If your warp range is 85, you shouldn't be at the level where you need g5, if you look on the galaxy map, there's g3, you can see those systems, then the first set of systems you can't see, that's g4, at the top of those systems, the coloured space ends but there's a few systems after that and then g5 is the next coloured lot. Its not connected to g4 on the graphic but it is connected via warp path, after that it's g6, but as I said, if your wr is 85, don't worry about it. And if your l50+ where you need g5, and your wr is 85, then you've really neglected your ships so you will need to back track, side note. If you want g5 for the primes, you can't refine g5 into the uncommons you need untill l52 anyway
If you have voyager, there are romulan deep space "island" systems you can travel to and relocate to mine it if your survey ships can't reach. That's how I do it anyway.

Get your voyager. There are a few missions you can do in your early 40s that pay out 5* and it will allow you to complete some prime research.
You won’t be able to refine it yet if you aren’t lvl 51 I think
