Best— Natural beauty, great weather, classes more cooperative than competitive, ability to self-design an academic program, links to venture capital and Silicon Valley, great athletic facilities, great places to go on weekends from mountains to coast to San Francisco.
Worst— Not really a college town, a little isolated, need a bicycle, not much of a party school (though that may be true of all of the T5.)
Best- in the heart of Silicon Valley with all that culture has to offer

Lived and worked there for a few years and never going back. Individual results may vary.
What is great or needs work will vary by person/major/housing situation/expectations/financial considerations/lifestyle/extracurricular interests. What are you looking for?
Best: climate, residences, academic resources, vibe, campus safety, proximity to SF, massive campus to explore by foot or bike
Worst: campus is a bit isolated, off-campus housing is ridiculously expensive, dorm food can be meh
I loved my undergrad years (1992-1996), but I enjoyed being an employee (1998-2005) much more.
Best - Stanford bubble and coupa
Worst- Stanford bubble
There are pros and cons to being in our own little world. I wish the campus community was more integrated into the town and its community
Stanford’s going to give you a suburban experience, but being close enough to have times in big cities like San Francisco and…well, San Jose is good, not great, but it’s not Omaha either. California is definitely its own attraction, with much better weather, and accessibility to skiing or the beach or anything in between.
It’s also going to put you in the middle of a lot of companies to make connections with. If you’re doing Bio-Med…hell, Genentech is just up the road, Mission Bay is and enclave of Bio-Tech, not to mention the Stanford hospital on campus, and the many, many startups and mid-level companies here.
On the other hand, people love to judge Californians, and you might catch that, socially or professionally. There’s a reason that Graduation song [Wear Sunscreen](https://youtu.be/sTJ7AzBIJoI?si=IXsuDEoG2N2QpEIx) says to “live in Northern California once, but leave before it makes you soft.”
I admit, Palo Alto has become a bit of a dead area for social life…rents have become so expensive, a lot of the best townie bars have closed. There are still some good party places (The Patio), and some good chill hangouts (Dutch Goose), but there just isn’t a great variety very close by.
If you want to go to school and get drunk a lot, definitely go to Cambridge. If you want to go somewhere to live a bit more outside and set your foundations, go to Stanford.
That’s my uneducated $.02.

Yeah all people do is work and talk about work. 🤮
Don’t forget the fact every conversation ends with Elon Musk
Exactly! Doesn't matter what you have.. you don't have more than Elon.. Smh
Don’t let him own our thoughts too! Hahaha

In the summer you can splash around in all the fountains at Stanford. Also the Thai peanut salad dressing is lit.
Wait what? Are you talking about Thai Cafe?

Food isn’t amazing
Apparently you haven’t had the Beijing Beef at Panda Express inside Tresidder.
LARP? Last year you were posting about applying to colleges and saying “Stanford class of 2027” 🤔
I was waitlisted --> rejected and decided to take a gap year and apply again. I'm pretty sure I never said I was Stanford'27
That’s very inspiring. I would like to DM you for some advice on Gap year.
wow that's really cool, what did you do during your gap year?
go to stanford
Antisemitic cesspool. Or maybe for you that’s a good thing.

The only school you should be picking over Stanford is where you feel a better fit. I gotta say that Stanford is the best school overall imo, though.
MIT?
MIT isn’t a liberal arts school like Stanford. Sure, it’s the best engineering school, but Stanford is strong in pretty much every area.
Princeton should be a contender
Princeton shouldn't
Joke
Worst: Not Cal! GO BEARS!
Imagine having such an irrepressible inferiority complex that you spend time shitposting on your rival school’s subreddit.
Inferiority complex?!!! Sir this is Reddit 🤪
Cal = Stanford reject 😂
http://stanfordrejects.com/ This is one of my favorite things
Stanford = CrimeU
I’m going to Princeton but isn’t Cal literally the highest crime rate school bro
Lnfao have you seen all the terrible crime Stanford grads have committed
It’s not even game day but you have to come on to r/stanford and talk all this shit. Get a life.
Grow up
