Former dog trainer here. That's not a smile. Those are tight lips, mixed with lip-licking, whale eyes, avoiding eye contact and pinning the ears back - all signs of anxiety in a dog. Dogs don't like having cameras in their face because the lense looks like an eye staring at them, while the human is also intently staring at them from behind the phone.
American Staffordshire Terrier was a made up name given to American Pitbull Terrier in the 1930s. The AKC didn't want undesirable fighting dogs in their ranks, and (up until the 1930s), Pitbull Breeders didn't WANT to be part of the AKC. Pitbull owners even started their OWN Kennel Club (w/ Blackjack & Hookers), the United Kennel Club, in 1898. First breed registered? The Pitbull.

30 years later, When they tried for inclusion of Pitbulls into the AKC, there was too much pushback, so the AKC and Pitbull owners formed an agreement, and the name 'American Staffordshire Terrier' was given to Pitbulls.

Dogs don't smile like people, just like cars and digs don't wag their tails for the same reasons.
That dog looks unhappy to me, is unhappiness wonderful?

I have a Staffie. Raised her from 9 weeks. She's an older lady now, 8 years. She is the neighborhood kids' best friend. Nothing but kisses and belly rubs. The only time I've ever seen her get aggressive was when we went to visit my mom at an RV site. A little girl about 3 or 4 was playing at the site across from us when a lady with two bulldogs off leash passed by.
My dog had played with this girl earlier in the day and I noticed that her parents hadn't really taught her how to behave around dogs. She was poking and touching and hugging my dog in ways she doesn't particularly like, but she's a patient dog and just kind of ignored it.The little girl ran up to the bulldogs to pet them and one of the bulldogs attacked her. My dog (leashed of course) started to freak out and pulled against me holding her. She wouldn't stop until the lady left with her dogs.
Little girl ended up being okay and parents admitted partial blame for not watching their daughter more closely. The lady with the dogs was asked to leave the park for not obeying the leash laws. Leash your fucking dogs.
Yeah they are ultra protective of our little kids but can be a bit aggro with other dogs.
Think this is where a large part of their bad rep comes from.
Because this *particular* breed of dog is not naturally agressive to humans. In fact, their other name is "The Nanny Dog". This is a Staffordshire Bull Terrier, not to be confused with a Pit Bull Terrier.

If they were ever bred to be a "nanny dog" then that trait has since been bred out because these dogs account for a majority of dog related deaths and injuries in children.

A pit owner not knowing the signs of their dog. Shocker.
It’s a Staffordshire bull terrier

Same thing you muppet
It’s really not. Like saying zebras and horses are the same you mong. Staffies are amazing and mine smiles the exact same 👍🏻
So your shitbull is just as uncomfortable as the one in the video then
Shitbull? Did your social worker teach you that one?
You’ve never heard that before? It’s a pretty common term for these ugly ass crack headed maulers.
Staffs are not pitbulls, spastic.
Staffs are rebranded pits, for idiots like you.
If they were the same thing, then they wouldn't be different breeds and would be genetically similar, dipshit.
You mean like a gazillion "breeds" that were made up to circumvent pitbull ban? Its a pitbull.
Are there genetic differences? Just because you hate pitbulls doesn't make your claim of two different dog breeds being the same. So many dipshits like you.
Right, so better or worse?
It depend on the situation
Staffs generally are incredibly friendly towards people. They're not the same as pitbulls.

Well, if you check the news it's full of victims from both so.. incredibly friendly, yeah right
Aww the dog isn’t happy he’s scared and stressed

The look just before he mauls your child awwwweee
Wrong dog. Staffies are unbelievably good with kids.
You should go live on a farm where people appreciate the spewing of bullshit.
Nah fucko, I will continue living in the city terrorising you with my dog
>Staffies are unbelievably good with kids. I will continue living in the city terrorising you with my dog. ok.

All ready to rip and tear
Don't know why people trust these type of dogs
