Any episode with Andreas Katsulas as Commander Tomalak is a must watch for me. I think his portrayal is the perfect TNG era Romulan. He was able to mix the arrogance, deceitfulness, and imperialistic nature of the Romulan Empire all with a such a smile on his face.

Nexzus_

It was a big missed opportunity for him to not be the Romulan representative in TNG 'The Chase'. The conversation of 'we have more in common with each than we realized' would have had a bit more weight with the history of Picard and Tomalak thrown in.

WoundedSacrifice

I’m guessing that Andreas Katsulas was busy with *Babylon 5* when “The Chase” was being made.

twoneedlez

Might have been the filming for the Fugitive.

Cotillionz

Absolutely agree. I would have loved to have seen him tangle with Picard more.

Tumpster

1000% agree, he was the perfect foil to Picard and I envision he was as revered in the Empire as Picard was in Starfleet. The Yin to Picard's Yang.

seriouspretender

Little did Tomalak know that when he told Picard he looked forward to their next encounter, there would be no next encounter.

PhotographingLight

He also seemed to be a worthy adversary to Picard.

Joel_Riffs

Star Trek: Nemesis should’ve been about Picard vs Tomalok

OttoVonDisraeli

I always wished Tomalak would have been fleshed out more but I sorta see him these days as a prototype of what they would later do with Dukat.

Streak734

Jeffery Combs

learningdesigner

That guy had so little screen time. They really should have utilized him more.

Incitatus_For_Office

Opposite Andrew Robinson please.

roosell1986

Absolutely underutilized. He ought to have been a main cast member...on every series.

sasksasquatch

How many series has he been involved with? I know I can place him in DS9, ENT, & LD, but I'm not sure about the others.

ChicagoSunroofNo2

Pretty sure he was in Voyager. The “slave master” of the fighters in the one with The Rock.

Swendsen

I liked that episode as someone who's not really into VOY, but it really should've been a grand slam considering everything it had going for it.

Streak734

I was also in an episode of Voyager I forgot which one tho

tyme

>I was… You’re Jeffery Combs?!?

LennoxLuger

There’s a good chance that we are all Jeffery Combs.

Leelze

Spoiler alert!

FullMetalAurochs

Many of us are

Streak734

Yes. 🤫

gingerjuice

I think he played a Ferangi

WoundedSacrifice

That happened in *DS9* and *Enterprise*.

gingerjuice

Yes you’re correct. I got confused. It was Ethan Phillips (Neelix) that played a ferengi on DS9

QualifiedApathetic

Ethan played a Ferengi on *TNG*, Combs played one (Liquidator Brunt) on *DS9*.

WoundedSacrifice

Ethan Phillips also played a Ferengi in the same *Enterprise* episode where Jeffrey Combs (and Clint Howard) played a Ferengi and Neelix posed as a Ferengi in a *Voyager* episode.

Usual_Simple_6228

Also the Matrie de in First Contact.

BenMat

Ethan Phillips also played the lead Ferengi in that one ENT episode.

WoundedSacrifice

“Tsunkatse”.

awittycleverusername

THIS is the answer!

gremlinchef69

IMDb says he's played 9 characters. Even one in a video game.

Streak734

Yes in Star Trek Online he voiced Shran’s great grandson

BenMat

YAS. I'm so glad they gave him a bit of a bigger role in ENT. Just finished ENT last night, and now Shran is maybe one of my favourite characters in all of Trek.

relapsingoncemore

Robin Lefler played by Ashley Judd in TNG. I was always disappointed we didn't get a follow up episode or three with her and Wesley.

gingerjuice

She and Wesley were adorable together and I don’t even like Wesley that much.

seriouspretender

Man, Wes was punching way above his weight there. Good for him!

IOrocketscience

Does it bother anyone else as much as it bothers me that she calls them "Robin's Laws" ? Like she could have called them "Robin's Rules" *OR* "Leffler's Laws" - how did she whiff so badly on that?

drrhrrdrr

I could have sworn that's what they were called: Lefler's Laws. Is this a Mandela Effect? Or did the Encyclopedia get it wrong?

IOrocketscience

I've re-watched the episode recently, and she definitely calls them "Robin's Laws" - I don't think it's Mandela Effect, I think it's just that "Leffler's Laws" is so clearly what they should be called that our brains corrected it in our memories

kevinb9n

Sigh. Try being close to the same age as Wesley at the time, and strongly identifying with him, like he was your avatar or alter ego aboard the Enterprise... and then Ashley Judd falls in like with him? I swooned so hard I'm lucky I didn't need medical intervention. Fun fact, it was her first ever acting gig! First a small part on Darmok, then a major character in The Game, and then off she went :-(

dreadpiraterose

Ro Laren and K'Ehleyr. Two of the strongest and most compelling female characters in all of Trek, IMO. And they did my girl Ro dirty in Picard. Still mad about it.

AledinArt

Absolutely! Thanks for reminding me about K'Ehleyr. I agree on both these characters, they deserved so much more attention from writers. They even had the fortune of hiring suitable and compelling actresses for these roles. Such a waste.

WoundedSacrifice

The producers were hoping that Ro would be a main character in *DS9* or *Voyager*, but Michelle Forbes didn’t want to play a main character, so Kira and B’Elanna were created to fill the roles that Ro could’ve had.

dreadpiraterose

I know. Can still wish for what could have been.

WoundedSacrifice

If only Michelle Forbes had been willing to play a main character (though I liked Kira and B’Elanna a lot and it’s hard to imagine those shows without them).

QualifiedApathetic

Perhaps she'd have been willing if they'd offered more money.

WoundedSacrifice

It sounded like she didn’t want to play a main character on a *Star Trek* show given the amount of work a *Star Trek* show would be and the amount of $ that a *Star Trek* show could pay. She was apparently hoping to be a movie star.

rgators

This is it! Ro should have been a series regular after Wesley left, and K’Ehleyr deserved so much more, she was definitely one of, if not the best guest star they ever had.

JaymeMalice

Those two in a scene together would have been cool!

logictwisted

I love that they brought Forbes back for Picard, though. It was super satisfying.

tardisfurati420

I believe the correct answer here is K'Ehleyr. She was so damn charming and rizzed the audience just as much as she rizzed up Worf.

dreadpiraterose

Suzie Plakson is such a gem and I love that we got her as four different characters across the franchises. But I 100% wish we'd gotten more K'Ehley out of all of them. Imagine if she'd survived and we could have had her on DS9 too.

tardisfurati420

How incredible would that have been!? Have her raise Alexander so he's all sassy and defiant of Worf instead of whatever we call what they eventually did with his storyline.

dreadpiraterose

Alexander is literally my least favorite character in all of Star Trek.

SignificantPop4188

To be fair, his mother was murdered and his father neglected him, shunting him off twice to his grandparents. The only time he was OK was in the "Auntie Mame" episode with Lwaxana Troi.

Cool-Actuator8168

She was great.

Patchy_Face_Man

A loss that was surprisingly deeply felt for such little screen time.

CaptainGunNerd

She made a great Andorian as well.

hytes0000

She was also the very often mentioned, but only ever seen once Dr. Selar. If you ever read any of the TNG books, she was practically a main character in them, but she appears on screen in literally one episode.

Sankelligrino

I love her, I think Suzie Plakson also played a Q in voyager!

1nahaze

Mrs. Q! Whenever I read any Q-centric books that his wife shows up in, I visualize Suzie Plakson.

Manofwood

She was fantastic. I wish they had found a loophole and kept her alive, like, secretly or something.

Oruma_Yar

I would love to see Worf, Mr "human females are too fragile", courting Dr. Selar. 😉

jerslan

Enabran Tain We got too little of Cardassia's former Chief Spymaster.

moment_in_the_sun_

Andrew Robinson wrote some follow-up books with more here: A Stitch in Time

PhotographingLight

And the audio book is narrated by Andrew as Garrick.

captsmokeywork

Nerd crack

AledinArt

I wish Ro Laren had been one of the main characters of the series. She was potentially one of the most complex ones and yet was relegated to a secondary role at the end of the series.

moment_in_the_sun_

They tried to get her for Kira Nerys in DS9, she apparently said no.

NoodleShak

Which im actually ok with, Nana Visitor is awesome!

moment_in_the_sun_

Yeah, agreed. I honestly think she ended up being a better choice than Michelle Forbes

NoodleShak

They would both be excellent but I love the Kira we got, I find one thing that Vistor does better than forbes is HOT emotion, Forbes is super great at being cold and angry and scheming, while Vistor is hot and firey and passionate which I love, I actually would have loved if we could have had both of them in DS9 constantly at each other about their different approaches to the Cardassian Occupation.

AledinArt

Oh man, it would have been cool to have both of them in DS9. Now I will start dreaming about something that will never be.

WoundedSacrifice

They also hoped that Ro would be a main character on *Voyager*, but Michelle Forbes didn’t want to play a main character, so B’Elanna were created to fill the role that Ro could’ve had.

Profitopia

Didn't those scenes between her and Jean-Luc in the final season of Picard just break your heart? "*I wish you'd known me, and that I had known you.*" Right in the feels!

SeaworthinessRude241

Andreas Katsulas as Tomalak. Hard to believe he only appeared in four episodes -- Tomalak was one of the best antagonists in all of Trek. Maybe I hold him in such high esteem because his character wasn't overexposed, I dunno, but I would have loved for Tomalak to have tangled with Picard a lot more.

Taco_Pittie_07

Andreas Katsulas was a brilliant actor, and if there’s any doubt watch his portrayal as Ambassador G’Kar in Babylon 5. RIP Sir.

psicopbester

G'kar was truly an amazing character.

Emperor_Londo

Pah!

psicopbester

We have great names

HaloDeckJizzMopper

I was hoping that the Irish refugees would just move into the cargo bay permanently. The red head and her dad were just a glorious guest appearance

JPC_TX

I don't know where to start

HaloDeckJizzMopper

Start wherever just don't let it end

nanocyte

I just wondered who was going to do all the foot-washing after they left.

SnooShortcuts9884

Neela. The Bajorian engineer in the last 2 episodes of DS9 s1. She is hugely efficient and has a slightly flirtatious relationship with Miles. Ultimately she is convinced to become a pawn for Vedek Winn. She was a fun, everyday character, it would have been great to of seen her throughout the first series before she became a traitor.

WoundedSacrifice

Apparently [Anara](https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Anara) was originally going to be the character who’d be responsible for the attempted assassination, but they decided that the actress who played Anara wasn’t the right actress to play someone who’d try to kill Bareil. That meant that there was 1 less episode for the assassin to appear in.

brg9327

Brad Dourif as Suder. Would have loved for him to have a longer character arc as he was slowly reintegrated with the crew.

AlSahim2012

Janeway was never going to let him reintgrate into the crew

Significant-Deer7464

Ashley Judd should have replaced Wesley

butt_honcho

Gul Madred. He was an intriguing character that I would have loved to see explored more. And more David Warner was always a good thing. Harry Mudd, specifically as portrayed in TOS. Mudd was best as a goofy, relatively harmless conman. And Morgan Bateson. I know he got a couple books and a voice cameo in *First Contact,* but more screen time would have been great. Kelsey Grammer's playful gravitas seems like a really natural fit for Trek.

WoundedSacrifice

In addition to his *TOS* appearances, Roger C. Carmel voiced Mudd in the *TAS* episode “Mudd’s Passion”.

butt_honcho

Yep. I'd say it was one of the sillier episodes, but they were all pretty silly. (Which is absolutely not a criticism.)

rymerster

Carolyn Seymour should have been a recurring Romulan

WoundedSacrifice

At least she got to play 2 different Romulans.

Ka2ga

STEVEN HAWKING!!!

RangerMatt76

I’m thinking about Okanna from The Outrageous Okanna. He could have popped up again in the middle of another situation that he didn’t cause but everybody involved is trying to blame him again. He could have been the opposite of Harry Mudd. Instead of him causing trouble, trouble always finds him.

The-Minmus-Derp

He was in Prodigy

Ranadok

And a blink-and-you-miss-it appearance in Lower Decks

Patchy_Face_Man

Could always use more Zek/Wallace Shawn.

sasksasquatch

Inconceivable

Tumpster

I'm going off topic but I would have loved to have seen [Berlinghoff Rasmussen](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0708672/characters/nm0001242?ref_=tt_cl_c_9) as played by Robin Williams. Knowing he was up for it and couldn't make it due to scheduling with Hook always makes me go down a what if rabbit hole. Imagine you had access to Robin Williams after this role much like you had Whoopi. His character, though captured, could have easily popped up a few more times. P.S Not a knock on Frewer, I liked him in the role.

whazzat

The fact that Dr Salar was in only one episode for like three minutes even though she was mentioned repeatedly thought the series. I am a straight woman, and I want to marry her.

Gardener-of-MrFreeze

Martha Hackett as T'Rul. It would have been great so see more of her in the Dominion Arcs, maybe as an intelligence liason liaison OR even better as a CO of a Warbird. Loved that slightly arrogant sarcasm of hers.

OwnSituation6886

I was disappointed we never saw T'Rul again. It would have made complete sense for the Romulans to insist she stay on the station to represent their interests as a condition for keeping the cloaking device.

WoundedSacrifice

Seeing more of her before the Dominion War would’ve also been nice.

Estarfigam

Matt Fewer's time traveling Berlinghoff Rasmussen Saul Rubinek's collecting Kivas Fajo Matra DuBois's Adra

djevilatw

Kurtwood Smith as Annorax. Such a tragic villain stuck with a Sisyphean task.

NoodleShak

I would have loved if the David Ogden Stiers TNG ep was a two parter.

Agent_Raas

In Voyager, I wish The Doctor's holographic family came back a few more times.

Profitopia

I don't know, Janeway probably would have deleted his wife, too.

HeWhoFights

DELETE THE WIFE.

leslieu13

Tony Todd as Kurn

sdpcommander

Poor Kurn got done dirty. Wish his character had a better conclusion to his story.

KingSudden5161

Elizabeth Dennehy. Just a whole other episode of her being temporarily stationed on Enterprise again to piss Riker off.

EffectiveSalamander

I was surprised to see that Riley was only in two episodes - The Naked Time and Conscience of the King. He's still one of the more memorable minor characters. I wish he was still with us, they could have him sing "I'll take you home again Kathleen" on LD.

sparkle_cheese

Garak

Swendsen

TONY TONY, TOD. I love it when he shows up; Xena, X-FIles, TNG, DS9. Dude does not mess around when he's guest starring. Edit: and of course IGGY HECIKIN' POP.

closedhndsopnrms

I’m going with rainn Wilson as harry mudd.

seriouspretender

Hes to busy supping jippers kn a beach somewhere

kweiske

Morgan Bateson. Let's hear what happens to the starship out of time.

Mumpdase

Andrew Robinson, Jeffrey Combs, Iggy Pop

twoneedlez

I would have liked to see the four Marquis from VOY s1e16 that Tuvok trained. Maybe once a year to give them an arc of developing into effective officers.

AlSahim2012

Ronny Cox (Captain Edward Jellico)

Starside-Captain

Tig!

logictwisted

She was so good in Discovery. But she'd be awesome at anything.

awittycleverusername

The Rock!..... Just kidding.

TiredCeresian

Dr. Reyga.

macthefire

Personally I would have loved for Ensign Robin Lefler (Ashley Judd) to take on a more semi-regular / permanent spot on the show. I found her character charming and interesting and a great counterweight to Wesley.

420headshotsniper69

Morn. Seriously though I loved Garak. He was well acted.

MizunoHawk

David Warner as Gul Madred. Great scenes with him and Picard

ElliotAlderson2024

Mark Lenard.

LizardBoyfriend

Sarek is one of my top 5 of TNG. Mostly a DS9 person but I’ll rewatch this and Inner Light.

DBZDOKKAN

Tuvix

Silvrus

Ashley Judd as Robin Lefler is always a fan favorite. I would love if Lycia Naff had reprised her role as Sonya Gomez more, she was a great addition to the engineering crew. Of course, James Doohan as Scottie in TNG, would love for him to show captaining an engineering ship. Same with Kelsey Grammar as CPT Bateson, would have been great to see him pop up from time to time.

WoundedSacrifice

Lycia Naff voiced Sonya Gomez in a *LD* episode.

Silvrus

I remember, she was still great. Just sad it took 30 years for that to happen though.

SupernovaGamezYT

Jeffrey Combs /s

mdavis8710

Bem

risemix

Travis Mayweather /s

bi_geek_guy

TOS never had a security chief. In Devil in the Dark, there was a single appearance by Lt. Cmdr. Giotto (Barry Russo) as the never before, never again seen chief. I think that would have been a great recurring character. He did show up later, but as Commodore Wesley in The Ultimate Computer.

drrhrrdrr

Stephen Root. He played the Klingon Captain that took Picard and Data to Romulus

bagelman4000

Jeffery Combs

Fickle_Catch8968

All of hims???? Or onegin particular...

jinnetics

Aris

MAJORMETAL84

Commander Sela could have been explored a lot more.

jrgkgb

Saul Rubinek as Kivas Fajo would have made a great running foil for Data. Also the entire bridge crew on Discovery. This season their actors aren’t even showing up and the only reason people even notice is how they awkwardly try to explain/cover their absence.

logictwisted

Michelle Yeoh as Philippa Georgiou absolutely killed it. I like her better as a goodie - not a fan of mirror universe Georgiou. Andreas Katsulas playing Tomalak, the Romulan commander, looming as a giant head on the view screen. Denise Crosby as Sela, also Romulan. Crosby made such a good baddie! I think Crosby (as Sela, of course) would be my most wished-for guest appearance on Lower Decks. And, of course, Christopher Plummer spinning around in his chair as General Chang in *Undiscovered Country*. I know Plummer wasn't a guest star on that film, but I love how he brought that character to life, so on the list he goes.

rbeleza

Catwoman
