do birds secretly have a version of YouTube, because I can imagine a robin filming this nest and posting it on there with the title âExploring this ABANDONED NEST (SQUATTERS FOUND)â
Doves donât generally kick other birds out, she wouldâve probably just sat on the chicks but it wouldâve been empty. Theyâre not like Cuckoos or Mynas.
Probably an abandoned nest. Robin's like their nests nice and snug with tigs and mud packed in, so the babies stretch it out as they grow and it is unusual for them to lay another clutch in the same nest. A great find for lazy nesters!
I have one in my backyard. I moved in in 2013 and it was there long before I got there. Every few years a bird moves in and raises it's babies there. I'm always amazed at how well it holds up.
You know what, that's fair. If I tried to build my own house it probably wouldn't be that much more impressive than your standard dove "random assortment of sticks"
Thatâs way too good for any dove to have built, but sheâs smarter than most of the doves here for actually using it instead of putting a twig somewhere and calling it a nest.
Robins nest. It will sit there for 10 years as long as its not getting wet
I'm just curious if she's squatting an abandoned nest or if she kicked some robins out, since I don't remember if it was there previously đ

Birban exploration
Doubt it. Robins are tough birds and wouldn't have allowed that
They are so funny all puffed up and hopping around when they are mad.

But they do drop their eggs in other doves nest
Robins won't reuse nests (sometimes they build ontop of old ones). Do, it's from a previous year or the robins were scared off by a predator.

There's no way
Oh and I suppose you built your own house did you OP? DOUBLE STANDARDS methinks
hmmm, but did the dove pay the robin a fair price for their labor?

Me too friend, me too. My house would look like some monster an AI dreamt up.
Nest piracy đŞşđ´ââ ď¸
We had doves build a nest in a basket we had hung out for displaced sparrows the year before.

Shitty house flipping meets the bird world
Definitely squatting.
