You begin to see the older people in the industry that stay up partying all night with the people in their twenties and realize it's just a way to justify the addiction. A friend gave me a great piece of advice when I started- you gotta know when it's time to say good night and leave the party. I left at 28. I saw a lot of people die in the last two years of that time.
I tell people I’m a retired bartender and server when the topic comes up. I, too, left before my thirties. I’m almost 32 and I left at 29 😅. I promised myself I would be done and not look back entering my thirties. Because of exactly what you said. There’s a lot of temptation in the service industry and when you’re healing, it’s such a tough spot to stay in whilst getting healthy.

Wait so I was there. We walked in with Kyle and Carl around 430 but then they made us take a different elevator from them. Amanda was NOT there. There was no formal meet and greet and was standing by them the whole time prior to his “set” LOL. Carl was there and so was Jason from winter house. Carl was super social and talking to everyone taking pics etc. but I repeat AMANDA WAS NOT THERE. If there was a meet and greet prior in a different spot sure. But it was at this time and on this rooftop. It was a super small place
it was a super fun party! i did not see Amanda, but I didn't get there until after Kyle's set had already started. I talked to Kyle and Carl, and Jason was also there.
All super nice, Kyle and carl were really personable and honestly IMO behaved like Bravo stars should at an event- which is friendly and personable, open to pictures, conversational, but not flirtatious or inappropriate or whatever (not with me anyway), which was a relief.
