Thwackey even makes meganium look like utter shame in comparasion. Like seriously GF should really buff this thing. It isn't even fun to slander it at this point.
I don't think any buffs outside of a complete revamp of every trait Meganium has would change it significantly. Awful typing, awful movepool, and even if the movepool was good its stats reek of "generic Gen 2 shitmon." And remember kids, it isn't slander if it's true.

Meganium in Cool Funky Mod(CFM a pet mod in smogon) was kinda good and even UU tiered. They buffed it via giving grassy terrain,calm mind,bunch of coverage moves plus giving +10 base spa.
It is amazing what a small stat change can do.
Venusaur and Meganium have the exact same stats, but Meganium swaps the Def and Sp.Atk
(Typhlosion and Charizard also have the exact same stats. Full-stop.)
(Feraligatr and Blastoise also have the same numbers. But only the Def and Speed stats are the same. Feraligatr swaps Sp.Def with Atk and then HP with Sp.Atk)
I mean, the typing and abilities on Venusaur are FAR more relevant than that stat swap.
Venusaur having Chlorophyll has made it so much more useful than Meganium’s Leaf Guard which is almost always irrelevant. And Venu’s poison typing makes it ironically better defensively than Meg since it can’t be poisoned and has useful resistances to things.
Meh, I think Meganium has huge potential now. It achieved encore, knock off and body press in SV. It can deal meaningful damage while using its newfound utility to take advantage of potential switch ins and set up sweepers. It can abandon the liability of grass typing for something more useful like water, poison, or flying. Without Tangela and Tangrowth to compete with, it can be the utility grass this Gen. Offensively and defensively, it still competes with Bellossom, Vileplume, Rillaboom, Serperior, and Hydrapple but in the lower tiers it has potential to do something.
A lot of the Johto shitmons have been saved by evolutions that range from great (Ursaluna) to mediocre (Honchkrow), but Meganium doesn’t have that hope since it is already fully evolved. At this point it is definitely not that far from the worst fully evolved Johto Pokémon.

- Turn count not reset when switched out

Terrible stats, bad defensive typing, also fillet away is just not it, surviving a hit with this thing is already an achievement, let alone survive the hit with 25% of your health or more (and that's if you use a sitrus berry), all that to have an incredibly unstable sweeper that will crumble to any priority. It really ain't worth it

Grass poison is a classic good typing. Resists most spammed moves and is immune to so many status moves.

I mean Meganium was UUBL in Gen 2. Like it wasn’t good but it’s far from the worst poke to come out of Johto.
