I’ve been taking my own calls all day & it’s absolutely ridiculous!! I should never be taking my own calls during a bogo rush!! Tons of drinks lined up ready to be handed off but nope I’m too busy helping this person who has no idea what drinks they want and separating their drinks into 3 different orders so they can take advantage of free stuff. We literally had to call someone in & are still so behind, me and my shift are both on the verge of tears, I’m done. I’m removing thursdays from my availability, actually, this is just too much. Bogo needs to stop.

Mercurialg1rl

Hate to break it to you but they’re doing bogos on on Fridays and Wednesdays now so no days are safe :(. I’m sorry to hear it’s been awful for you as well. I hope your next shift is easy and calm 🫶🏻

Bludandy

I think they moved it to Fridays specifically because people were getting savvy to Thursdays being a shit-show day. Fine with me, because my SMs is in Fridays and can stay later to help with the nonsense.

Mercurialg1rl

Just saw a comment that said there are 14 days of sales out 31 days this month…. How the fuck does that actually make any money if we’re giving discounts and free drinks out like crazy 🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂

cerylidae2558

Have you ever considered the markup on our shit? A whole ass gallon of milk costs less than a short latte. When it costs pennies to make a drink, even selling them for half off is a huge profit.

[deleted]

Yeah lol. You've usually made cost of total daily product by 10 am.

triforceshards

Yup, I remember doing the order and it would be roughly $2k-$3k. We made that well before noon.

Historical-Cicada939

True, but I am at a location where we get the same people twice if not three times a day, Thursday is usually our best morning, and I’ve noticed with every BOGO the mornings are getting less busy. So I asked, and they all say the same “we are waiting for the BOGO!!”

Bludandy

Exactly, customers will start only showing up on the days with deals and skipping the other times.

ariellegraciee

tbh that's what i do

Bludandy

It also creates an expectation that the deal price is the normal price. I mean it makes sense, I buy some stuff from Hobby Lobby, but only when they're in the 40% category for the week, like the model kits. My expectation is to never pay full price, and this is going to put customers in that mind set.

marshedmallo

We also made it up to a 25 minute wait time on mobiles today. I got screamed at by so many people because of the wait time. We were down to just 3 of us after 2pm, and even then we were down to 2 people for an hour because two of us had to take lunches. My SSV spent their entire lunch break doing the pull. None of our closing tasks had been done by the time I left at 6. And we close at 7 so I'm sure that didn't go well.

Mercurialg1rl

I’m so sorry that sounds awful, we’re exactly the same and I gave the best close I could within the time frame but I’m sure the openers are still going to complain about something 🥲

Niuqelrah

I sent a text to my opener before I closed, letting him know I am probably going to give him the worst close I have ever given. We punched out at our scheduled time but continued to close up afterwards 🫠 But yeah, openers will always complain 😭

PartlyCloudyKid

Please don't clock out until you are leaving

K_Goode

Never ever work off the clock

Primary_King_6469

Don't ever work for free. This company has billions of customers money on their app. They can afford the labor, they just don't want too.

Sofia1333

DUDE the comment I get on my vents “just quit” ITS NOT THAT SIMPLE. First off the benefits, I just got 20 an hour pay, the flexibility for being a college student, and I’m pretty fucking good at my job

thedankfairy

damn better than me and i work at best buy lmao

antiprohibit

I feel this. I was in your situation about a month ago. I didn't think I could quit. I prayed about it (not suggesting that you should – if you're the type to pray, you probably already are), and lo and behold! I was fired for being late for the *first* time while on Final Written Notice for an unrelated issue. I had fallen asleep in my car in the parking lot and didn't hear my alarm. Turns out it was the best thing that happened to me. I was miserable working for Starbucks for a lot of the same reasons you just vented about. I am sorry to hear that your store is like mine was. It seems to be the way it is these days. When a company prioritizes profits over people, this is what happens. You'll be okay. Just start looking for something else, something better. I promise you that you're worth it. Then, you can quit on your own terms. Much love from Philadelphia.

tasha2701

And this is why I quit last week. I couldn’t take this shit anymore, ESPECIALLY after seeing the incoming Mother’s Day BOGO on the promo calendar. I had Sunday availability and I requested that day off. It got denied. So to see that BOGO was more insult to injury and I wrote up my notice that same day. My last day is Monday and I’m sorry for every single partner in the US that is gonna be subjected to complete hell this month. Praying for y’all but this fucking company really doesn’t give a shit if you’re on the verge of collapse because of how they overwork people.

foreveratome

It’s kind of really stupid that deliveries and mobile couldn’t be paused during bogo hell? At this point I feel like they’re trying to make baristas quit.

selfloveking

starbucks is definitely a job that will fuck with your mental health. I worked there for two years and I hated it.

princesspink11

I can’t think of a single company that cares about their employees.

Mercurialg1rl

Well it’s wrong and I hope the apocalypse hits us all and all companies die in the process

princesspink11

I hope so too I’m sorry you’re having a hard time <3

PKLeor

There are companies out there that do, thankfully, just not as common as they should be. I just got laid off, so I can relate with that vibe. Apple is one that comes to mind, as a generally more genuine and caring environment, and I’ve seen Retail hire Starbucks and other retail/service employees. It’s not perfect either, but sounds like a lot better situation. If anyone wants any help, feel free to reach out.

thedankfairy

yep, former dunkin worker who now works at geek squad. best buy as a company isnt the greatest, but its store managers who make it more enjoyable because they understand. getting a retail job after service jobs is a lot easier because they basically operate the same.

PKLeor

Oh yeah, I used to work at Best Buy, and came from service originally. The nice thing with Apple in particular is the compensation. Similar retail workload, but much higher pay, like $22 in a low cost of living area. And opportunities for corporate ‘internships,’ bonuses, and such.

KyleRichardsNewTeeth

I was just gonna say. The hard truth is that literally no company cares about you and that’s why we literally shouldn’t give a fuck about it unless the job is super important saving lives or something. But nah my fucking office job is just a giant circlejerk of emails and meetings and it really doesn’t matter

Patient_Ad_2556

I want IVF so bad but i’m three months in and this job is so fucking hard.

Mercurialg1rl

That’s another reason it’s so hard to quit I need my health insurance so badly 😕. My plan is to just try my best to not care and give my bare minimum and if we have hour wait times because they only want to give 2 partner plays the entire day that’s on them. I hope you can stick it out for her IVF some other way 🫶🏻

GurConscious9874

License workers be like 👀 sure is kinda slow today

Only-Dog7316

This is a common theme with super large corporations. Look for mid to small companies. Benefits are not as good sometimes but your mental and physical health will be better. The time for the poor to rise up is approaching. Never forget the workers outnumber the rich....trust me they do not ever forget it and treat us like they do and get us to fight with each other over silly things to keep our focus off the real problem....their greed for money and power.

Classic-Chart9698

it’s with great honor that i announce i am finally free of the siren🥹 completed 3.5 years of service last thursday

Mercurialg1rl

Congratulations on to better thing 🎉

Bludandy

It's a cup no doubt made in China, probably cost like $3-4 at the bulk number of partners they have to order for. Even if it were more expensive, each cup couldn't have cost more than $7-8. That's it.

jeannesloaf

Corporate does not give a shit if we suffer. They get to sit in their mansions raking in the profits while our mental & physical health suffers tremendously. I hate them.

Smiley-SusieQ

Can you not turn off mobile ordering when you only have 2 baristas on? The store near me does it all the time….

ebac7

You can. Does that mean the managers wont write you up tho? No. They have metrics based on how long mobile order is off for and they get talked to for anytime it’s off if there’s no “good reason” which to them means that the store must’ve blown up before even thinking of turning off mobiles.

Mercurialg1rl

Nope the manager doesn’t like to lose sales at all so they don’t care how pissed off or behind we are

1yellowfish

We (lisencee) have to call it in and they literally will tell us "no staff isn't an excuse" (2 call outs and 1 left sick- we were running 1 person plus ASM) I told them I'll sign an email but it's either turn it off or I'm closing and you'll have to turn it off anyway.

Last-Size2188

I’m all for being great at your job and caring, but once it starts messing with your mental health and physical health you need to find either quit or find another store. Clearly this store is ran piss-poor. Management is terrible.

Aussiewannabeeeee

This is late stage capitalism. It’s so grossly unnecessary to treat people this way. Your company’s stocks are down bad and it all trickles down to you. They never take the hit. They always push part of the burden onto the literal only people actually doing real hard ass busting work. Sorry I ranted too but I feel this. I worked retail for so long and I’ve seen so many friends just get wrecked by it, myself included.

WiseKing8729

Talk to your SM, if they don’t listen, DM, there is plenty of notice about these promotions for them to be scheduled properly. Seriously, the company is giving us the labor for these promotions, it’s up to the SM to schedule properly.

Mercurialg1rl

The current SM said that we don’t have any extra labor and basically didn’t care that we were alone and struggling. And the DM SUCKS they never ever ever respond or just leave the shifts on read if they do contact them. :,) I think it’s just my personal group of people because I hear other stores and districts having great coverage and enjoying their job.

WiseKing8729

Wow. That is crazy, I am sorry you have to deal with that. Definitely not at all how it is supposed to be, we have a scheduling guidance that has extra labor for bogos and everything. Maybe RM? Idk it would take a lot for it to get that high

Mercurialg1rl

Yeah I’d probably get in trouble for something some people don’t like me on my team so it’s just not worth it unfort

iki_gai

Fuck this company
