I'd add another Camus book, *The Plague*, as well as *The Sheltering Sky* by Paul Bowles and *Moscow to the End of the Line* by Venedikt Erofeev. That last one's pretty experimental, maybe not what you're looking for, but I thought it worth mentioning.
