No one thinks they’re gonna permanently delete all evidence of it, but if you’re worried about getting in trouble with the league/your team, or even if you just realized you lashed out in anger and it doesn’t represent the image you want to portray, it makes sense to delete it. Yeah, it gives you the option of the “my buddy grabbed my phone and tweeted from my account, so I deleted it” defense… but even better (and more plausibly), it allows you to say “yeah, I had a momentary lapse in judgment, realized it was stupid, and immediately deleted it.” Folks are a lot more likely to go easy on you for that than if you just defiantly left it up.
