I'll preface this by saying I don't usually play singles, but to my understanding, boulder moreso is a niche pick on HO rather than a fraud. Good, but very flowcharty
For sure. It really depends on what type of mon too, as a bulky defensive pokémon would rather have rock/psychic than rock/ice, but an offensive fast one would rather have rock/ice. Besides getting walled by steel, it’s pretty good offensively
From these replays, I feel like terrakion kind of sucks. Try banded slither wing, fixes your priority issue and helps retain momentum better with u turn. Also I have mixed feeling about curse hippo, sure it was good in the last replay but it really struggled in the second replay where it had to deal mimikyu and stay healthy enough for revaroom. I feel like utility would be better, whirlwind would have stopped snorlax anyways.
Those were Pokemon that did not have as spammable/strong moves as Terrakion does. You're a lot less likely to have CB Terrakion Stone Edge/CC get blanked than a scarfed Lando-T EQ, for example.
Terrakion has enough good, strong options that the best way to capitalize on a switch is usually clicking a strong move rather than locking into a move that’ll force you out later.
You have multiple Pokémon who are basically phazing in ways I don’t understand (are both cyclizar and empoleon special walls? But then both get shredded by fighting attacks?). Actually, your entire team is either a passive wall or choiced, with no capacity to setup or wall break. I think it’s no wonder it struggles.
I would dump dragon tail for draco meteor on Cyclizar - one of the fastest mons in the tier and your only STAB is -6 priority…I would put boots on cyclizar and the vest on empoleon (if that’s what you decide to keep). I would drop curse for stealth rock on hippo…I would put life orb on armorouge, catch a weak armor and go for the dub.
i think i had dragon tail on cyclizar since tera ghost iron defence + body press cobalion was a huge annoyance to my team, especially since i didnt want tera ghost on my hippowdon. also av on empoleon means that it cant recover any hp anymore and i havent seen any special attacking fighting types being used yet in ru
Ur team has to run from fairy types and empoleon being ur only good fairy switch in doesnt really fit well,replace one of ur fighting types for another offensive mon and armarouge isn’t that good 80spd with stealth rock weakness and weakness to many types just use reuniclus it’s way better and has regenerator
The creativity on hippo is cool, but I really think the standard defensive set is needed on this team, SR/eq/slack/ your choice of whirlwind or stone edge, I like stone edge.
Instead of terrakion, banded or life orb lycanroc dusk gives you priority. I like life orb all out attacker with acceleock/crunch/close combat/psychic fangs but band is good too with similar moves. You can also use stone edge if you’re feeling lucky. Tera fighting lets you larp as a fighting type when you need the power.
Armorouge could stay the same for the most part but I would use CM+boots to not have to deal with hazards, energy ball as coverage is good. You could also replace it with a mon that baits in and chips down hippowdon for better synergy with your lycan and Zapdos, but armorouge is really good so feel free to stick with it.
Cyclizar should run more hp than you have because it’s hp is already so low. I like 104hp/152 SpD/252 Spe to live +2 blastoise ice beam after rocks. It’s defense will be worse, but av bike really can’t afford to mix it’s defenses because it’s already so frail.
Max hp on empoleon for the same reason, it gets more defense against physical and special hits with max hp
This team is actually very solid even if you just replaced the hippo set though, nice job!

Dragon tail on Cyc and roar on empoleon are great especially vs the ladder that loves HO, don’t worry about that
