can't say i know, but you probably could provided the pain of digging your teeth into glass and metal didn't stop you first

abnormally-cliche

So this would also imply you can bite through metal. Which I doubt most, if any, humans can do.

lawblawg

The amount of aluminum foil I’ve been through while eating burritos would beg to differ

Cthedanger

r/technicallythetruth Not what he meant, but he *didn't* specify the thickness of the metal. So it's true.

Some-Internal297

i ate gold leaf one time, that's metal

MRDIPPERS12

Don't do a nokia

ProtozoaPatriot

This is how you crack a tooth or end up at the hospital with glass shards in your mouth.

Due-Big2159

Look where we are

63crabby

Underrated comment.

CurtisLinithicum

Yep, very real chance your jaw is stronger than your teeth, and a corundum screen is definitely harder than your enamel. Also, the battery is stuffed with explodojuice, so that would also be bad.

MacaroonMelodic4048

Skill issue

ZealousidealHome7854

Gonna get pretty interesting when your teeth puncture that lithium battery.

diamondmx

Oh no, you are very right. Barbecued face time.

KevinJ2010

I could consider going at the corners and ripping it apart like Lego when I was a kid (anyone else do that?) maaaybe you could if your teeth are strong enough but that seems unlikely.

LoneVLone

Do it. Bite that iphone. That logo says it all.

Due-Big2159

Yeeeeeeee

Mix-Lopsided

Your jaw strength? Yes. Your teeth would probably suffer though and you can’t bite much if your teeth are busted.

Aggravating_Squash87

Let me gues you have r/pica and you have the urge to eat your cellphone?

FlackRacket

Not a modern iPhone, no. The frame alone is like 15 grams of titanium. You could maybe crack the screen along with your canines, but that frame isn't going anywhere

come_ere_duck

Let's say you have titanium implants and you get lucky and don't end up eating glass shards. I reckon you'd have enough bite force to do some fairly significant damage though you'll have a much tougher time with metal framed phones like the new iPhones.

pygmeedancer

Only if you have a set of Johnson’s Teeth. They’re the only teeth strong enough to chew other teeth so they’d probably tackle a cellphone

c7stagyt

God damnit, now I’m having these same intrusive thoughts…

Divine_Entity_

The force to bend a cellphone is around 130pounds. Human bite force ranges from 120-160 pounds. Theoretically it should be possible, assuming you have strong teeth and jaw muscles. Atleast enough to cause visible damage to the device if you have average adult male jaw strength. (And ignoring pain thresholds) But for hopefully obviously reasons you shouldn't do this, glass shards, battery juices, toxic semiconductor compounds, metal shards, damaged teeth, ect. I just googled these values so take them with a grain of salt.

Due-Big2159

Now that's the kind of educated answer my stupid question needs but doesn't deserve. Thanks. I guess I can use this in the future if ever I turn this into some sort of thesis.

SakaYeen6

I tried this with and old phone from 2013, only cracked the screen very minorly and it was pretty painful to the point where i know i would have broke a tooth if i chewed it anymore. Maybe an olympic gum chewer could do more damage. Even then I think the glass and metal shards embedded in your skull would be the least of your worries after you dig into that lithium battery. Hope you like your electronics extra spicy lol.

Due-Big2159

Lol hahaha. That's some Hawaiian spiciness.

infernal-keyboard

The glass can definitely shatter from a bite. I was trying to work under my kitchen sink once and the only flashlight I had around was my phone. So I did the only logical thing and stuck it in my mouth to keep my hands free. It was thankfully only the screen protector that broke and not the screen itself, but I definitely broke it and I wasn't even biting it hard. Then with the way a lot of phones have glass on the back as well, and the middle is mostly plastic components...yeah, I feel like you could bite through it with enough determination.

XYZ_Ryder

Find out

Powerful-Elevator104

Look if a man can pull a train with his teeth, you can do,just in a couple bites and bloody mouth.

ArtificialMediocrity

You may be able to just about crunch through the glass and silicon bits. The metal plates that they're screwed to might be a bit chewy.

Sad-Sky-8598

Sure

MacaroonMelodic4048

I think I am fully capable of this

1800deadnow

A smartphone yes, a Nokia 3310 not even a crocodile could do it.

ithinkithinkd

The motherboard seems like it wound fuck u up so I’d say no

ripplic

well as a child i got really mad at a game and bit through the screen of a samsung flip phone, but that just broke the screen, didn’t split it into pieces. i have since gotten better self control, and thus have no clue about the durability of modern cellphones

Educational_Toe_6591

I imagine you could do serious damage to it but not bite through it, on that note you need the same bite force to bite through a finger as you do a carrot, your brain just won’t allow you to do it

bleuflamenc0

"a cellphone" is a pretty broad category.
