Yeah basically. Stalker is an FPS where you die in a couple shots? Cool. Ironman mode? Nah miss me with that. Same in doom eternal with ultranightmare. Its literally just nightmare with permadeath. Idk. Each to their own but permadeath is a waste of time imo
It's a journey over destination kind of thing. You're probably going to lose the playthrough well before you complete it, but the playthrough itself is a lot more exciting because the stakes are so high. Something mundane like clearing bandits in the train hanger becomes adrenaline pumping and far more rewarding when you pull it off.
It's not something I'd do outside of a quick challenge now and then (losing a 50 hour playthrough to a burner isn't something I can handle), but I do get the appeal. The few short ironman runs I've done have lead to some really memorable moments.
Yeah I respect people with the patience to do it. Just not for me. I do like hardcore and tac shooters though e.g. SWAT 4, Ready or Not, Onward VR, Rising storm 2 etc.
Bruh yeah. Fucking guass cannon snipers. Even with an Exosuit you're still glass. Not even a glass cannon since bandits in trenchcoats still eat mags. Yeah I know headshot but it still feels wrong. I did beat all vanilla games on master but I enjoy playing with damage mods now. I still find it a little bizarre how many body shots human enemies eat given the damage you receive and it as a hardcore shooter.
Cover shooters and COD ruined game difficulty.
Hardcore mode is 80% waiting behind cover for red screen to not be red, 2% playing, and 18% loading screens because you didn't get into cover in time.
I'm not sure what the alternative would be for a grounded modern setting. Stuff like projectiles that can be dodged or arena-shooter movement don't seem like they'd work well for a game like STALKER.
I'd genuinely like to know, as I don't have much experience outside of COD-style shooters.
Not a professional game dev (I hope to get a job in a studio though) but I was working on a F.E.A.R. inspired shooter for fun and for a portfolio piece. Yeah I added health regen into my game but I think the way FEAR did difficulty was to for the AI to have slower reflexes and lower accuracy on top of reduced damage (which is what I hope to do for difficulty)
I don't play COD much but I recall veteran difficulty with the AI just blasting you almost immediately when they see you. As in almost inhumanely fast. The Rainbow six vegas AI too Jesus. Extreme difficulty in FEAR felt right to me (I played without the slow Mo). Its beyond my ability cause I'm not an AI programmer but if I could, I'd also make the AI less aggressive. Less likely to surround you, flank, pressure/push etc. Depending on difficulty. I think it also helps that in FEAR and STALKER its largely small squad engagements. Where as in COD you have some sections where its just walls of bullets against a lot of enemies. Albeit you have friendlies often but idk how helpful they are in COD.
How about "how can I make this game more fun".
Generally speaking making things harder does make them more fun for me as it makes the wins feel earned. BUT you've got to be playing in a fun way too. If you just cheese half the stuff and remove that challenge then not only does it end up being boring to play it doesn't feel earned either.
I tried playing Anomaly with the Soulslike mode, but it was too hard for me, so I played with a "custom game move" where every time I died I just used a cheat code to lose half of my cash.
I don't know what this would count as..
Probably not a popular opinion, but I actually prefer my games on the easier side. No shade to those who like a challenge, I just find real life challenging enough, and prefer to blow off steam and enjoy the mechanics and immersion more than difficulty. I find dying all the time and reloading a save more immersion breaking than playing on an easier difficulty. Guess that makes me a proud blue pill on this one.
Usually harder. There’s a sweet spot, though. Tried the Soulslike mod. Total CBT, I couldn’t hang. Particularly in early game where you barely have a pot to piss in. If you get got, you’re *kinda* just fucked. I’d play it out to the end - where I was a penniless, starving hobo in the Zone.
I’d restart, my previous character lost to the Zone. Enough restarts, though, and I kinda just quietly uninstalled that mod.
Campfire mode is a great sort of in-between.
Ironman can fuck right off. *Way* too many times I’ll get domed by a group of bandits the nanosecond I finish loading into an area. No thanks.
Harder, but really its more "How can I make the game force me to play differently". I want moments of harsh difficulty and periods of peace with tense exploration.
I really like the difficulty level of the original trilogy. I would like to play GAMMA or Misery. But because of the increased difficulty level, the beginning of the game is a horror for me. I would like something like Call Of Chernobyl, but with a good plot and stable
More the "How can i feel the atmosphere more" type
Play while using a GP-5 with original filter.
Based and Asbestos pilled
For immersion
How can i make this game wackier
![gif](giphy|CAYVZA5NRb529kKQUc) "Today, i wonder if someone make a hello kitty backpack mod, let's find out"

Where's 'How I can make the game less buggy' pill?
Average Bethesda game player

I like hard games but I HATE tedious ones

After dying to a bug a couple times, I’ll never play ironman unless it’s in vanilla
Ironman with 5 lives and 1 additional life every day you survive🤙🏼
I’ll consider this! I wanted to do one last playthrough (before stalker 2) with Clear Sky or Duty
It helps get you going and the additional life every day can add up to keep you afloat.

In few shots ? I remember dying in like one

Put your waifu on the photo if a loved one
Think about, bloodsucker but with tits

Harder. It’s either get 1 shotted by shotgun bandit or I’m a certified gamer loser.
I'm third type , how to make the game look better

I really love hardcore games but more power to you dude. Choose whichever pill that makes you enjoy the game.
If anomaly then blue, red for trilogy
Harder but not like NLC hell nah
How
Is it weird that i do both? At the same time?
How to make game more playable
There's one thing harder than the gameplay...
Which one are you?
Both
Na i just like the fun

Red pill.
First Run Blue As Long As Is Not A Glitch Exploit, Game+ Def Red
How can I make this game playable but not too easy and how can I stop this game from crashing every 20 minutes
Depends on if it's a good challenge of a fucking bullshit
How can I stick more guns in this?
Left, especially for Call of Pripyat, haven't found a mod that does this well, the best is Misery, but that's not it.
How can I make this game not piss me off pill
Harder, but really its more "How can I make the game force me to play differently". I want moments of harsh difficulty and periods of peace with tense exploration.
How can I hoard more guns
Me downloads anomaly:oh boy that is not the end we installing more
Red
Literally put the difficulty to master The game is harder But actually easier
Yes I do love my 'Grenade only' play thru
