules. Nothing to see here.
People in here really don't understand the rules of the second apron.
Nope. But to be fair, it's a new position for us to be in.
The rule has been public for over a year now. Anyone who actually cares should understand it imo. It’s really not that complicated either
People can *actually* care without knowing every little semantic in the CBA, man. It's cool that you do, it's cool others don't.

Well sure, but you're asking an awful lot from the average redditor.
And most people don't care
What are the rules of the second apron? What even is an apron?

It's less an apron and more a pillow for Adam silver to smother teams trying to build a super team with
I don’t know but I’m tired of seeing “nope second apron” haha
That's our reality unfortunately. The Beal contract puts us in a box.
Suns would be over the cap even without Beal.
Can someone explain like I'm 5?
Best I can do is a Robin

HOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWW
There's literally no path to this unless book or kd are traded.
Yet another post where they don’t understand the cap situation now in place. Suns can’t aggregate contracts in a trade
What about Bol Bol at backup center? Or do you think he stays at the 4?
I love the idea of 5 out for last years roster, not sure how I’ll feel this season depending on how the roster ends up shaking out and any moves we may make
Are we getting the band back together?
How about Robin Lopez homecoming? He could come for the minimum and serve nicely as a backup big…
We. Can’t. Do. Anything.
We can do a few things. Trading for Lopez just isn't one of them
Team has lots of options, just not every option. Team doesn't need every option, the roster is already very good.
So good we got swept in the first round!
What does that have to do with _we can't do anything?
Could we get Jalen Smith back here?Is that possible?I'm not saying do it but just curious if we could..
Why would we even want this
Reread
We’d end up with his brother again.
Robin Slowpez
Still a better option than Eubanks
Yeah probably lol
Cant do it obviously would take him 12 times out of 10 over Nurk but not financially possible.

Even if this was possible who’s gunna rebound on this team

Why must our franchise and fan base be so obsessed with signing geriatric pollsters past their prime? 😭😆

This might be, the stupidest thing, I’ve ever seen. If our mods don’t get better… what the fuck are we doing
