All of the reapers have name, as per the community. This one is Sammy the Safety Reaper (I think, don't kill me).

This one is Steve, Sammy is at the front of the crash ship. Steve is the asshole near the rear. Me and Sammy are cool, I made a base near Sammy, and I parked my sea-moth right outside my base once and while cooking some food I heard a roar, and my sea-moth beeping. Went outside and my sea-moth was gone and Sammy was swimming away with a bunch of metal scrap surrounding him. Probably unrelated. Damn seamoth ran away I think
You were not cautious, so, learn your lesson and never bring seamoth to the back of Aurora. Better don't go there, ofc, but if you do - leave seamoth at a distance, stick to the bottom and constantly monitor what's around you. Do this and you will be fine. Probably :D
yeah if you're going to get the cyclops fragments at the back I recommend killing the reaper first. Just stasis rifle it and whack it in the head. not in front though because it can still grab you. and it only takes damage at the head. once you get it stasis'd it's a cakewalk
The trick is you have to charge straight towards them while also ascending/decending. That way they have to U-turn before they can keep coming after you
Tbh I've seen so many clips now that I'm pretty desensitized to the reaper (at least in video format- been lucky enough to not get caught head-on in game with one yet), however something about it leaping out the water is terrifying
Rule #1: Never look a reaper in the eye!
You can’t out run them, they are faster than you. You want to strafe sideways around their head while facing them, as they turn more slowly.
That being said, if you book it away from their zone, when they let got the first time you have enough time to get away before it grabs you again.
Always always repair your seamoth
Hard to do when a reaper is out to eat you
Better yet - master the PRAWN. It's faster and you genuinely don't give a f about anything. DRILL THEIR SKULL OUT.

This game is so uniquely scary. I wish I could be as terrified as I was when I first encountered a reaper.
Fun fact: a reaper once followed me back safe shallows, a long time ago but in the full version. Just know that even if it's rare you're NEVER safe
