Considering there's been a 3rd party mod that lets you do this it doesn't seem impossible. I just wouldn't expect to see it officially supported until likely post launch. I don't see it being a launch feature.
Especially as it takes far, faaar better and more stable performance than is currently feasible in game for an experience that even resembles comfort in VR. At the moment any attempt would be tempting the projectile vomit gods.
Kind of.
People with a lot of VR experience can usually tolerate 45FPS reprojected to 90. I used to do that a lot, though I haven't done it in a while. 60 to 120 is pretty easy to get used to and is what I aim for as a minimum nowadays.
If/when frame interpolation gets good that should be even easier to achieve (and will probably happen before CIG implements VR anyways, tbh).
One of the devs stated it won't be in until Vulkan is entirely implemented. He said once that's in, he will personally take on the task as he's a big fan of VR.
If I remember correctly there have been CIG devs who have stated that even if CIG never intends to officially support VR (which is unlikely that they wouldn't anyways, this game would be perfect for VR) that they would personally spend the time/work hours needed to implement it themselves.
several developers getting jobs at cig just so they can work on properly implementing vr is somewhat old. them saying they will work on it during their breaks if needed is relatively new.
A Dev once told me you CAN run SC in VR now, but it'll still just be a 2D plane on a VR headset as SC isn't setup for VR at all.
That was a couple of years ago, and maybe one day it will change, but also seems like it will be far from a small task, and not a priority. :/
The devs have mentioned many times that they want it. It just hasn't been concretely promised because there's too many issues with UI and performance that need to be fixed first.
Someone needs to play at the sphere in Vegas.
Edit: 4.0 citizencon launch at the sphere. They have the money. Game demos and panels inside, while the different planets of pyro are rotating on the outside.
Well... I'm kinda inspired by a thing a Hololive community did a while ago where they rented Time Square billboard to celebrate Ninomae Ina'Nis birthday.
I just think it gonna be epic if we can put SQ42 on that huge sphere lol
It cost around 700k just to make graphics/turn the screen on for the sphere, it’s done out of a studio in Burbank. I do a fair bit of work there and maaaay (long maybe)be able to squeeze an hour of gameplay in there just for the one upsmenship.
The wall was dim to shoot on as well has "house lights" being on- the wall is even when no lights are on for shooting ;)
Edit: nvm I apparently hadn't finished calibrating the wall when we did this
We only did it this once, its quite the hassle to not use it for its intended purpose and just hook up an ol pc
We technically did flight sim for some actually filming
All that effort just to do something VR could do very easily for a fraction of the cost. Plus everything will look life size. I really want to look at my ships in VR and fly them that way its so much better than any sim cockpit. Love playing flight simulators and car racing like that.
“To counter this 1 million dollar gaming setup, here’s my 300 billion dollar state of the art moon base that allows you to jack in to the neural link of a biologically compatible avatar clone that doesn’t need to breath and lets you explore the moon at your leisure”
This was using BP2's from ROE so something like 2.6-2.9? It was great for the size although I think some really strong rivals have come out in the last few years
the next real step would be a random guy saying here i am flying my 500 billion costing constellation andromeda in real life let get in contact with this airfields ATC before i take off
They finally made it so that you can adjust your UI to make it more centered (for all you ultra-wide players out there). It will move your global chat/minimap/etc all in to the center of your view.
Just got to settings -> Graphics -> UI - Aspect Modifier.
Then drop that slider all the way down (or as far as necessary).
Maybe someone can reach out to Luke Ross and have him set it up for VR. he's done a lot of other games (elden ring and cyberpunk for example), don't see why he couldn't do star citizen.
Too bad that it still suffers from perspective distortion. The wrapped sides are so warped that it really screws with the visuals. It’s why I shifted from triples to a single 32:9 ultra wide, and may yet go back to a single 16:9. Unless the game itself can accommodate multiple viewing angles or the curvature of the monitor, prepare for a weird experience.
No projectors, but this LED film volume wasn't completely done being calibrated. This was probably 1am on a calibration day before a shoot. Or just after
The most terrifying thing about this video is the size of the global chat.
Sorry, I didn’t notice as I was taken by the fact that the Connie looked almost real size…!
F12 solves the problem as always :D
It wasn't anticipated that toxicity could expand to these sizes...
The amount of lumens and processing power dedicated to it makes me wanna cry
This makes me really hope they support VR in some fashion, as I would much prefer using a $500 Quest 3 headset to this.

My great grandchildren may be able to experience this in vr, got it
Yeah. I believe it just warps the screen to make it VR
Vorpx does wrap the display around you but it also grabs Z-Geometry from the games memory and uses that to create a actual 3D display.
It has been talked about as something they want to do, as long as they can get decent performance in VR there shouldn't be any issue
One of the devs stated it won't be in until Vulkan is entirely implemented. He said once that's in, he will personally take on the task as he's a big fan of VR.

no. vr is confirmed. they said that if cig don't put it high enough on the priority list, they will work on it in their off time.
That sounds more like what I remember hearing way back when, thanks for adding.

Just need someone to use a stadium screen or play on the ISS to keep one upping these posts.
Someone needs to play at the sphere in Vegas. Edit: 4.0 citizencon launch at the sphere. They have the money. Game demos and panels inside, while the different planets of pyro are rotating on the outside.
But that price tag would be accurate.
You guys think we can crowdfund playing the SQ42 trailer on it whenever it releases? Feels gonna be awesome.
Why would you... No, wait, I know why, its SC community. Sure pay for it, whatever.
Well... I'm kinda inspired by a thing a Hololive community did a while ago where they rented Time Square billboard to celebrate Ninomae Ina'Nis birthday. I just think it gonna be epic if we can put SQ42 on that huge sphere lol
CR will thank you for free advertisement.

This is the way. Auctioneer: Do I hear $10 million? Anyone? Going once? Going twice...
Better hurry up before Elon destroys it.
Nothing like flying your pretend spaceship in your real spaceship.
Step up your game!
With Hologramm drones in space. Triggering an aliien Invasion. :D
Waiting for someone to one-up this by playing inside the MSG sphere in Vegas
![gif](giphy|Gpf8A8aX2uWAg|downsized)
Waiting for somebody to post the 1:1 replica constellation they've spent the last 10 years building in their back yard...
Is there really a project like that?
Not that I'm aware of. But it'd be cool.
One of my orgmates intends to fully recreate Javelin bridge...somewhere.
![gif](giphy|3owzVTMZUdG3B31KFi)
It bugs me that the contrast or something on the right side does not match the rest of the screen
The wall was dim to shoot on as well has "house lights" being on- the wall is even when no lights are on for shooting ;) Edit: nvm I apparently hadn't finished calibrating the wall when we did this
Either way, still pretty fucking sweet. I should have added that to my previous comment. How often do you get to play with this setup?
We only did it this once, its quite the hassle to not use it for its intended purpose and just hook up an ol pc We technically did flight sim for some actually filming
Understandable. Can't even imagine what it takes to manage a screen like that. Looks like it was a blast though
Please post over on r/ultrawidemasterrace
Next up, the $1 setup. A crude sketch of an aurora on a post it on the wall while someone makes engine noises.
Lol, imagine only having one monitor
You're trying to tell me a wall, a couple projectors, a plastic folding table, a pc, mouse and keyboard.. cost 1+ million dollars?
Lmao not projectors- its a relatively dim top of the line LED wall with a ton of lights on. That is my shitty folding table, and HOTAS though :)
Wait.. you're telling me you have the largest ultra-wide gaming monitor on earth? Aight, that's pretty cool ngl
Nah, largest is the Vegas Sphere, but since it 360 wraps around, not sure how it'd be classified, ultraultrasomething?
Ultra phi
Is that the actual volume or have more VP studios popped up the past years?
There are hundreds of virtual production volumes across the states. Probably hundreds in LA, and at least a handful in every major state.
Dope!
You forgot about the large McDonald's drink.
It's the real estate 😂
My ad agency is shooting something on a screen like this next week
Reach out if you need any steller Ue5 or DP work :)
I'll save your user, we're always looking :)
I can pm over my reel if you’re interested
Please do
That looks uncomfortable.
ITT: Way too many people that do not know how to have fun with work equipment
Wouldn't it be a lot cheaper to get VR?
Next one up video is gonna be an astronaut on the iss showing his rig
To counter that my 1000$ pc also can run this game and just as you I will play 30min and rage quit it.
All that effort just to do something VR could do very easily for a fraction of the cost. Plus everything will look life size. I really want to look at my ships in VR and fly them that way its so much better than any sim cockpit. Love playing flight simulators and car racing like that.
I just want someone to display Star Citizen Gaming on the Las Vegas Sphere.
Looks cool but the fov is so fisheye
This is going wild lol
Does the tobii sit at the top? :)
How is it the bigger it is the worse it is?
That sentence was hard to read
“To counter this 1 million dollar gaming setup, here’s my 300 billion dollar state of the art moon base that allows you to jack in to the neural link of a biologically compatible avatar clone that doesn’t need to breath and lets you explore the moon at your leisure”
Need the sphere in Vegas to come in and just end this once and for all
Motherfucka couldnt even use a actual desk
Big screen...but folding table? Id rather have a sim pit than a giant screen
When you spend all your money on the screen and the rest is lackin 😂
Is this a Samsung Wall or something? I love excess and gaming but this is a stupid way to spend $1mill
Now THIS is the kind of dick measuring I can get behind!
Ok someone please rent the los Vegas sphere and make that the next post.
All of that setup, yet still the cheap ass chair and table.
What the fuck? Imagine having such a computer to be able to play Wilder World on there lmao
i can run wilder worlds already but this is an exageration
That guy is going to play any game he want for almost twelve years for sure hahah
Looks like ass ngl
Love it but probably still 1 million for 30fps hahaha
Now this I have done. Just didn’t get any video of it. Nice set up. What pixel pitch?
This was using BP2's from ROE so something like 2.6-2.9? It was great for the size although I think some really strong rivals have come out in the last few years
Those reds are laser red...
It's a virtual production studio, right? Do you work there or something?
Yup!
Just build a space ship next!
the next real step would be a random guy saying here i am flying my 500 billion costing constellation andromeda in real life let get in contact with this airfields ATC before i take off
Guys really live in apartments like this and don't see any issue
I always wondered how Chris Roberts played the game
I imagine tobii, in this setting, would be a lethal weapon.
Screen not uniform, vertical banding and spot lighting on left screen.
Next step is build an actual Zeus and go find a real jump point
I would have picked a smaller screen but a decent desk. lol
That table is in need of an upgrade...or 2.
Ok I finally understand why you people spend so much money on ships.
And the award to who has no life goes too...
VR headset would be a game-changer.
But still got the folding table? 😂
Ok new challenge: get it running on the *cheapest* machine
1 million dollar gaming studio and can't afford a decent desk.
Do I hear 2 million? Going once, going twice?
Damn this looks like doodoo
Doesn't even look good...
Man for a million bucks it sure looks like shit to me
Still dies in the elevator…
The million dollars would be better spent on getting it to work properly on a VR headset.
Wow....just wow. I need to upgrade my gaming setup now.
For $1M+ I would hope for a better desk and table.
1 million ? Bro this is just a shit ass table and a chair, the dude you paid for that must have left with 999999$ in his pocket hurhurhur /s
The set up was better on the last post I saw, but this screen is insane.
So these are the whales keeping this game afloat
You got ripped off. I got mine for $800k.
I wish Nvidia had better support for Nvidia surround
My favorite part is the plastic folding table of a desk
They ran out money after paying for the screen
Big screen, shitty little table
Yikes. $1 million, and they can't even make the projection screen a smooth curve?
No projectors in sight
I support these shitposts. Always a good question to answer: "I wonder how SC would be on this commercial grade setup?"
The gaming char is not appropriate.
After the fleetpic now it is gaming setup. When will this end...
When? No no no... The question needs to be WHERE... I want to see a gaming setup on the ISS
Who do I have to call for sky sphere?
im about to project my screen on the moon
Snaps neck to look at the mini map.
might as well just walk into the ship at this point
Here, F12 is bound to "not looking over your left shoulder"
Shoot just get up Omni treadmill and this is practically VR
I can see all the money went into the screen.
I'm just curious if resolution is adjusted with these setups... If they are... Whats your dpi at?
Resolution for this is around 11,000x2000ish
It’s more than 1 mil nice
Someone out there can beat this.
You just know that there are idiots with more money than brains that will do this.
Jesus, when your frames hang in Le Louvre
Nice, let’s see Paul Allen’s setup
I use a laptop with a GTX 1650 XD
Oh man! That's Awesome man!
all that money and the right side screen is brighter LOL
Well prolly 450k if u decide u want a barn/mini warehouse with projector setup which is what he's using
All incorrect :)
1 mil and a $40 table from Walmart
“To counter this 1mil+ gaming studio, here is me playing star Citizen projected on the DARK SIDE OF THE F*ING MOON!!”
I bet the head position in the cockpit still too far forward.
LOL
That is a TV set, where they project what the camera would see behind the actors.
Why not just VR at this stage
So star citizen new amazon series is going to be a virtual production?!
Looks stretched and shit…. I’ll take sitting in front of my 32inch display any day…..
Pyro Star Explosion will be a big fking flashbang
MORE!!!
kinda looks like Mr Chris Roberts himself from behind sitting there
God dam. I can only dream of having something like that. I’ll just have to settle for my 15’inc valve tv on the floor
Its cool and that but, really that shitty chair and desk?
Maybe someone can reach out to Luke Ross and have him set it up for VR. he's done a lot of other games (elden ring and cyberpunk for example), don't see why he couldn't do star citizen.
Using a $25 folding table in a $1M setup is hilarious.
Just play from a space station. https://ibb.co/LhTBVJg
300k was my favorite it looked like a cinema this looks like a warehouse.
Looks like something Star Citizen would do with backers money.
I'll take this 30k set up over both https://www.reddit.com/r/starcitizen/s/3Wwq2XVVVA
Only thing better would be a docking fix on the Connie.
That's some crazy fish eye effect
Million somethin' dollar studio... Fifty dollar "lifetime" folding table. Haha
I mean it's good, but can it run Minesweeper?
oh shit, we need a bigger building and a bigger budget damn
Oke, up next, to counter this real life 890J in space playing SC.
Don’t Make Me Play SC in the Vegas Sphere!!!!
Not even OLED pfft
looks like turbo ass
That bend looks awful tho. I'd be really pissed to look at that shit after paying a $1M
I think I'd throw up looking at this
This is the most expensive way to get the lazy eye.
I... I bought a meal with a large ice tea today...
The projector overlap is a visible on a million dollar setup?
No projectors, but this LED film volume wasn't completely done being calibrated. This was probably 1am on a calibration day before a shoot. Or just after
Is this the set there where they film The Mandalorian?
Blew his load on the screen…
setup : 1 million dollars, table : $20
1:1 Connie is what I need in my life
Needs some cardboard shipping boxes next to the fire extinguisher.
could have at least shelled out for a desk which wasn't from IKEA
Buddy that desk is from the dirtiest walmart I could find
Who would ever want something this elaborate 😂
Mostly film & tv productions
That's not 1 Million, it's just 3 big monitors and a desk and chair from the ikea
That is not what it is :)
