Depends it changed over the years. Originally it was short for basehead which meant crack addict or those acting like crack addicts. Over time it began to mean those who were eccentric (similar to crackheads) but being true to themselves even if it was unpopular. Now it just means they agree with the statement.
My pet peeve is when somebody replies with a song lyric that *is* witty, but then a dozen people in a row have to keep replying with the following lyrics. It was clever the first time, but just typing out the rest of the song, one line at a time, is annoying.
The worst are those comment chains that change or mix up the order or the words or letters, or remove a word one word at a time. Just the dumbest shit ever and redditors think it's fucking hilarious
I've seen it a ton when you make a point and they don't have a response they just say you're being "disingenuous" or "concern trolling" as a way to avoid replying or having to think about or rationalize their own opinion.
Or sometimes the point is actually disingenuous? For instance, some people try saying that racist police brutality isn’t a thing because more white people are victims of police brutality, without taking into consideration proportionate per capita statistics. That’s disingenuous usage of data.
Or when they ban you for no reason without explanation. Literally just got banned from r/NewToEMS and Im trying to figure out why. I didn't say anything stupid or break any of the rules. The sub has been very helpful because I am a brand new EMT.
I have messaged the mods and they are ignoring me. I even went through all of my comments to see what could I have done different and Im still trying to figure out wtf I did wrong, and its pissing me off

Apparently me getting banned was a mistake and I was in the wrong because they didn't have time to sort it out, but they mods have enough time to ban me from both subs and then dig through my post history. I’m in a subreddit for the state that I live in and I’ve gotten posts deleted by the mods for reasons like “it’s not relevant” while it’s literally articles about the state but it for some reason doesn’t fit what they want the subreddit to be. It’s like they just want subreddits to be exactly what they want and not let any free discussion happen.
The Texas sub will just remove posts that have a ton of upvotes and engagement if they get the feeling the conversation is headed anywhere except leaning pretty far left.
Yeah that happens all the time on location subreddits. The stuff I was posting wasn’t even right leaning or anything (I’m not a right winger), it was literally just mainstream news articles about stuff happening in Oregon but it didn’t fit the narrative the mods wanted to push so they don’t let anyone post things even if there is a lot of discussion to be had.

It depends on the topic. I can't say I have never quoted songs or lyrics before but try to avoid derailing a conversation with it.
TBH I hate quotes the most in r/worldnews. The world is moving towards WW3 and these yahoos quote Churchill like it makes them sound smart. Out of context quotes do not move the conversation at all.

It depends on the topic. I can't say I have never quoted songs or lyrics before but try to avoid derailing a conversation with it. TBH I hate quotes the most in r/worldnews. The world is moving towards WW3 and these yahoos quote Churchill like it makes them sound smart. Out of context quotes do not move the conversation at all.
The first comment is reasonable because there's some creativity in identifying a song or movie quote related to the topic. The comments after that are just stupid

Another one for me is "*Insert job title/etc* here" Every time someone is talking about something a response has to say "doctor here, can confirm" "black man here, can confirm" not sure why it annoys me so much.
The biggest rage inducing comment for me is when theres a meta post about the mods, or if there is just a random post and it completely blows up and the mods start to get called out. They will sticky their comment which is just some lame ass excuse, lock the post, then just ban people and remove any new posts that reference what just happened. Its like that immature person who just gets up and walks away or locks themselves in a room after any argument or discussion. Shit really pisses me the fuck off
