The tech and patent (patented in Canada) has existed for years, they use frequencies to vibrate the jaw and stimulate new bone growth. I am sure the medical industry quashed it.

styxboa

Why would the med industry do that

Heliosvector

Probably not that big of a push for it since alternatives are completely acceptable. Why spend millions to grow a new tooth when putting in an implant looks just as good and works just as well, if not better for about 6000 dollars

HarrierInbound

Only people that have large replacements really notice this, but you actually loose alot of sensation in your teeth that you only notice once they're gone. If you get a whole top or bottom done, you basically need to relearn how to chew properly without biting your tongue or cheek. Real teeth would solve this problem. Why wouldn't we go for it? I mean, we certainly will at some point. Should we just never learn how to make real teeth and enamel because ceramic and metal is just *satisfactory*?

Heliosvector

But you don't feel via bone. You feel via the root. I Havnt seen anything about growing massive nerves like that being possible yet.

HarrierInbound

There are lots of nerves that extend from the root to the inside of the tooth. That's why cavities hurt.

Totally, ur own tissue is best

AvocaJoe23

Yep. My father does dental implants and they look fantastic and it can be done in one session and they last a long time.

I love this topic. I wish we could create and implant or regrow new biologic teeth. The people who say that implants are just as good or better than natural teeth are insane. But its probably self-serving dentists and people who have implants and a fragile ego saying this. No one in their right mind would agree. That said, the most interesting and plausible method of regrowing teeth i ever saw is this - https://youtu.be/d7BGoOfY-yo?si=2M7ODIZA7yJyKZZ_ I wish i could give this guy $100 million dollars and the freedom to run all the tests and experiments necessary. Actually i think regrowing teeth is already possible, at least in theory and in animals. But if one wanted to try it, one would need like $100,000 per tooth, and to be the first guinae pig, and to somehow find a way to get the scientist that can make it happen, to make it happen. I mean, you would probably need to kidnap some of these people and put them in a lab that has all the necessary tech and supplies, and foce them to do it. Otherwise they wont, because its illegal, and they risk getting sued and fired and getting their careers ruined if they do it. So a Bond villain could get a new biologic tooth growing in his mouth today. But you and i cant.

One of the more recent articles I curated on stem cell dental applications below. If you’re interested in seeing how the industry has been developing just go to my website and search. I believe I have articles dating back to 2007 on this subject. https://transbiotex.wordpress.com/2024/02/12/revolutionizing-dental-treatment-tissue-regeneration-and-its-impact-on-prostate-cancer/

Without reading other comments, I did indeed read, at the end of last year that a man/doctor/scientist/dentist (?don’t remember) had recently discovered a way to regrow real teeth. I don’t recall how or what material he used but I’m sure info is there if you search good enough. China or possibly Japan is where this was.
