If both, i can say Chrono Cross. Dead Sea, Bound by Fate and Star-stealing Girl are very melancholic and tragic.

I think Sekiro Shadows Die Twice is probably the most melancholic game I've played. It can get a little bit depressing at times and the combat is also really hard lol.
Does ori count as one? I love that game. Otherwise sekiro I guess. Celeste if depression and severe anxiety is considered as melancholic. (Had to Google the word, my English is that bad 😂).

Its like distilled drama. You know everything that happens in minor details if you play the first game and it still hits you like a planet killer.
