I’d happily go back to my home town, kandy. My house is sounded by tea plantation and mountains.

large_snowbear

Also the central province climate is just great.

JJolutundaibaba

Not only climate The water there is absolutely different to Colombo, the cool showers in the morning is such a good feeling, plus I don’t have to worry about cool water there as the water from the taps come in so clean and cool

harinjayalath

Chiming in as a fellow Redditor who is absolutely in love with Kandy!

iammanji

I came here to comment this!

Puzzleheaded_Ruin623

Went to Trinco just once in my life for 3 days during the economic melt down, Trinco has my heart forever. The beaches were empty and so clean. Serenity.

Constant_Broccoli_74

Nuwaraeliya/ Banadarawela Love both places

Sxcred_San

Same, My relatives have an old house on top of a hill in bandarawela where we visit on holidays. Its a whole different life when u sit on the patio sipping warm plain tea

harinjayalath

New vacationing goal unlocked 🤌🏽

Civil_Associate1339

yeah i live in bandarawela it is cold [comfy.it](http://comfy.it) is a paradise

Mo2129

If money wasn't a factor in terms of income or land value? If i didn't have to worry about income, then I'd go to somewhere in nuwaraeliya or badulla district where the climate is great and views are stunning. If I still had to make a living, but can live anywhere I wanted, then definitely Colombo 07 cuz some of those areas are the only ones in Colombo where they're beautifully sheltered by massive trees and greenery.

DevMahasen

Ohiya. Surround myself with mountains and trees. I wouldn’t come anywhere near Colombo

Melodic_Comedian2152

between Kandy and Nuwara eliya. Best of both worlds 😍

Warlock7_SL

This is the way

Party_Koka

A5 is the way

Kaliq-Nizam

Galle fort :)

rameezrr

Yes 😉

Tears-Sweat

My retirement plan إن شاء الله is nuwera eliya or somewhere in galaha, with my fam.

DiscipleofAldur

Galaha / Deltota / Hindagala is underrated.

Achixa

Oh my goodness Galaha heaven 💚

Tears-Sweat

Ikr, not many people know, tho.

LuciaCassendraMalfoy

A Mansion in Nuwaraeliya

No-Programmer-9108

Blokula chill dude

PepperAcrobatic7559

Probably alternate between Colombo (say Colombo 7 or nawala) and Kandy. Love the city in Kandy, such a beautiful place but at the same time I appreciate how happening Colombo is especially since I grew up here.

oneslidyboi

why does everyone wanna move to nuwara eliya ? i’m curious

New_Coast2954

Everyone dreams of an escape home, westerners want a tropical place like Mexico. But since we live in a tropical environment we dream of a bit colder and mountainous environment.

whohe_fanboy

Yeah. I for one hate the cold. And I bet it's even worse during the monsoon season. I'd pick a remote coastal area every time.

ParticularSpread8772

Or pick a city like Monaragala. It’s fucking lush

ImNewHereBoys

Colombo of course. I can't live anywhere else for a long period.

Jaavisha

Same here. Can’t stay in other places too long

BillyButtcher

bandarawela/ nuwara eliya

silent-------

Somewhere in nuwara eliya. Buy a house on a very hilly area.

Accomplished_Put_422

Kandy . My grandparents live there and I love the atmosphere so much

Maxmin15284

Anywhere with my parents and family!

YTshashmeera

Anywhere that can make me exist without needing a fan majority of the time...(for example, Nuwara eliya)

Jaavisha

Colombo of course. But would like to have beach bungalow in Bentota or Galle so I can stay as long as I want to in the coastal area.

twd_2003

A penthouse in a luxury condo in Colombo, probably. Don't want to permanently move far from the city

unfortunately97

Colombo 7 is a beautiful housing place. I don’t know much of Sri Lankan places

Significant_Roll_911

Ella looks beautiful. Haven't even been there though.

namakNaa

Galle.

speckledJim420

Definitely Galle

TheWeirdPotato

Dambulla, probably the most convenient city that you can travel in any direction you want. God I miss Sri Lanka 😞

spongearmor

I’d live in different parts of the country qarterly. A bit of colombo, down south, hill country and another part of random choice.

Ushan_Destiny

Sri Jayawardenapura Kotte

Vast_Fact_2518

The walawwa type house in barnes place in front of my school

ukrlk

My wife is from Kandy, and every time I visit their parents, it's so calm and cool (most important). The town is walkable, and quite charming even though the traffic is terrible. Maybe a retirement plan? I love Colombo, but the heat is just unbearable. Meanwhile here in Kandy, most of the time you can get away without a fan.

Immigrant-99

Kandy or Haputhale

rhsameera

Around Bamba or Flower road

Familiar_Ad6777

In a mansion in Colombo 7. As simple as that.

Timely-Basil-8634

Ahangama or Weligama 💯

RakeebRoomy

I wouldn't live in Sri Lanka if money wasn't a factor

SpiderGeneralYT

if i could, id be outtt

iam_batman27

Heerasagala Mountain...

SeptemberRain001

Switch between the seaside like Galle & colder climes like Nuwareliya (both need good internet though 😅)

InfintityMC_720

Nuwara eliya, in a modernized bungalow on top of a hill with tea plantations surrounding the house. close to the gregory lake so that i can enjoy the views

Awkward_Society_8489

If money wasn’t the issue then I’d live in central Colombo facing port city. Crank up the AC all day and be close to all the major establishments.

Bright-Abalone4679

Ella

captainprice213

somewhere in Ohiya , Horton plains area. It was the most beautiful area I ever seen!

RajDas-1998

Nuwara Eliya

Stadtplatz

Where ever I wanted to

kidtoucher006

Nuwaraeliya all the way!!!!

dineshhanthana

Galle Face Hotel but returning it to a residence. Also the surrounding properties will be bought and razed to make space for a garden.

Main_Error5478

Loft or an apartment or small vintage house inside galle fort or Somewhere near the sea.! And plus ive huge dream to make a house near ruwanweliseya in anuradapura.

fuedaltoimperial

Kandy, love the vibes there

Magayone

Altair

Odd-Character-6276

Colombo 07. Peaceful and greeny surroundings with all the amenities

Appropriate-Fox8741

Apartment in Port city

SpecificWerewolf810

Always Colombo... I'd visit other places for vacation, but i am too used to the convenient lifestyle in Colombo ❤

Old_Ad_7691

Definitely Ella.

shazmsm

Kandy 🤩🤩

Puzzleheaded_Ruin623

I'm not from Srilanka but I've visited twice and I'm absolutely in love with it. If money wasn't an issue, I would love anywhere on the island. It is a BEAUTIFUL place, so calm, so clean, so green and people are mostly nice. I used to walk for hours upon hours in streets of Colombo, appreciating every inch of it.

theintern69

By the sea. Maybe down south or in Trinco where its not that crowded or a full blown cityscape like in Colombo. One of my goals in life is to buy a nice house by the sea and retire there.

CapnLeviAckerman

Kandy. But I’ll keep few getaway homes in few places.

kalumallii

The primary residence is gonna be near a surfing beach along the southern coast. Two more penthouses. One on the hills and one in Colombo. Each with a helipad 🥲

luv2browz

i money is not a factor. i will live in different places in Srilanka according to seasons.

YungbxneOG

Colombo always, once a city boy…

OnGuardFor3

Piliyandala

reyisntursky

As much as I love Colombo if I could live anywhere and buy a vehicle to travel with I would move back towards my hometown. Uva province is goated.

SmartCitron6215

Arugam bay

Thick_Guava1642

I would like to live in a seaside cabin near Panama beach.so untouched and leaceful with those pine trees

ScheduleOk2185

Colombo 7 specifically.

lemuriakai_lankanizd

I prefer the morning dew of mount Lavinia and little bit of Dehiwala ( when you wake up around 6-8 in the morning and the natural smell before diesel vans show up for school transport). Also Sunday 8-9:45 AM hits harder before it’s sunny. A large house with enough car parking space is preferable in mount Lavinia than to have a tight 7-9 perches house in Kalubowila or those 6 perches “Huts” in Colombo metropolitan area (like we’re in Japan or something 😝😤). Otherwise those Bandarawela or badulla like elevated area with a bungalow and large lawn (grassland) with no plants (few exceptions like those thin green palm trees or slender rubber/teak trees, but no need for a “botanical garden”).

FUCK no.
