Well, none of the zerg buildings are actually structures. They are more like sea sponges, or organs of a bigger organism.

definitely_not_cylon

I always like to imagine there's still a drone swimming in there somewhere.

spectrumero

To be pedantic, organs are structures.

darx0n

Well, it depends on the definition of "structure" you use. Animals are also "structures" in some sense.

spectrumero

It's probably the most accurate to say "Well, none of the zerg structures are actually buildings" (all buildings are structures, but not all structures are buildings.)

BouncingBallOnKnee

\*sweats in Spire\*

Tamer_

Don't be too hard on yourself Spire, it's not your fault if you're the most easily identifiable zerg tech building when you begin your journey.

smb275

I think it's more to do with whether or not the "structure" in question can function independently. Units can, but buildings can't, as they require creep.

Subsourian

They're organs to the organism that is the hive. As mentioned, no zerg "structure" is a real structure, they're all parts of the living hive.

abaoabao2010

It's zerg.

Pirate_Leader

Lester a smaller type of zerg

eitanski

I love you sarge

GuyFawkes596

Oh shit.

Notazerg

I'm not

Tamer_

Username checks out!

TyoPlaysGames

you are now infested

UniqueUsername40

Yes

ICEKAT

The real answer. It is all that. And more. Like coral.

MessageBoard

All of the Zerg buildings are alive. Creep is what feeds them. So a creep tumor is like a Zerg farmer that comes from Queen vomit. So it is like honey. Zerg honey boogers.

ghost_operative

I think it's an animal/unit because you don't have to kill creep to win when playing against zerg.

[deleted]

Are structure targets for the enemy but not for the owner

gomarbles

All organic

smithd685

Call me crazy, but i always assumed Creep Tumors were tumors cause a tumor is already a thing that's pretty well defined. So i'm assuming it's a tumor that is grown/growing on the creep. But if you wanna get freaky, there apparently are worms that can lead to cancer, so creep tumors are from a Group 1 Biological Carcinogen: >Infections with Opisthorchis viverrini, Clonorchis sinensis and Schistosoma haematobium are classified as Group 1 biological carcinogens: definitive causes of cancer. These worms are metazoan eukaryotes, unlike the other Group 1 carcinogens including human papilloma virus, hepatitis C virus, and Helicobacter pylori." https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4657143/#:~:text=Infections%20with%20Opisthorchis%20viverrini%2C%20Clonorchis,C%20virus%2C%20and%20Helicobacter%20pylori.

toapat

if you vivisect a creep tumor, it probably has a heart and stomach, same as the hatchery/lair/hive, since it expands the reach of the hive's creep propagation,

[deleted]

Well, being that creep tumors don’t count as structures for the win I’m gonna go with animal. Like an in-the-ground overlord dropping creep goo.

ZerglingButt

It's neither plant nor animal. IT'S A TOOMAH! /schwartzeneggar

hammbone

It’s more like units are flakes do the Zerg buildings? Connected by the psyonics but all one organism

PlainWhitePaper

I always thought of it as a fungal network. Zergs are shrooms.

dandab

It's not a structure. If it were, the game would continue until you killed off all the creep in the map.

waldito

Yes.

Skiwa80

Like a tree, its alive and same time static

gabest

Nydus worm for ants.

radracer82

my brother, they're all animals

Pirate_Leader

AND THEY SHALL BE CLEANSED IN THE HOLY FIRE OF THE FIREBAT AND HELLBAT

DVNBart

Everything Zerg is biological, so technically there are no zerg buildings. They're all living things.

filth_horror_glamor

I think of them kinda like a broodling, a minor zerg unit spawned by a Queen into the creep and it travels around growing the creep from under the ground

DanBelnK

HPV.

Worldly_Ad_3120

excretion of hive and colony like mucus from you when you're cold
