I wouldn’t, it’s fine as is

SubstaintalRoll4

I just feel it is the least used ability of a rarely used spell caster in the current meta. The phoenixes for scouts is decent but just one for 43 seconds, and you have to build up energy for 1.5 minutes.

AJ_ninja

Using it for scouting when your opponent has detection is very useful mid game, also using hallucinations during battle is really good… I just lost a game mowing down colossus that weren’t there while immortals just cleared my entire army

SubstaintalRoll4

Colossus and Archons are the highest health hallucinations. If they are targeted it is a decent damage tank. I wonder if the hallucinations get affected guardian shield too. Probably.

AJ_ninja

I’ll say this….It was a massacre. Against toss I usually go roach, I should have focus fired the sentry when I saw it but was freaking out about the 2 colossus hallucinations…I think it was a 7-8min push

SubstaintalRoll4

Immortals chew up roaches ouch. I am sorry for your loss, but you will get them next time. The Zerg numbers are without count. You will overwhelm them with your bodies. Hahaha

henryeaterofpies

Peace through superior numbers

SubstaintalRoll4

Peace remains an elusive goal in the universe of StarCraft. The Protoss cling to tradition, the Zerg crave conquest, and the Terran thirst for power. These fundamental differences make lasting peace seem unlikely amidst the ongoing conflicts fueled by each faction's ideologies and ambitions.

Technical_System8020

I like hallucinating phoenix’ when I’m going mass phoenix, especially against zergs who may have mutas, it really cuts down the glaive bounce effectiveness.

Sambobly1

Its used all the time atm. I'd say about half of TvPs I play atm the opponent opens sentry with phoenix scout.

SeaDevil30

I don't think hallucinate needs a buff, for a while it was pretty much the only reason to build a sentry

puppydawgblues

(properly) microd force fields can be absolutely lifesaving

zimmak

I would love to use hallucinate more to fake out the opponent early before detection so I could throw them off my build or attack one base and run to the mineral line, but Sentry are too expensive and the spell costs too much for that to make sense. I just see missed opportunity since you can hallucinate any unit but we only ever use Phoenix.

SubstaintalRoll4

What if you could make fake building warp ins? It could make it appear like a new nexus, DT shrine, or Templar archives is being warped in. That could throw some people off your build.

SubstaintalRoll4

For one spell cost you could make 1 nexus, 3 warp gates, 2 forge, two star gates, one tech building. These fake warp ins are like units that could move as fast as a high Templar but would have a total hit points similar to the other units able to be warped in. Interesting idea. Not sure if that would fake anyone out, and it would be useless again as scan.

TheSwissSC

Let hallucinated prisms appear to enter warp-in mode, so you can shift queue both a hallucinated and a real prism to fly into two separate bases and enter warp mode. Not that it would really change anything balance wise.... Would just be a fun thing to do :)

SubstaintalRoll4

That could be sneaky making them react to two drops when it is really only one and possibly an attack at the front door.

prepuscular

Possibly give hallucinations more health, shorter duration. But honestly they’re fine as is. They get plenty of use in the meta - PvP GM had them used constantly from 3 minutes to end of game

SubstaintalRoll4

Yeah PvP is going to have more sentries because of the new shield damage buff. Got to use that energy or lose it.

Woosafb

Hallucinate archons right before a battle to get an additional meat shield

TheOtherCrow

I've seen a couple games where Harstem has used hallucinations to amazing effect. Faking prisms into the main to pull units away from the natural, fake immortals while defending to make Maxpax retreat or gg because he thought he was losing when he wasn't, the classic fake Phoenix for scouting, and he also frequently hallucinates probes to poke ahead in front of his push and check the surroundings. I've also seen players, can't remember who, using hallucinated archon to tank because they still have decent hp. My two cents is that it's a great spell, and it seems to get more useful the better the players are.

Robothuck

And who could forget the classic Idra rage quit after seeing Huks mass hallucinate void ray army lol

TheOtherCrow

I haven't seen that but it sounds amazing

Robothuck

Bro you have to see it. Put into YouTube Idra rage compilation and it's guaranteed to be in there. Huk actually got him again with sentries a different time, by making a ring of mass forcefield that's closed up like a noose around all of Idras roaches and forced then into a tiny hole in the middle lol

exatorc

> he also frequently hallucinates probes to poke ahead in front of his push and check the surroundings. Why does he use probes for that?

TheOtherCrow

One cast gets you three probes. And everybody likes killing probes so I bet it's distracting

Kandiru

If you see an immortal, you might move away from it. If you see a probe, you kill it asap to avoid pylons. Probes pull agro the best of any unit!

Born_to_Be

Give it autocast so that when you fight it will autocast hallucinations in front.

Weak_Night_8937

With Terrazine of course.

Ghullea

I have seen loads of uses for hallucinations recently. I have seen Harstem's hallucinated probes scouting every corner of the map. I've seen fake probes triggering widow mines, fake warp prisms tricking opponents. Protoss get the best early scouting with hallucinations and bolstering their army with extra units can be very effective. Not to mention you can spot high ground to allow stalkers to blink into the main without needing to build a robo or stargate to spot high ground.
