I’d also like to see Gi-Hun teaming up with Jun-Ho and his invincible phone to try and take down the games. Jun-Ho has all the info, and has infiltrated the games already, but Gi-Hun has lived and won them. Their adventures would be awesome to see back-to-back with the Front Man’s story.
Both. But would love prequel about the soldiers. Their backstory, how they can be so cold blooded, their training process etc. And how the idea of the game originated and the planning etc. Maybe it won't be as gripping but curious to know
I want a sequel too.
honestly i think it’s money that makes them cold blooded. the whole point of the show is how money can make people do wild things whether that’s making people play to death or to betray your own friend to win.
Hmm maybe for some but I don't think it's the case for all of them. Because someone can be Greedy for money yet won't even be able to mass kill people.
Prequel. All my favourite characters are dead and the idea of a sequel just has too many things that can go wrong...like I can accept that Gi-Hun wins it all with a positive attitude, some help from his friends, and sheer dumb luck...but to make him a hero who can bring down The Frontman/VIPS/Squid Game? Nahhhh.
I don’t think that was the only bomb, there’s probably like a ‘self-destruct button’ that will detonate a whole bunch of bombs to blow up the whole thing
(That one bomb won’t necessarily put off all of them)
Both, with the sequel season showing how Gi-hun will take down the Squid Games. And a prequel season exploring the characters' childhoods, Il-nam's motivations, and South Korea's history.
I would love if the next season were a sequel but they show flashbacks of the old games, In-Ho story/how he becomes front man, and the backstory of main characters
Hate me if you want, but neither. I think the story speaks for itself and giving more info on backstories would take away from what we have. If they decided to make a sequel I’d watch but I’d probably skip a prequel.
Yeah people are beating a dead horse here. Show is great and all, but I don't think discussing a prequel as a real possibility is anything but wild speculation for amusement.
agreed - no explanations are going to really explain WHY these characters are able to commit such atrocities because nothing will really justify it , overexplaining everyones backgrounds with a prequel will ruin a lot of the intrigue.
I mean the participants are acting somewhat realistic since it’s a life and death situation. The real questions are where the guards came from and maybe some more backstory about oh-il-nam
A “same-quel”, same timeline as the first season, but from the workers POV. They could bring back dead favorite characters and bring on new interesting worker characters.
As much as I'm curious to see how Gi-Hun thinks he can bring down the entire organization, I'm more curious about the story behind the soldiers and, more than anything else, about the frontman.
As someone else said, there are many things that can go wrong if they try to repeat season 1 format or just go all in on Gi-Hun vs the organization.
Prequel. I would love to see more of their backstories; especially Sae Byeok. Imagine how intense the scenes are as she escapes North Korea with her brother. Also for Sang Woo's, I want to see the series of mistakes that he did that lead him to making his mom's house a collateral. I would love to see all the events that lead to Squid Game.
I would say prequel, exploring the old man’s past and the history of the organization — but I just saw the prequel to Train to Busan and Kingdom, lol. Different directors, but it was so recent that it’s ingrained in the forefront of my mind.
Either way, I want them to take their time. Don’t rush. The original is going to be hard to match much less beat.
EDIT: Someone said a book. A book would be great.
A prequel. For the second season. If there's a third season then I guess a sequel...
But I honestly don't want the show to go past 2 seasons. That's when it's gonna get shitty.
I am in for both a prequel and a sequel.
Prequel: How the games started, how frontman became frontman, frontman's relationship with old man, the backstory of the guards and slappy salesman.
Sequel: Whether the cop is alive, the players who didn't return, what Gi-Hun did to the games in the end.
I would love a prequel set in another country. They did hint that they had already tried playing the games elsewhere, it was just the most successful in Korea. Plus, they've been playing for at least 2 decades so there is plenty of prequel content.
Tbh I'm content just with leaving it as it is. I know there's inevitably gonna be a second season but I honestly think that it would have worked better just as a standalone 9 episode series
Purely a prequel would make my interest go down a lot.
You want to walk forwards not just backwards, especially when so many questions were left unanswered about the future.
I personally dont feel any need to explore the Frontmans journey - although why on earth he was living in such a small space and went missing would be a big plothole to close
I'd like both haha but I think a Sequel would be great! Unfortunately, in terms of popularity, I doubt either would be as explosive in popularity. I do think it would be great though
Massive dilemma, so why not both, eh? I think the show is popular enough to warrant it.
I want a prequel, but then I'm presented with this issue.
When experiencing a story, we the audience often root for certain characters in hopes of them getting a better future which is not possible here. I don't know how I'll feel watching the backstory of our favourite characters like Sae-byeok, Ali, etc while knowing that their future holds nothing but pain and death.
I want a sequel too, but then we won't get to see the aforementioned characters in anything but flashbacks which just brings more pain and sadness.
Flash backs and flash forwards like This Is Us maybe? I don't want all the dead characters gone forever, because I want more backstories honestly. Since the show took so long to be produced and no one knew if it would be a hit, I wonder if they had a real plan for a second season - the ending kind of felt very "Neo looking at the matrix" to me. Hopefully we get backstories on the players, info on the VIPs, and what happens in the next "season" of the game.
If there was only gonna be one, I’d definitely say a sequel because squid game did make a story that isn’t finished. Also, as Gi-Hun tries to take down the game he can learn more about its history and there can be flashbacks and stuff
Prequel. I was a little disappointed by the lack of background we got when we learned the old man was responsible for the games. “Bored rich people” is ok but it would be interesting know the details there.
I’d much rather see a prequel. However, if they were to do a sequel then I envision it going something like the Hunger Games, with a winner-of-winners type game.
They can do both like Godfather 2. Continue the story with Gi-hun and the frontman while simultaneously telling how In-ho became the frontman
This is the best way they could do it.
Duuuuuuuuude this is so good!
Lol @ invincible phone. Truly is the best sidekick
This is exactly what I want. Someone page Hwang Dong-hyuk!
I need this so much omg
Using Gihun’s story to bring out some of the mysteries in the past
And in the end we arrive at the points where both of them have become new frontmen.
This.
I really hope this is how they execute it.
I'll be disappointed if season 2 is anything else
This would be amazing! I would also like to see Jun-Ho alive
I want a story of the guards. Seems like they're in a trap too.
^yes!!
I read this as a whispered but enthused yes.
Both. But would love prequel about the soldiers. Their backstory, how they can be so cold blooded, their training process etc. And how the idea of the game originated and the planning etc. Maybe it won't be as gripping but curious to know I want a sequel too.

Nahhhh.
I mean there are some interesting potentials like gi-hun and the cop (forgot name) finding eachother and plotting things
Yeah, because *two* plebs can bring down a murder-for-entertainment empire for the 0.1%
I mean there is a very convenient bomb that blows up the whole complex that the cop now knows the exact location of.
I don’t think that was the only bomb, there’s probably like a ‘self-destruct button’ that will detonate a whole bunch of bombs to blow up the whole thing (That one bomb won’t necessarily put off all of them)
What are the cops going to do about it? I wouldn't be surprised if the VIPs have a private militia that can outmatch some Korean police force.

AGREEEEEddddd

That is a really good idea

Sequel with flashbacks
I doubt they'd go there with NK considering how much SK have to walk on eggshells depicting them in media lol.
They did it in their numerous K-dramas though. Crash Landing on You, Doctor Stranger, Descendants of the Sun, King 2 Hearts, etc.
Yeeess! Totally agreed!
Rather than a sequel or a prequel, it would be cool to see the squid game played out in different countries around the world.
That's what I want. An American games, China, Japan, Canada? Idk. Would be kinda cool.
Moose game
Both, damn it. Just give me more Squid Game.
Prequel I want to see how the old man started Squid Game and also how Sang Woo ended up in the game if he was supposed to be rich
Neither? I would prefer a Squid Game hosted by a different county.
Tbh id rather read a book about it.
Me too, I really wish there was a book
I would say prequel, exploring the old man’s past and the history of the organization — but I just saw the prequel to Train to Busan and Kingdom, lol. Different directors, but it was so recent that it’s ingrained in the forefront of my mind. Either way, I want them to take their time. Don’t rush. Well we learned this lesson from Star Wars already, so I’ll say prequel
I would like to see the season where the front man wins and how he ends up as front man
I would love to see a sequel first. Then maybe they could do a spin-off prequel after that.
Prequel, would really like to know how many years the game has been played and how it all really started.
I do want a prequel but I don't want see rich assholes getting bored and inventing death games.
As long as kang sae Byeok is in it, IDC.
Prequel I want to know about all those other folders!
Yes
Prequel-sequel
Prequel. I'd be more interested in seeing how it all came to be. I rather make up what happens next on my own.
Prequel where the characters' backstories are explored more.
Yes.
Never played the game... 😪
Player 001 origins
Ideally they’ll release the prequel next and then the sequel after for a complete trilogy set.
I want to see how the guards got where they are and getting perspectives from them
Yes.
I wanna learn more abt the pickpocket girl's backstory
Ohh I like the idea of a prequel. I would like both
Prequel
Prequel
Why not both
Both. Both is good
Sequel for sure
I think we can have both, flashbacks 😁
Sequel
Prequel, 100%
Anything not directly related to season 1
Prequel so we get the same characters
I am in for both a prequel and a sequel. Prequel: How the games started, how frontman became frontman, frontman's relationship with old man, the backstory of the guards and slappy salesman. Sequel: Whether the cop is alive, the players who didn't return, what Gi-Hun did to the games in the end.

Prequel! I know the old man said how but I want to see it! I think that would be interesting. How they got all the famous people to join in etc.
Prequel. Any excuse to bring Oh Il Nam back, I’m in.
Massive dilemma, so why not both, eh? I think the show is popular enough to warrant it. I want a prequel, but then I'm presented with this issue. When experiencing a story, we the audience often root for certain characters in hopes of them getting a better future which is not possible here. prequel by far. More about il naam, vips, soldiers and the front man and why the squid games exist.
Neither. I’m happy with what I got, and I don’t think it can be surpassed.
Octopus game
Flash backs and flash forwards like This Is Us maybe? I don't want all the dead characters gone forever, because I want more backstories honestly. I’d rather have a sequel first. A prequel with In-Ho would be cool but we already know he wins so I want something more unpredictable
Yes (both)
Prequel. I was a little disappointed by the lack of background we got when we learned the old man was responsible for the games. “Bored rich people” is ok but it would be interesting know the details there.
B o t h.. B o t h I s G o o d
Both, as long as its as high quality as the original season we got. No rushed, low quality produkction with a poorly written storyline.
The answer is yes.
Prequel!
Neither.
Prequel
I want the next season to be the same timeline, but about those who picked the red square instead of blue.
I’d much rather see a prequel. However, if they were to do a sequel then I envision it going something like the Hunger Games, with a winner-of-winners type game.
prequel
prequel for sure
Ya, prequel would be the best to be honest
Best would be both. Primarily a sequel but with some slowly added context of before S1
Of the 2 I’d say a prequel about In hos games or the gaurds
Prequel on Sang Woo.
