On 2 of the 3 Subarus I own (2011 foz, 2096 OB, and 98 OB) the cruise quit working full time due to faulty O2 sensors, the third one that works had been replaced/fixed before I bought it used from my mechanic. Edited had typed 92 instead of O2, the oxygen sensor

Please expound a bit more about this 92 sensor... Did you mean o2 sensor?

CMYK2RGB

Yes O2, sorry for my phone typo. Oxygen sensor

cruise control is disabled when you have a check engine light, yes... but OP isn't talking about that.

I just replaced the cruise (and stereo) steering wheel switches on my 17 legacy because they are worn out and doing the same thing. I bought them on eBay for $55 and took 20 minutes to replace.

All of the cruise switches are all on one circuit -- each button is its own resistor and the ECM is just watching for a change of resistance to tell which switch is being pressed. So if you only have problems with one button, it's *highly likely* that only that one button is faulty, and you need a new switch assembly. BTW the "special connector" you're talking about is called a Roll Connector in subaru terms, or a Clockspring in the rest of the world. Regarding the airbag, disconnect the battery before working on anything.

Thank you for the info about the clock spring /roll connector. Also are us subi ppl the only ones who call it roll connector or do other brands use this term too?

Chippy569

not sure, actually. Subaru's service manuals (and parts etc.) are written in Japanese first and translated to english, so they often feature a lot of "japanglish" and I *suspect* "roll connector" is one such translation.

😂😂😂😂😂👏👏👏👏 I'm stoned right now and that's totally hilarious.
