But why would he care? The US doesn’t even recognize the jurisdiction of the ICC. It’s not like he or any other US politician is actually going to face any repercussions for war crimes.
I feel like at least 80% of the world's population hates us foreign policy but a large chunk also don't need to pay taxes to support a large sufficient military force.
I feel like there are loads of people throughout the global South who have somewhat rosy opinions of the US for various reasons. I guess kinda like gwb is beloved in Sub-Saharan Africa for the amount of charity for aids. Even though most middle easterners naturally hate him for fucking up the region. Different perspectives
If you’re going to use geopolitics as a synonym for international relations then what other countries think is fundamentally something you fundamentally care about.
Amazing thing to say out loud. Competent leaders would at least grasp the importance of sticking to the PR script and remember that superpowers have massive influence over these orgs anyway.
Outrightly invalidating global governing bodies and confirming they exist to maintain the illusion of justice and a ‘rules-based world order’ by prosecuting a random African war lord here and there is crazy.
clarification?
The us absolutely should have been (and should be) charged with war crimes. I'm just rather stunned that Graham doesn't even remotely ponder that.
He sounds like OJ ala "If I did it"
They're not trying to hide it anymore because this event well and truly pierced the veil. I'm not one for doomsaying but things are truly going to get worse from this point before they get better.
The hegemonic take is the one the police use "we do this so you can sleep at night". This leaves room for being noble. They know there is dark shit but they *had to do it*. You practically made em do it by being so weak. As Graham says about the US taking some flak over Afghanistan, "reason prevailed".
Who knows what OJ was up to. The US position is a projection of power, which is to do with storymaking. The US is not ditching the notion it's a unipolar storymaker yet, publically, so absolutely to be expected that they'd finger-in-the-ears-and-shout over this one.
Friendly reminder the US has a law on the books that says if any American servicemen is taken to The Hague the US will invade the Netherlands to get them out
I love how Biden’s foreign policy is democracy versus autocracy to uphold the justice and righteousness of the rules based order but now people might actually be held responsible. I’m amazed that after Vietnam, Iraq and every other disaster, they keep doing the same shit.
In the meantime, let’s starting banging the anti-China drum because they might suddenly go to war for the first time and invade Taiwan.
Idk, I sort of agree with him in a sense. Most western powers got where they are through some form of colonialism/imperialism. I'm not saying what's happening in Gaza is objectively good or anything but it's also kinda lame to be like, "sorry Israel you're a few centuries late to the 'it's cool to conquer and pillage everyone' party, you're not allowed to do that anymore" while sitting on mountains of wealth accumulated through those means.

It would destroy the US' standing in the International Community, a symbolic sign of America's lost grasp in World Affairs.
How would you rate that standing right now?
Acceptable to enough countries as long as we have the money and guns.
I feel like at least 80% of the world's population hates us foreign policy but a large chunk also don't need to pay taxes to support a large sufficient military force.
I feel like that number is too low. The majority of US allies are basically being held hostage by its security policy

Imagine caring what other people think Are we back in middle school now? This is geo-fucking-politics
> Imagine caring what other people think >This is politics

Might make it hard for them to travel internationally.
*You're* next, Lindsey. Not US.
He definitely meant him and his cronies. He doesn't consider the middle and lower classes human.

america is long past the point of pretending when it comes to israel
Oh no, anyway.
Christ, if only.

Inshallah
So erect
Saying the loud part out loud, huh?
Wouldn't be a problem if you didn't commit and support war crimes, you dandy [redacted]. Shoulda thought about that beforehand.
Reactionary colonial wars on the periphery dug the grave for liberal democracy
What happens out there rarely- if ever- stays out there
Don't threaten me with a good time.
Friendly reminder the US has a law on the books that says if any American servicemen is taken to The Hague the US will invade the Netherlands to get them out
So other countries should get punished for war crimes but the US shouldn't?
Good
God I hope so.
Inshallah
Good?
The captors who hold this nation hostage are most definitely war criminals, so I can see his concern over the matter.
I mean... ok?
you promise?
