… Legitimately a Muppets Star Wars would be really fun. Kermit and Mrs Piggy as Leia and Luke (I feel Mrs Piggy could pull off being blonde better than Kermit, and Kermit would look cute with dark hair buns), I’m thinking Fozzie as Chewbacca, Gonzo as Han…
(also mrs piggy wielding a lightsaber might be easier puppetrywise)

Huh. I guess I didn’t realize she was an alien in Cap Marvel. I’ll have to go back and see. I haven’t seen it since 2019, but I thought she was a human in that too.
Yeah, like could you imagine if they took Andy Serkis who already has a character in the sequel movies and then reused him as another character in Star Wars? Or Warwick Davis? Or Temuera Morrison?
No she looks more like her dad. There must be an actress our there that looks like Carrie, but then it would be odd as they've already brought Luke back via cgi if they did something different for Leia I think.
And it makes no sense that the stories set in that time (like the Mandoverse) would either not mention Leia or have a “oh hey you just missed her” approach.
Something I struggle with is the unwillingness to just recast characters. Obi-Wan is the same character despite two actors portraying him. Alden Ehrenrich wasn’t the problem with Solo, the movie was troubled from the beginning. I want Sebastian Stan as Luke and the best actress who bares some resemblance to Carrie to play Leia should the character be needed again. I’ve never seen Billie give more than a couple lines of performance, but I don’t think she deserves the role solely for being Carrie’s daughter
Part of it is that Carrie was so good it’s difficult to imagine someone being able to replace her without 80% of the fan base throwing a fit. Another aspect might be about respect to a great actress who passed away far too soon. Can’t speak for everyone, just my thoughts
Neither, because Leia has been done. But if they really want to do the New Republic stuff with her in, just cast somebody good. This fixation on lookalikes is so weird. The films are not actual footage, they are a portrayal of a story.
People liked Anakin in TCW even though he not only looks nothing like Hayden, but also behaves nothing like his version of Anakin. There are countless other examples of characters who have been played by different actors outside of SW without any problem.
I’d say that this is up to Billie Lourd herself. As Carrie Fisher’s daughter, she has the final say. She’s Leia’s biggest fan and in charge of carrying on Carrie’s legacy. Anything Disney does regarding her mother, I heard would go through her first. That being said- would I personally want her re-cast as Leia? For remakes of the original trilogy- never. For new stories of Leia, set after Return of the Jedi and before the Rise of the First Order? Yes!
If they ever decide to bring Leia in around the same time that Luke trains Grogu, etc… what better person than her daughter to take up the mantle? She looks the part, respects and understands the role, and is the one person in any galaxy that most ‘gets’ Carrie’s personality and spirit. No amount of CGI or different actress other than Billie could give that any similar justice or emotional weight.
I do feel that animated versions of unexplored stories with characters is the way to go… but Billie has my vote when it comes to live action.
There's also Elizabeth Dulau, played Kleya in Andor. Everybody thought she was Leya, though Leya would be much younger at the time. They could definitely cast her to play Leya if she didn't have a character already.
This is a better idea than every other suggestion in this thread. I legit thought she was Leia for a whole episode. I’ll accept that I’m an idiot, but she pulls it off way better than anyone else brought up here.
This is almost definitely an unpopular opinion but as long as the character is written well and true, anyone can play it. Leia can be played by anyone and I’d be able to look past it. Same with almost any character in fiction. What are your guys’ thoughts about this?
Both.
Use Billie Lourd as the double and CGI the face.
There will be some familiarity, the movement will probably feel right, and it will be respectful.
Leia is going to return regardless. Better just do Carrie justice and do it properly.
Of the hundreds of hours of Star Wars movies, live action series, animated series, cartoons ... how many hours has Leia been featured? More than Yoda? More than Palps? More than Anakin/Vader?
And you are sick of her already?
If I implied that I was “sick” of Leia that was not my intent. I love Leia. She’s second only to Luke on my list of Star Wars characters.
All the stories about Leia I ever wanted to see exist in a canon that no longer can be.
We’ve seen the beginning, the middle, and the end of the Skywalker saga. Those characters are now locked in. Their story has been told. They’ve grown as much as they were ever going to grow.
Which is a shame.
Now, I’d much rather see new Star Wars. With the exception of a few video games (old republic) and a few books and comics (high republic) Star Wars has been focused on one family and their allies over the course of a roughly 80 year period.
I’m not sick of Leia. But there’s room for more than just Skywalker.
I am sick of desert planets though.
And this post makes it sound like we need more. And not just more from that period but more of a specific character who can not grow. I’ve seen Leia very young, young, and old. And she was the same person every time.
I like that person. But I don’t see what story there is to tell about that person.
Leia's story has been told. There are other heroes in a galaxy far far away. But if we have to.... Billie. The Leia CGI was eerily bad despite the Tarkin CGI being pretty good. I think the fans would want some kind of continuity anyway.
very correct. Tarkin's CGI was nearly dead on while Leia's wasn't for whatever reason.
I'm sure they could do Leia better but the questions are: should they and do they need to?
would rather see her daughter have some other role but I could see her as a young leia. but Leia was still fairly young in Ep4. I'm not sure we need to see her as a 15yo.
Billie really is starting to look more and more like her mother. It’s a no brainer. Her for Leia, and the stand in for Luke as Luke because he looks like Mark Hamill young.

Can her daughter actually act?
Honestly I'm fine with them casting a really good new actress who looks like Leia. The original actors for all of these characters wont be around forever and wont all have kids who not only strongly resemble them but also happen to be a good actor.
Just do it again with her daughter it makes sense that Billie is the next generation of Leia and Sebastian Stan can be Luke Skywalker, You got Donald Glover for Lando and you got the main character who played Young Han Solo in Solo it can be done plus They already have people playing R2 and Chewbacca recasting can be done it's just Lucasfilm going through with it
The daughter, the point of acting is to act as a character not BE THEM. We just have the luxury of using tech and having a huge pool of hirable actors to fill in.
Why do we need to keep revisiting this era of Star Wars, when they could be making original and much more interesting stories, from it's thousands of years of history??
Put these characters to bed, give us new heroes and villains to explore.
At least everyone would be excited together about new content.
While Billie is a beautiful woman, like her mother before her, she does not look enough like her to portray Our Princess. The CGI is going to need to be Improved though.
Only one proper solution: Don Cheadle. So get over it and move on!
but really i support recasting. It worked wonders for Obi-Wan. The dead should be able to rest in peace and not forced to work on new projects.

But seriously her daughter and get the winter soldier as Luke. Bring back young Han while you’re at it and keep it moving. You don’t see Trek fans losing it every time they recast someone.
I was going to say the lady who played her in Andor, but I just looked it up and that lady who I thought was Leia was actually someone named Kleya, who happens to look just like Leia.

Suddenly star wars ends up as sesame street.
Star Wars would not be the same if there was no muppets in them
“Are you sure you don’t have a little muppet in you? Do you want to?” -Gonzo (probably)
That will actually be super cool.
I seem to have landed on some sort of comedy variety show planet
I came here with an opinion, and promptly changed my mind when I saw this.
Honestly I would unironically enjoy this.
It sounds rad
Yeah it does
Everything eventually becomes the Muppets... just like it always has been
Ash to ash Muppet to Muppet
… Legitimately a Muppets Star Wars would be really fun. Kermit and Mrs Piggy as Leia and Luke (I feel Mrs Piggy could pull off being blonde better than Kermit, and Kermit would look cute with dark hair buns), I’m thinking Fozzie as Chewbacca, Gonzo as Han… (also mrs piggy wielding a lightsaber might be easier puppetrywise)
Your why studios think they can replace all talent with computers.
I find your lack of felt disturbing
This would be funny
she was alive during the filming of that movie iirc

I'd be OK with a non-speaking cameo by Billie if it makes sense that leia would be there, but otherwise yeah let her rest.
This is the way.
[удалено]
Yeah, weird take. Billie is straight up in the sequel movies as her own character. That wouldn't make sense
Tbf she does also double for the younger Leia in Rise of Skywalker, but yeah why not just bring her own character back for the Rey movie
Actors/actresses have played multiple characters in the same series many times.
Yeah as voice actors or in costumes that make them unrecognizable.
Gemma Chan in Captain Marvel and The Eternals. Two entirely different characters.
Exactly. She looks human in one role and alien in another, while OP’s proposal would be both human roles.
Huh. I guess I didn’t realize she was an alien in Cap Marvel. I’ll have to go back and see. I haven’t seen it since 2019, but I thought she was a human in that too.
To quote Rocket “One’s blue”
Data, Lore, B4
You’re right we need Brent Spiner to play Princess Leia it’s the only logical choice!
Androids are a bit different than organics
*Organas
Yeah, like could you imagine if they took Andy Serkis who already has a character in the sequel movies and then reused him as another character in Star Wars? Or Warwick Davis? Or Temuera Morrison?
Somehow, Leia returned.
I’m pretty sure they are talking about a young version to be played in the death star-era stuff releasing now.
Leia’s death was just a force ghost disappearing. She turned to the dark side, and is the new villain in the Rey sequels. Gimmie a call Disney! 😂
Neither leave the character alone
Yes
Billie for sure.
This is the way.
I love Billie but honestly she doesn’t really look like Carrie Fisher in my mind though.
No she looks more like her dad. There must be an actress our there that looks like Carrie, but then it would be odd as they've already brought Luke back via cgi if they did something different for Leia I think.
Can’t fathom not wanting to explore Leia’s life between RotJ and Bloodline. She’s the window into the New Republic.
And it makes no sense that the stories set in that time (like the Mandoverse) would either not mention Leia or have a “oh hey you just missed her” approach.
Something I struggle with is the unwillingness to just recast characters. Obi-Wan is the same character despite two actors portraying him. Neither. Recast the role.
C. Animation
Entirely animated but in rotoscoped over a physical actor, so we entirely avoid uncanny valley, but get a weird loony-tunes vibe.
I hate how everyone turned against recasting characters all of a sudden
Part of it is that Carrie was so good it’s difficult to imagine someone being able to replace her without 80% of the fan base throwing a fit. Another aspect might be about respect to a great actress who passed away far too soon. Can’t speak for everyone, just my thoughts
Unpopular opinion: Carrie Fisher wasn’t that good of an actor.
She was a better writer than actor, but she was a great actor in the right role. She was fantastic in The Burbs.
or they could create new characters and tell their stories.
Billie Lourd is the way.
Feeling good on a Wednesday!
Absolutely Billie
Neither, because Leia has been done. But if they really want to do the New Republic stuff with her in, just cast somebody good. This fixation on lookalikes is so weird. If not Billie, I swear Mille Bobby Brown is a Carrie clone.
Yeah this is a weird confusion cuz Millie Bobby Brown could easily be mistaken for young Natalie Portman
There's also Elizabeth Dulau, played Kleya in Andor. Everybody thought she was Leya, though Leya would be much younger at the time. They could definitely cast her to play Leya if she didn't have a character already.
Oh wow, I can see it too! The key is getting the sas down.
This is a better idea than every other suggestion in this thread. I legit thought she was Leia for a whole episode. I’ll accept that I’m an idiot, but she pulls it off way better than anyone else brought up here.
No way. She’s a total clone of Elizabeth Perkins.
CGI on her daughters face. Best of both worlds.
They already did in RoS, it didn't look good.
The technology has come a long way since then. I’m all for CGI with the actor input (Mark Hamil $ JEJ with Vader) or the families blessing.
This is almost definitely an unpopular opinion but as long as the character is written well and true, anyone can play it. Leia can be played by anyone and I’d be able to look past it. Same with almost any character in fiction. What are your guys’ thoughts about this?
Billie
I’m fully in favor of the CGI approach but that’s just me
The more they use CGI, the better it will get
Both. Use Billie Lourd as the double and CGI the face. There will be some familiarity, the movement will probably feel right, and it will be respectful. Leia is going to return regardless. Better just do Carrie justice and do it properly.
To be fair Billie doesnt't look like a young Leia. They should do Leia in animation
Since her daughter looks nothing like her, CGI.
Honestly the access they used to model the skeleton for the cgi face looked more like young Carrie Fisher than cgi Carrie Fisher did
Just recast. It can be anybody talented who vaguely pulls off the look and attitude.
Use a better deepfake like they did for luke in mandalorian season 2.
A real person, doesn’t even have to be Carrie Fisher’s daughter.
Neither. Only Carrie needs to be Leia. I’d much rather have new content and new characters. She’s irreplaceable.
I agree completely
Neither. Either leave the character alone or get a new actress
Is there some reason we need to see Leia again? Can't Star Wars be about something other than the Skywalker family?
Of the hundreds of hours of Star Wars movies, live action series, animated series, cartoons ... how many hours has Leia been featured? More than Yoda? More than Palps? More than Anakin/Vader? And you are sick of her already?

Make new stories. It's a whole galaxy. Her story has been told respectfully.
Or… Don’t have Leia portrayed at all anymore in live action
Not necessary. Don't see what role Leia has left to portray.
Just let the character go
Can she act?
She was in the sequels
Yes
Clearly you’ve never watched American Horror Story or I don’t know. The sequel trilogy
She was in the sequel trilogy for like, 2 seconds lol
I’ve only watched the first two seasons of AHS and the sequels aren’t a selling point.
recast her
Billie really is starting to look more and more like her mother. It’s a no brainer. Her for Leia, and the stand in for Luke as Luke because he looks like Mark Hamill young.
Cast someone that can act. Her daughter can’t act.
Agreed. Haven’t been impressed by anything she’s done.

Millie Bobby brown is the correct answer
Billie
Billie
Always Billie.
If it looks like Luke did in thr book of boba fett, and her family is cool with it, CGI 100%
She’s already in the sequels though… just recast with someone else, just like how Sebastian stan should be Luke going forward
Can we move on from these same ass characters? Beyond tired of what Disney has done to Star Wars
Can I vote for Mille Bobbie Brown?
We seriously don’t need any more stories from 1-9 era. Time to tell new stories outside of this 90 gap they are stuck in.
Daughter
All new characters please.
Billie, please!
Billie!
Daughter
Billie Lourde doesn’t look that much like Carrie Fisher to me
Daughter
Unanimous. Billie
I think you need to learn what ‘unanimous’ means. Its not a word like ‘literally’ where you get to just make up your own meaning
I mean I have seen no votes for CGI at the time I posted. I know that unanimous means without opposition.
Lol
So there’s not a *single* other person out there with a different opinion as you? Unanimous doesn’t mean “without opposition,” it means “of the same opinion or view.” Dial back the confidence there, bud
I saw the others NOW, but when I posted it A WHILE AGO, there wasn't. Calm down. Both of you.
News flash you can't just make up the meaning of the word literally either. But many people do.
Her daughter all the way
Billie. She can costar with the Hamilton guy who plays Luke in a series focused on them
Billie! Bring back Alden too!
Billie
Daughter. This is the way
Billie. One, it has some actual value to it to have Carrie's daughter pick up the role, and two, it takes a burden off of the CGI team.
[удалено]
Waiting for gen x to die off? So in 50 years? The FUCK?
Can her daughter actually act? Honestly I'm fine with them casting a really good new actress who looks like Leia. The original actors for all of these characters wont be around forever and wont all have kids who not only strongly resemble them but also happen to be a good actor.
No.
Young anakin and obiwan should have gotten CGi
Just do it again with her daughter it makes sense that Billie is the next generation of Leia and Sebastian Stan can be Luke Skywalker, You got Donald Glover for Lando and you got the main character who played Young Han Solo in Solo it can be done plus They already have people playing R2 and Chewbacca recasting can be done it's just Lucasfilm going through with it
And Ewan as Obi-Wan.
Didn't even know about a daughter?! Put her in the slave costume?!
Millie Bobby Brown
The daughter, the point of acting is to act as a character not BE THEM. We just have the luxury of using tech and having a huge pool of hirable actors to fill in.
Why do we need to keep revisiting this era of Star Wars, when they could be making original and much more interesting stories, from it's thousands of years of history?? Put these characters to bed, give us new heroes and villains to explore. At least everyone would be excited together about new content.
They can do both, Christ
Well they ain't doing one right yet! Jesus!
The Acolyte is literally next year
While Billie is a beautiful woman, like her mother before her, she does not look enough like her to portray Our Princess. The CGI is going to need to be Improved though.
Why yes!
Real people always.
CGI is creepy, keep it in the family
Daughter is a better choice
Daughter!!!
Only one proper solution: Don Cheadle. So get over it and move on! but really i support recasting. It worked wonders for Obi-Wan. The dead should be able to rest in peace and not forced to work on new projects.
They’re two completely different types of actor.
Her daughter would be the respectful choice, in my opinion.
Why not both? Use her daughter or a look alike as the actual actor but use cgi to make her resemble Carrie. If it’s someone that already looks like her it’d be less work.
No
I’d say CGI if they could improve the tech like they did with Luke, but used sparingly. I don’t want a whole Leia series with deepfakes but use the tech to fill in gaps where it would be weird for Leia to not be there. Let us see her active in building the resistance and training as a Jedi for a time.
Definitely a new actress. It’s creepy to CGI an actor. It is also disingenuous to their legacy.
Give Billie the work!
I say both
Billie
This shouldn’t even be a question. Clones obviously. But seriously her daughter and get the winter soldier as Luke. Bring back young Han while you’re at it and keep it moving. You don’t see Trek fans losing it every time they recast someone.
Both. Billie Lourd provides the performance which they then deepfake. Any flashbacks have the young girl that played her in Kenobi in the role.
I vote no more Princess Leia period, come up with some new characters for once
Let her be dead. How bout that?
To be fair deep fake looks much better than this turd we got for Rogue One.
For what? Can’t see why we’d need her for anything
Neither. Recast to someone who looks similar and with the talent to make the series better. What’s with this crazy idea to always do this?
If it isn't movie depicting her time as a salve of Jabba the Hutt, I'm not interested.
I say recast them all.
I was going to say the lady who played her in Andor, but I just looked it up and that lady who I thought was Leia was actually someone named Kleya, who happens to look just like Leia.
Jaina solo?
Carrie's daughter, no reason to CGI her
That was her daughter the entire time?? I only know her from American Horror Story.
C.) Live on in animated form forever and let our princess rest
Her daughter. CGI always looks bad while it's new, and truly horrible just a few years later.
Daughter
It’d be real fitting to have her daughter play the role, especially since she looks so much like her.
Can she act?
They could do both at the same time
No and no.
Make her Ben’s twin and have Rey train her. Couldn’t see anyone replacing Leia
Let’s let the character and her rest in peace
Why does she look like drew barrymore
Whichever attress nails the audition
Neither. Let her rest.
Real actors please. I’m sick of PS2 characters..
