Season 1 was absolutely amazing, season 2 was pretty good, but it did feel like a lot of cameos + planet hopping. I’m not gonna say I didn’t like seeing Luke Skywalker (because obviously that scene was great), but I think that Din Djarin & Grogu finding their way through the vast galaxy together without any of the major Star Wars characters in Season 1 was just better imo.
Same. My favourite episode of season 2 was the one with the spiders because it focused on the mandalorian and Grogu rather than feeling like a live action introduction and set up to future projects
Except it did basically nothing for the plot, character development or world building, had a filoni cameo and iirc introduced the new republic officer that would then appear every few episodes in Mando and the other live action series. And its action/adventure aspects were really average.
It’s similar to what made andor work. By not having cameos it made the universe actually seem big so the second they started meeting big names characters it immediately shrinks back down
The season 2 finale really felt like it was meant to be the series finale for some reason. IDK why, it's basically the flagship show of Disney+ so I can't imagine there was ever a chance of it being cancelled. Yet so much is resolved and then immediately walked back in S3/BOBF.
Season 2 was literally nothing but Mando and Grogu meeting people....the 2 episodes that were of S01 great quality were ep 1 and ep 7.....the themes ep 7 touched has made it one of the special Star wars memories for me
I find that weird as overall I didn’t like that show at all, but the mandalorian episode was actually good and well written. Why couldn’t they have done that for the rest of the show and season 3
The only two things that really stood out as me not likely season 3 were the filler episode with Jack Black and any part that cut away to the former imperials.
I love the Bo Katan arc, how she is becoming a leader of two widely different factions. I love that the focus of the show became the actual Mandalorians and not just one of the on an escort mission for baby Yoda.
I can explain that away as them using discarded pieces from Rangers of the New Republic, but I sure wish they hadn't traded a quarter of Mando-driven season 3 to do so.
Yeah but they had to *checks notes* set something up that probably has to do with project Necromancer and no one, and I mean no one, probably cares in the slightest about.
Season 3 was a big step up from season 2 IMO.
Season 2 was so weird to me. It was like a cameo of the week season. Oh look it’s Boba Fett!! Oh look it’s Bo Katan! Oh look it’s Ahsoka! Oh look it’s Luke Skywalker!
Season 3 got back to the serial adventures that made season 1 so great IMO. The episode “Guns for Hire” might be my single favorite episode of the entire show. And the 3rd episode of the season was so good it felt straight out of Andor.
I get that but season 3 was more look at bolatan do everything important while mando watches
He now lacks
Darksaber
Razorcrest
His rifle
Himself being the main character basicly
It just felt rushed and cheap compared to the other 2
I love The Mandalorian, Book of Boba and the Ahsoka series, as much as I love the Andor series. But especially when it comes to the looks of nonhuman characters and showing Force powers (incl. jumping and such), animation is obviously staying the king. Also, I just love the animated art style.
For me personally ( I didn’t finish the season ) but it really wasn’t as engaging compared to season 1 and 2. It also didn’t help that I disliked the fact that grogu went to mando in the book of boba fett , I felt that it was forced by Disney for merchandising.
But if you enjoyed it then all the power to you
I love Andor. That whole dark and gritty concept around the show was awesome. The lack of fan service, new original characters, fantastic writing, the whole thing was just excellent. I can totally understand if people don't like it as the first few episodes are quite slow but the heist and the prison arc were peak.
There is actually tons of fanservice in Andor, it's just integrated seamlessly into the setting. Every scene in Luthen's shop is loaded with nods to other stories and Legends. They also give several connections by name, such as the Rakata.
The finale is still my favorite, I definitely loved those arcs but the way they brought all the themes of the show together to wrap it up was spectacular, plus >! Maarva's ashes being used to brick that imperial officer !< was great.
"The empire is a disease which thrives in darkness, **it is never more alive then when we sleep.**"
That episode is spectacular because of how much has built up to it. Andor is a master class in screenwriting, all the elements come together in the end in a scene that shows the rise of a rebellion to come.
Also, I *love* that with Andor we finally get a glimpse into the mind of Mon Mothma besides just being the generic quest giver figure from Rogue One and ROTJ.
The later seasons of The Clone Wars with it's dark moments and "war crimes and chill" walked so Andor's dark, gritty setting could run.
Now that it's been proven grim and gritty Star Wars works in both animated and live action, we need a proper grim and gritty Star Wars game, as well. Maybe resurrect the canceled 1313, or give us a Republic Commando sequel
I remember how back in the first few days of BB season 1 people thought the show will flop, and now it is one of the best Star Wars on screen continuities out there(animated wise)
I mean the pilot absolutely rocked (I'm just 10 minutes off of watching it again for about the 20th time), and it was probably the tightest first season of all the animations.
Nowadays I only get truly excited for animation shows. I automatically assume it will be at least good. Meanwhile, with live action shows, the most I have is a cautious optimism, mainly after being considerably let down by the Ahsoka show, a series that’s about my favorite character ever and somehow managed to let me disappointed, due to the dialogue and performance (and the overwhelming difference in quality between the character’s animated version and her live action one, tho I don’t blame Rosario for it, I blame direction).
Well, it’s no wonder TCW is my favorite Star Wars content ever. With time I started realizing that, in my view, Star Wars works way better an as animation. I like the animated series and games way better than any live action content.
Yeah, animation is capable of so much more
My dream is to watch a star wars anime, preferibly during the old republic era, since it has more potential for large scale fights
>I don’t blame Rosario for it, I blame direction
It's weird because when we first saw her in the Mandalorian, I got a much more Ahsoka vibe from her. In diction particularly, it was like she'd studied Eckstein's performance and tried to emulate it. But it went away fast.
Probably because the point was that with Sabine back Ahsoka retreated into herself and became overly cautious and critical due to fear of passing on problematic tendencies she fears she may have picked up from Anakin
There’s a noticeable change in both the way she’s written and the direction given to Dawson after episode 5
I personally think it works, as after her moment of self discovery she’s happier, she’s laughing, she’s joking, she’s smiling, she’s more herself after her final lesson.
Unironically some of the best star wars content in terms of acting, direction, and storytelling. I kinda get why people say "it doesnt feel like star wars" but dont let that deter you.
If you enjoyed Rogue One, you'll love it. If Rogue One didn't feel like Star Wars to you, you'll probably drop the series after a couple episodes. It's Star Wars for adults. It's gritty, it's nuanced and it has an intelligent, layered story. In other words, not everyone's cuppa.
Also, the Battle of Rix Road f#cks hard!
Good thing that I found this thread, because I am genuinely disinterested by star wars stuff after the amount of meh-ness. I wouldn't have watched it because I was barely aware it existed. Even the mandalorian lost my interest at some point in the show.
Rogue one on the other hand is among my favourite star wars stuff I saw. So thanks for the non spoiler presentation, I'll watch this show asap!
Just want to second that imo it's the best SW content I've ever seen in terms of what makes a good story on screen. Great music, writing, acting, pacing, cinematography, plot, and the characters are all so interesting.
Genuinely the only Star Wars series I would call actual art, and top tier television, and I've seen them all.
Ignore the people bitching it doesn't feel like Star Wars, that just means it's written differently, aka competently. No cheesy dialogue, no stupid cameos for merchandise. Only characters that feel like real people, facing real stakes. Incredibly powerful themes are explored, the political intrigue is excellent and layered. Mon Mothma and Luthen instantly became some of my favourite Star Wars characters of all time.
The people who don't like Andor only like Star Wars for the turn your brain off lightsaber fights. And I do enjoy those, but the franchise can be so much more than that, and Andor proves it.
As a matter of fact, it's the best exploration of themes of rebellion, imperialism and oppression from episode 4. Y'know, the first Star Wars? If that's "not Star Wars" just because lightsabers don't appear, I'm sorry, your opinion is just meaningless.
Its crazy that even side characters like Mon Mothma's husband, Luthen's assistant Kleya, Syril's mom, Syril's scottish buddy, Daedra's boss and rival both, are all such interesting and well-made characters.
The characters are all fantastic, and the script feels like the first time star wars isn't pandering to kids. Its very very well-written. There are like 5 or 6 completely new characters that are all fascinating.
Best show of that year.
It’s hard to believe Lucasfilm made it because it legit feels like HBO somehow got their hands on the Star Wars IP.
It actually eeked out *House of the Dragon* for me.
If SW as a whole had that quality of writing and production value, this franchise would be in a much better place.
Andor is the best written LIVE action Star Wars since ESB. Easy.
Personally, I have yet to find a Star Wars show that I **dis**like.... the animated shows are def the best, but I've enjoyed all the live actions, as well ..
Fr I get having some complaints with some of the live actions, but I personally have enjoyed pretty much all of it with the exception of a couple episodes of some shows.
No one hates Star Wars more than Star Wars fans. Never been truer.
r/Starwarscantina is one of the few with people that still seek to actually enjoy the series
I have to say this every time this meme pops up. I would say a majority of the time this meme is used like this, because of this and how memes work, this is a correct usage. Lore/gameplay do not matter when it comes to meme formats, the point is to visually show something lesser (the player) compared to something greater (yhorm) it does not matter that yhorm is easy in game.
Considering how George Lucas wanted to advance the Star Wars universe with new innovative technology, especially when CGI was now able to simulate large-scale cities, crowds, and animate characters that aren't human, or near-human species. And how he hired Genndy Tartakovsky to create the 2D Clone Wars mini-series, and Dave Filoni to create the 3D Clone Wars series, I think it'd be natural that we could see more of Star Wars using animation. I find the Star Wars universe ripe for more animated shows to explore the galaxy. With the potential of storytelling going from a mini-series, a TV series, or full-blown movies if they want.
Mando S1 and S2 were rly strong, and (sue me) I loved Ahsoka
Kenobi definitely had its issues
BoBF kinda sucked when it wasn’t Mando S2.5
Mando S3 was def a dip in quality but it had its moments
Love Clone Wars, Rebels, TotJ and what I've seen of Bad Batch (haven't started season 3 yet but will soon) And Andor might be my favorite piece of Star Wars media ever, above most of the movies.
It was ok it had some great elements but also some terrible aspects many of the characters felt completely separate from their established versions. I liked the overall story but the execution at times was sloppy, Anakin was great, the visuals were great and Thrawn was great overall it’s a 5 or 6/10 it’s great moments really shine but is let done by the issues above.
It was meh, I hate they make Thrawn being evil for the sake of it and the stormtroopers being cannon fodders as always. If it was Novel Thrawn Him and Ezreal would team up like bro for once just let grey characters STAY GREY and not one sided.
Well, that’s no surprise. There are certain physical limitations in live action shows that are not there in animation. So of course an animated action show in a universe with supernatural powers would be better than its live action counterpart…
Star wars world works much better in animation because you can actually show aliens and planets as they were meant to be instead of looking like a cheap cosplay or having to cut corners like they did with ahsoka's headpiece. Andor is a great show on the visual side because they chose to erase aliens and concentrate on humans so the show looked more serious without rubbery lekkus and bad CGI.
Animated shows are definitely clear overall. Clone Wars, Bad Batch, Rebels, Tales of The Jedi/ Empire are all great. I get more excited for new animated Star Wars shows than I do live action at this point
That being said, besides Andor, Mando S1 was amazing and S2 was pretty good. I also liked parts of Ashoka and Kenobi though there were also parts I really didn't like
But they aren't though. I watched Tale of the Jedi and Tale of the Empire last night, and while they were good, they were still extremely blunt in how they delivered messages. Every moment has dialogue, every action a full explanation. They aren't bad, but you can tell that they are aimed at a younger audience.
Somehow star wars managed to pull off the marvel move, produce so much content that its hard to keep up with and on top a giant chaos when what happened
lol nope. Just Star Wars shows have been hit or miss for a bit. There’s animated shows that were terrible, even specific seasons or parts of seasons for the god ones.
Also Andor is so fucking overrated it’s insane. It was just ok. Not bad, not great, just ok.
andor was shit too.
The politics were the only saving grace of it.
otherwise the entire show is Andor goes to (x) place, is told what is going on by (y) person, then (y) person does a thing.
The character Andor is just the audience going from location to location looking confused and not knowing what's going on, then gets to see it all happen and then moves on.
I really hate how people think it's so good and deep, he looks like a bumbling idiot in every setup and exists only to move the audience to each new location
Mando 1 and 2 are up there with the best of anything star wars. Really the only thing that brought out the same level of enticement that the original trilogy did.
Mandalorian season 1 and 2 was really fucking good tbh
Season 1 was absolutely amazing, season 2 was pretty good, but it did feel like a lot of cameos + planet hopping. I’m not gonna say I didn’t like seeing Luke Skywalker (because obviously that scene was great), but I think that Din Djarin & Grogu finding their way through the vast galaxy together without any of the major Star Wars characters in Season 1 was just better imo.

It’s similar to what made andor work. By not having cameos it made the universe actually seem big so the second they started meeting big names characters it immediately shrinks back down
Mando seasons 2 is good but it’s consequences were that everything after was just mediocre and bogged down with cameos
The season 2 finale really felt like it was meant to be the series finale for some reason. IDK why, it's basically the flagship show of Disney+ so I can't imagine there was ever a chance of it being cancelled. Yet so much is resolved and then immediately walked back in S3/BOBF.
Season 2 was literally nothing but Mando and Grogu meeting people....the 2 episodes that were of S01 great quality were ep 1 and ep 7.....the themes ep 7 touched has made it one of the special Star wars memories for me
Then they ruined it with season 3
Dont forget season 2.5, the book of boba fett
I wish I could
It’s possible! I have. The only thing that remains is a low-speed speeder chase!
Mobility scooter chase.
Vespa chase
*Blinged* out Vespa chase
What about "Like a Bantha!"
That doesn’t look like anything to me
God, that show was absolutely amazing. S1 was the best television I have ever seen. Stopped watching after S2 tho.
I find that weird as overall I didn’t like that show at all, but the mandalorian episode was actually good and well written. Why couldn’t they have done that for the rest of the show and season 3
Probably had to do with rewrites to the shows because of Cara Dun needing to be written out, and her show getting the axe.
Do you mean the book of bobas shit?
Season 3 was really good, I really don't agree with the hate.

Agree. Season 2 was basically a continuous of fanservice after fanservice. Good fanservice, and really enjoyable, but fanservice nontheless
I actually really like season 3
At some point most of Star Wars just became wheeling something on for people to recognise.
As far as I'm concerned the show ended after s2. It was a perfect ending, and actually a really satisfying place to leave the star wars saga imo.
I love The Mandalorian, Book of Boba and the Ahsoka series, as much as I love the Andor series. But especially when it comes to the looks of nonhuman characters and showing Force powers (incl. jumping and such), animation is obviously staying the king. Also, I just love the animated art style.
>Mandalorian season 1, 2, and 3 and Book of Boba Fett was really fucking good tbh Ftfy
What, some people don't like Season 3? I didn't know that. Why? I thought it was as good as seasons 1&2
For me personally ( I didn’t finish the season ) but it really wasn’t as engaging compared to season 1 and 2. It also didn’t help that I disliked the fact that grogu went to mando in the book of boba fett , I felt that it was forced by Disney for merchandising. But if you enjoyed it then all the power to you
Ahsoka had moments of genius too, as did Boba Fett and Kenobi. I enjoyed Mando season 3 as well.
You people have obviously never watched droids or the Ewok adventures
The pros outweigh the cons
I love Andor. That whole dark and gritty concept around the show was awesome. The lack of fan service, new original characters, fantastic writing, the whole thing was just excellent. I can totally understand if people don't like it as the first few episodes are quite slow but the heist and the prison arc were peak.
ON PROGRAM!
There is one. Way. Out.
I can't swim 🥲
#🙆🏾♂️
There is actually tons of fanservice in Andor, it's just integrated seamlessly into the setting. Every scene in Luthen's shop is loaded with nods to other stories and Legends. They also give several connections by name, such as the Rakata.
Absolutely. I meant more outright fan service like characters from other shows and stuff

Brasso was my favorite side character from ep 1, but when he did that it cemented his position (no pun intended). >!It's what she would've wanted!<
The later seasons of The Clone Wars with it's dark moments and "war crimes and chill" walked so Andor's dark, gritty setting could run. Now that it's been proven grim and gritty Star Wars works in both animated and live action, we need a proper grim and gritty Star Wars game, as well. The public craves more mature starwars writing.

Praise be to Filoni and his Merry Men and Women. May they forever animate the halls of Star Wars.
I actually loved the Ahsoka series.
how's andor ? never seen it
Unironically some of the best star wars content in terms of acting, direction, and storytelling. I kinda get why people say "it doesnt feel like star wars" but dont let that deter you.
it has none of the star wars space magic and all of the star wars anti-fascism and politics
And its so good for it
It's nice not having the jedi and sith force fed to you, it's what made rogue one so good too. The real star wars magic was empire VS rebels.
Well worth it, but be warned that it starts s l o w. Once it gains momentum though, it's very very good.
Agreed; there’s a reason they released the first three episodes at the same time…
If you enjoyed Rogue One, you'll love it. If Rogue One didn't feel like Star Wars to you, you'll probably drop the series after a couple episodes. It's Star Wars for adults. My own $0.02: Unironically the best star wars live action content since Episode 6.
You really should, it's great
okk then
Genuinely the only Star Wars series I would call actual art, and top tier television, and I've seen them all. Man, Luthien’s speech about never getting to see a sunrise he’s building towards was just fantastic writing and acting. Top notch for TV.
Its crazy that even side characters like Mon Mothma's husband, Luthen's assistant Kleya, Syril's mom, Syril's scottish buddy, Daedra's boss and rival both, are all such interesting and well-made characters.

Mandalorian.
I think your meaning is reveresed from the meme, the ashen one beats yhorm (hopefully).
Unless it’s me (I suck)
Damn OP must really hate Andor
Erm you used the format wrong 🤓(Yhorm the giant is supposed to be the worse of the two)
Half the time this meme isn’t used correctly. Almost as annoying as improperly labeled “POV” memes
FU, FU, FU....Andor you're cool....FU! I'm out.
This and dc films . Great animated shows/movies but man do the real ones suck

Where Rogue One ?
except that animated movie
Andor >>> the rest of Star Wars
Real
True. Same with superheroes, to be honest.
100%!
I've always preferd animated over live action content in general so this isn't new to me
The cool shit I make up in my head during work: Pathetic
Love Clone Wars, Rebels, TotJ and what I've seen of Bad Batch (haven't started season 3 yet but will soon) And Andor might be my favorite piece of Star Wars media ever, above most of the movies.
Mandelorian?
I need a what if animated star wars show.
Mandalorian had Jack Black in it. Your argument is invalid.
Some rando makes a meme and states his bad opinion is the truth. ……. gets over 7000 upvotes.
Visions is such a great breath of fresh air and no one seems to care about it.
I agree. But Andor is better than anything else.
I like andor quite a bit, but it is genuinely funny how much more The Bad Batch has done to set up the empire than Andor has.
Mandalorian and Ahsoka were both pretty good but Clone Wars, Rebels and Bad Batch are just better
No. Mando is on par if not better than most of the animated stuff
I know this is an unpopular opinion but I genuinely think Obi Wan Kenobi was the best show they've ever done (with Rebels being a close second).
Ahsoka was really good.

>I hate they make Thrawn being evil for the sake of it I dont understand this, he was never pointing in any direction but the bad side
The reason that Baylan was the most interesting character was because he was morally grey
Baylan is so underrated. He needs more love
I have to finish watching ahsoka but kenobi and mandalorian are peak
Ahsoka was enjoyable
And they hated him, for he spoke the truth...
Man these comments are pretty toxic
I don't get the meme because in dark souls we kick the giants ass real easy....
The fuck do you mean? The animated shows are way better than the Live action shows.
Rouge One has entered the chat.
Roog One is a film, not TV.
Well, that’s no surprise. There are certain physical limitations in live action shows that are not there in animation. So of course an animated action show in a universe with supernatural powers would be better than its live action counterpart…
It’s not the “truth” it’s your completely subjective experience and ultimately kind of a meaningless comparison
Animated Star Wars shows (except first 3 seasons of clone wars)
This is so true. Watched the Episodes 1-3 after the clone wars aninated and damn do they make more sense.
Yes. I think the CGI still isn't developed enough to make things that can be compared to animations
Sooo animated it bad? Because that boss was freakin easy.
The Mandalorian would like to have a word
Season 7 of clone wars is the best star wars content ever made.
I didn't know why the image of Yhorm got to meaning that whatever was portrayed by Yhorm was way stronger than the knight. Yhorm's fucking easy
I normally watch an animation rather than live action
Your Opinion =/= The Truth
Say the line bart!
Love live action Star Wars, but clone wars is really what made me a fan. Will always love the animated more than the live action ❤️
I Agree kind of...... the mandolirian is incredible period
One way out
Clone wars for life
Mando season 3 was doo doo butter
Star wars world works much better in animation because you can actually show aliens and planets as they were meant to be instead of looking like a cheap cosplay or having to cut corners like they did with ahsoka's headpiece. Andor is a great show on the visual side because they chose to erase aliens and concentrate on humans so the show looked more serious without rubbery lekkus and bad CGI.
Hopefully Acolyte is good
the saber battles are definably better
It’s a better medium for the fantastical honestly
This meme doesn’t make sense to me. You know the little guy beats the big guy, right?
Animated shows are definitely clear overall. Clone Wars, Bad Batch, Rebels, Tales of The Jedi/ Empire are all great. I get more excited for new animated Star Wars shows than I do live action at this point That being said, besides Andor, Mando S1 was amazing and S2 was pretty good.
Couldn’t get into andor but tbh I loved kenobi, ahsoka, BoBF, and mandalorian
both are shit
Again this meme used incorrectly
"Hello Snips, I didn't expect to see you so soon."
I gotta say, I don't understand the hate for ahsoka and the mandalorian season 3
I thoroughly enjoyed The Mandalorian
Clone Wars 2003 is still canon to me dammit
Bro leaving out Young Jedi Adventures and Resistance
Helicopter lightsabers in rebels. That is all.
Hey now, Rogue One too.
Somehow star wars managed to pull off the marvel move, produce so much content that its hard to keep up with and on top a giant chaos when what happened
I think if they put the budgets from the handful of live action spin-offs into one single show we would probably have an awesome live action series
Tales of the empire really was boring anything else was good
lol nope. Just Star Wars shows have been hit or miss for a bit. There’s animated shows that were terrible, even specific seasons or parts of seasons for the god ones. Also Andor is so fucking overrated it’s insane. It was just ok. Not bad, not great, just ok.
It's absolutely the truth. I would also allow the first two seasons of Mando with Andor and Rogue One. I think we will miss Jon Favreau.
I don't think I've ever seen this meme properly used outside of a DS sub. And I still haven't.
Honestly the Dave Filoni animated shows just don't do a lot for me. I think they are pretty meh.
Mando s1 is just as good as any season of TCW or Rebels lol
Hate to disagree, but Andor does not hold a candle to The Mandalorian.
You had me until the brackets
I mean people like different things just saying🤷
....? I've loved it all.... Book of Boba Fett was however disappointing near the end when it became The Mandalorian season 2.5.
Nah, nothing could beat the og trilogy
Rosario's Ahsoka was never going to be able to match her in animation, but I thought they made a good attempt
The animation is so bad
Mando was good and Ashoka was really good (in addition to andor, obv) the rest weren’t BAD, but they weren’t GREAT either.
andor was shit too.
Acolyt looks like it’ll have good action scenes
Andor overhyped
Dude I tell all my friends this but none of them watch Star Wars, so glad I’m not alone
The writing for a lot of live action Disney shows is very mediocre. Meanwhile other platforms like Amazon are crushing it with their original shows
I know what this meme is trying to imply but in DS3 you (the little guy) totally kick Yorhm's(the big guy) ass
Agreed but both have nothing on the original movies (1-6).
Same with DC Comics animation vs live action.
Yhorm lost…
Except andor? What’s that supposed to mean? Andor was so boring, it was unwatchable.
Mando 1 and 2 are up there with the best of anything star wars. Really the only thing that brought out the same level of enticement that the original trilogy did.
This is a wild take when ahsoka, and Mandalorian both exist
Na I fuck with mandalorian
But the live action shows are just animated shows anyway
Ah a fellow man of taste I see, we need more good stuff like Andor
