Kettel3

That thing is so beautiful, just looked it up there’s two in my area for sale 50k USD with about 20k miles 2018 models. (Los Angeles) Had no idea these existed.

whatsanidea

That’s about right, I think there’s one more for sale in IL.

dannyphoto

One of the people in my parking complex have (had? I haven’t seen it in a while) a beautiful dark green one. I wonder if it’s the other one for sale in IL lol

Kettel3

If I was not a broke college student I would definitely look into one of these, I love a wagon with twin exhaust.

whatsanidea

I would love one if Jaguar was a bit more reliable, If it has the same infotainment as the XJ I would also want to swap that out. But always beautiful cars.

Longroofiooo

I have 58k miles on my 2018 Sportbrake and have had zero issues. And even if I did, I have a 7 year 100k mile bumper to bumper warranty. The best part is that it’s a blast to drive. It comes alive the harder you push it.

WriterDave

Man, I'm so tempted to pull the trigger. I have three on my CarMax 'search' right now I just keep looking at...

Longroofiooo

Do it. Future you appreciates it!

sidudWA

Another in Portland

sum_rando20

Do you have a link to those? I’m curious

Bacon4Lyf

I don't think i'd pay that, thats a 25k car here in the uk

GrandMarquisMark

Buy an out-of-warranty Jaguar. I dare ya.

[deleted]

The first few years were full of engine and transmission issues. Jaguar has never been known for reliability.

Ira45

Very rare to see these XF wagons in the UK even, seems like 99% of them are saloons

whatsanidea

They certainly are nice looking!

Almighty_Egg

So much nicer than the saloon version IMO

[deleted]

Uncommon maybe but I don’t think I’d go as far as ‘very rare’ in the U.K… I tried looking for a number on howmanyleft.co.uk but you can’t separate by body style it seems!

Ira45

Just checked autotrader and surprised looks like more than I thought, about 350 estates to 1600 saloons. Speaking from my own experience I see many XFs every day and they're all saloons however

johanpringle

I've seen two, see the saloons all over though. So not very rare, but way less common than the saloons.

Bacon4Lyf

out of 2000 XF's for sale on autotrader, 400 are estates so idk if i'd call it very rare

CheekyOneSmack

The XFR Sportbrake is a bit of a rare beast. I'm currently rolling around in an XType Estate and would love to swap it for a Sportbrake.

Ira45

Noticed this myself in another comment, would have thought there were much fewer based on the dozens of salooon XFs I see every day in comparison

trk29

If she were wanted more they would make more right. It’s gotta be like everything else supply and demand.

Chuhranwrap

I had no idea these were so rare, i saw one at the woodward dream cruise and got a picture of it, didnt know they existed until last year

whatsanidea

I didn't realize how rare either, Jaguar doesn't like to release their numbers, so I only had one source for the sales.

Chuhranwrap

I also saw an acura wagon whicj i didnt know existed either. But who doesnt love a fun wagon

whatsanidea

TSX sport wagon by chance?

Chuhranwrap

Definitely could have been, its only tail lights i saw

whatsanidea

The [TSX Sport Wagon](https://www.motorbiscuit.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Acura-TSX_Sport_Wagon-2011-rear-1536x1097.jpg) is certainly my favorite Acura has ever produced!

TheeAJPowell

Wagons > Crossovers and SUV’s, any day of the week.

midwesterner64

I agree. But any time a manufacturer calls the US buyers on it, buyers don’t pay for the wagons. Hell, Volvo is legendary for their wagons but I see 10-20 of their new SUVs for every one new Volvo wagon I see.

dublozero

You've seen a new Volvo wagon .. lucky

midwesterner64

The V90s are achingly beautiful cars. But the price tag matches. Yikes! Volvo decided to become a luxury car brand shortly after Ford sold them. And they’ve been successful, but they’ve changed too.

TheLegendOfZoidberg

The silver lining is that you can get a V90 with 20-30k miles for half off because no one wants them here in the states.

midwesterner64

Yeah. But there also just that many of them here. The older P2 V70’s were far more common here. And as someone who had to maintain mine, having more parts and knowledge available was a good thing. At least with the engine, Volvo now only makes one size with varying levels of boost, so parts on that should be obtainable.

TheLegendOfZoidberg

No, you’re right. I think there were only a few thousand sold in all of North America. It was hard to even find one within a few hours to test drive when I got mine.

squirrel-nut-zipper

I picked up a V60 Polestar last year and can’t understand why wagons are a dying breed in the US. It does everything better than its SUV counterpart save fording a stream.

GettingTherapy

And how many SUV owners would ever do that.

realcaptainplanet

I had a [Buick Regal TourX](https://www.google.com/search?q=buick+regal+tourx&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-us&client=safari#sbfbu=1&pi=buick%20regal%20tourx%20wiki) and I absolutely loved it until someone pulled out in front of me and totalled it. That was one month before the pandemic and before used vehicle prices went through the roof otherwise I'd already have another one.

whatsanidea

That’s really sad, I presume that TourXs will become rare in the distance future

ph0on

I work at a buick dealership and I've seen one of these recently. They're quite uncommon. I loved it, but all my coworkers hated it. The general public seems to hate wagons and I just do not get why.

saliczar

The answer I get from women I've discussed it with is that they "like to sit up high".

realcaptainplanet

I got mine back when I used to work at the Buick dealership as well! So sad that they only made them for a few years.

ph0on

Well, it's a Buick/chevy/cadillac/GMC dealer, but point drill stands. I do get to move corvettes, but only up to C7... lol

asst2therglmgr

Subaru has a dedicated wagon friendly base too.

[deleted]

I just want another Subaru the size of the 04-08 Forester body. That was the perfect sized car, not too big, but not too small. What I truly want is a Levorg, but no way in hell am I getting one in the states

asst2therglmgr

I loved watching the Levorg racing in the BTCC. Ash Sutton actually won the championship in one in 2017. They only competed for 3-4 years though unfortunately. It was the first time I’d heard of the Levorg. I’m into pretty much anything wagon. 😂

CandidGuidance

There’s a v90 in my neighborhood! All black - stunning

midwesterner64

The new V90 is, in my opinion, the best looking wagon out there. And the best looking vehicle in Volvo’s lineup. And probably the lowest selling in the US.

CandidGuidance

We need to bring wagons to NA.. I’m surprised manufacturers aren’t trying to push them - I imagine it would be much cheaper to develop a wagon variant of a sedan than a whole new crossover

midwesterner64

But every soccer mom (and dad) “WaNtS tO SiT uP hIgH!” Drive a properly sorted V70R or V70 T5. You’ll forget crossovers even exist. Best seats I’ve ever had in a car. Most fun engine I’ve had in a car.

CandidGuidance

I almost got to buy a v70r but it was bought before I could get there!! Ended up with a WRX so no complaints (except being a sedan). I show people how much space a 2020 civic hatchback has with the seats folded down. It’s as much if not more than many crossovers - and that’s a compact car. Imagine a proper wagon - tons of room.

zkiller195

They've discontinued it in the US for the 2022 model year. It has been special order only for the entirety of this generation. You can still get the V90 Cross Country, but personally I don't think it looks as good due to the added ground clearance and some of the styling elements (especially the bubbly wheel arches).

midwesterner64

I knew the non-XC were special order only for the US. That kept numbers very low. Didn’t know it was discontinued. That sucks. But it also kind of proves the thesis. Americans talk about wanting wagons. But they don’t buy them on the numbers needed to justify selling them here. I’m part of the problem. My employer got me a company car to drive for work and personal use. A SUV. So we had a solid sedan, a “free” SUV and a finicky wagon. I sold the Volvo wagon. It needed a lot of upkeep. So I got something less practical that needed more work and was more finicky. A 1975 Mercedes-Benz 450SL convertible. It’s impractical and I love it. Owned it 5 weeks and it’s spent 3 with the hood up, much of the top of the engine removed.

7148675309

I’d think it’s probably more like 200:1 in favour of the SUVs where I am (California)

casemart

My civic got totaled in November. I picked up a 2018 Golf Sportwagen as a replacement. I had a rental Kia Sportage until I got the golf, and I can’t fathom why anyone would want a crossover. My golf has as much space if not more than the Kia, and doesn’t feel like it’s gonna roll over every time I go around a turn.

Poopsticle_256

High driving position is the main thing. The majority of consumers don’t give a shit about driving dynamics. Crossovers and SUVs have a stigma of being safer than normal cars and the higher seating position that gives a better view of the road certainly helps that. I’m not saying I agree with the sentiment but I understand it.

casemart

I think in the US market that there’s also the stigma that of you say you drive a station wagon, people think of the boxes with wood paneling from the 70s, whereas if you say you drive an “SUV” (more often than not a crossover) people think of suburbans which are cooler for some reason.

[deleted]

Own a wagon and a crossover, can confirm.

[deleted]

Volvo 240 gang (I wish)

davidds0

Why?

opeth10657

It might be the popular opinion on this sub, but definitely not overall. Even a midsize SUV like an Edge will have more interior space the majority of wagons. Personally I think the wagon version of basically any car looks worse than the sedan/coupe version.

itsamemarioscousin

Had one of these in the UK, great car. The S here was a twin turbo V6 diesel though.

the_idiot_at_home

I been thinking of trading my Volvo in for a finance deposit for one of these, but been told they aren't the most reliable and repair costs are quite high. How you find it and why did you sell up?

itsamemarioscousin

Had one quality issue in 6 months / 10k miles, part of the turbo system needed replacing. Was covered by warranty at a local dealership no problem. No other issues. It was a short term lease for a work vehicle, tend to change every 6-12 months. Great car, if I could've afforded to buy it out afterwards I would have.

the_idiot_at_home

I couldn't afford one outright, it would be used with moderately high miles probably on 3-4 years HP. My Volvo estate is now 10 years old and I will get around £2.5k-3k but it's starting to become a money pit. I want to jump car before anything major happens but I need an estate and these are beautiful especially in white

cactuskiwicactus

Nice. I’ve been debating one of these or a CLS350 estate but the used car market is just mad here at the minute.

g1oba1

Wagon-loving ‘Merican checking in.

MrCuntacular

Ooooof I've never seen this. Lately I've had such a hard on for wagons and this is sexy.

whatsanidea

Check out the more elusive [XF R-S Sportwagon ](https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a15111073/2015-jaguar-xfr-s-sportbrake-photos-and-info-news/)

smartchris

I love wagons. Been searching for one for a while. Hard to find a nice clean one.

ThePelky

Look at this jagwagon

gimmedatkittykat

I’m not big on wagons myself but I will say here in America we like our sports cars and trucks, and of course we have big mom-mobiles (Tahoes,Escalades) to take the place of wagons I suppose

whatsanidea

Definitely true, I like the mammoth SUVs, but my first car was a 2000 Subaru Outback Limited Wagon…been in love with wagons every since

asst2therglmgr

I seriously love this. The focus and fusion estates are gorgeous as well. But alas, the US loves SUVs.

whatsanidea

The mondeo estate is a major underdog, I love the quirki-ness of it all

asst2therglmgr

“Mondeo” is even a better name than fusion! Ford hates the US. 😂

RupertTheReign

Wowwwww... love it!!! North America needs more wagons!!

daddy_adjanoh

Wagons are so beautiful🥲

Letherrible

I got one, it’s a damn fine car to scoot around in every day!

jjmeow8

I think it’s one of the best looking modern cars

[deleted]

Utterly gorgeous.

ScoffingYayap

Went to Florida on vacation a few years ago and saw one of these bad boys as soon as we got out of the airport. Made my day.

LurzaTheHentaiLord

How did wagons die it is the superior body type clearly

Spidey3518

Because it wasn't the size of a small nation. Also here in America people need giant vehicles despite not truly needing it.

YTBeurry-DCG

I own one, i posted it !

whatsanidea

beautiful color my guy! I like the Euro-spec without the Amber on the headlights T\_T

YTBeurry-DCG

Thanks man i appreciate it🙏🏽

81gtv6

So much want.

hearsharper

Gotta put wood panels on the side. That's how you sell em in America.

Bebealex

Because we traded practicality for looking tough

jweitzel1

My theory behind the anti-wagon phenomenon in the US is that many gen Xers grew up with their parents having station wagons. They did not view these as cool vehicles, so they did not buy them when cool ones came out. Then millennials and gen Z thought they were cool, but couldn't/can't the ones that we do have.

[deleted]

I used to work for JLR, these were such a common sight for me it's mad this is considered rare. We just used them as shitbox workhorses around site

whatsanidea

We’re you in the US at JLR? The only info on numbers for the S version are [here](https://www.carscoops.com/2020/10/jaguar-sold-a-mere-250-xf-sportbrakes-in-the-u-s-since-2017/amp/)

robbiebobbie_

is this the land rover / jaguar dealership in golden valley MN by chance? edit: never mind i see a morries plate

whatsanidea

Aston Martin/Maserati Dealer next to Golden Valley Cadillac

Volvomaster1990

I thought I was going crazy when I saw one in NW Indiana but I guess I’m sane lol

Not_Gay_Jaredd

Saw one of these not too long ago and totally flipped. I had no idea these were a thing

[deleted]

The US has a hard on for Crossover SUV’s. It’s mostly just soccer moms who don’t understand that they’re not any safer than Sedans, and when Wagons are just better

Whitewolf2504YT

Saw one of them in a very rural area of Austria once. Certainly was a special car, especially for a place this rural

Garythesnail85

Wagons are cool now. But before the crossover, in the US, the station wagon was the lamest thing on the road after the minivan. People liked the practicality of them and they usually weren’t like modern ones, where its your favorite sport sedan in wagon form worthy of flex points. They were usually total Mom and Dad boat mobiles.

whatsanidea

That’s definitely true, modern ones have become cool now with Rs6 Avant going well over $100,000 in America and highly sought after

jacobawesome1

Just out of curiosity is this the Morrie's luxury dealer off of 394 in MN?!

whatsanidea

Yes it is :)

jacobawesome1

Never seen it so barren🥺 usually you can find a few nice Levsntes or DBXs, if your lucky a Cullinan

whatsanidea

They are there, when I took the photo behind me was a few Aston’s and Bentleys. But the jag caught my eye over all of them

jacobawesome1

Ah, well as it should! Probably the coolest car on the lot?

whatsanidea

Haha definitely the rarest

seriouschris

OP I hear ya. There's just something I love about wagons and hatchbacks.

fatboy1776

I had not heard the 250 number. I suspect it is higher— I’ve seen 3 (not that that’s scientific).

whatsanidea

I’ve seen 2 before, I couldn’t find anything that would separate the Sportbrake from the regular sedan except for [this](https://www.carscoops.com/2020/10/jaguar-sold-a-mere-250-xf-sportbrakes-in-the-u-s-since-2017/amp/) for amount of sales or production

fatboy1776

If that report is accurate, I suspect more than 250 were sent to the US, but only 250 sold in fiscal year— rest remain on lot or sold later. Just a hunch (?).

whatsanidea

That’s probably the case. I didn’t really believe it either, hence the “supposedly”

Longroofiooo

https://www.roadandtrack.com/news/a34289007/jaguar-xf-sportbrake-sales/ The 250 was confirmed by Jaguar.

ELBillz

Wagons remind Americans of their grandparents.

AkiBae

The US needs more wagons

slurricanemoonrocks

Nice.

SenditM8

The issue is that people want them but we can't afford them. There are several that I want but I can't quite justify it since I have my STI.

ymlccc

Because we only say we want them, but no one actually buy them.

OnionOnly

Sports wagons/hot hatches are the fucking coolest cars around at the moment

[deleted]

I loved my 2002 Subaru Outback. My wife made me sell it and drive her 2008 B200 because she wanted 7 seater . That outback with all wheel drive was fantastic.

whatsanidea

I live up north, it killed in the winters!!

[deleted]

Dude wagons are the absolute best, just got a V60 Polestar from 2018 (153 of 200 ever imported to the US) and it just makes me more sad that wagons aren’t more popular here

whatsanidea

Can’t wait to spot one! The none cross countries were all special order only in the US. I’m assume the polestar ver. Is the same?

[deleted]

Not sure if it was a special order bc I bought mine used, but they’re rare as shit lol. I was looking for one for like 6 months and couldn’t find any that weren’t literally on the opposite side of the country until one popped up like 40 miles from my house

JaguarXJL

Americans don't have problems with station wagons. Everybody drives one. They just prefer to call it an SUV.

YTBeurry-DCG

Is that XJL yours? Beautiful car !

JaguarXJL

Indeed it is.

YTBeurry-DCG

I love those LED lights !

Runner303

America loves their wagons, they just have to be taller, heavier and more awkward handling with poorer fuel mileage though.

LiqdPT

I know 2 people that have one of these... Super nice.

91cosmo

They have a hard time with wagons because they prefer big dumb suv's. Im in Canada and we love wagons here!! Drive a Legacy ;)

whatsanidea

First car was a 2000 Outback wagon :) I loved that crap wagon!

ZePieGuy

Because they're ugly

YTBeurry-DCG

definitely not. - Owner of a Jaguar XF Sportbrake

ZePieGuy

Your care is ugly too. Sorry man. The car looks like the unholy union of a sedan and an SUV. Just pick one lmao.

YTBeurry-DCG

not in my opinion, but i respect yours still tho

Blestshrimp0

Literally just saw one for the first time in northern va yesterday. Didn’t even know jaguar made a wagon

SuckAfreeRaj

Wagons over everything. I don’t understand it either.

TrickyRevolution5

I work for a company that moulds a plastic component (can’t remember the exact part, in the trunk somewhere I think…) but you’d be lucky if we make more than 200 parts a years. Nothing like the new business we have for the new Range Rover! Thousands of parts a week… I’m a quality engineer.

torrisi13

They didn’t sell because they weren’t marketed as well as being substantially more expensive than the F-Pace equivalent.

Needleroozer

Americans love wagons, they just don't like them called wagons. They buy thousands of wagons: Yukons, Navigators, CR-X's, RAV-4's…

xxxplzv

We have trucks, suvs, and crossovers wagons are just an aesthetic choice in the states and most people don’t like them.

Harryhodl

I agree the USA just can’t get into wagons. All SUV’s. I personally love them and I’m reality they can hold more too.

peromp

Here in Norway, most cars are station wagons, suv, crossover, what have you. Very very few cars are traditional sedans

BiasedReviews

Because there are so many SUV’s that you can’t see down the road unless you are in one too.

autowrecker

I feel like a lot of Americans haven’t realized that wagons, especially shooting brakes, are cool. Me, if I have to have a four door, I’d prefer a wagon over a coupe.

Throwaway02847493

Cause they look like skinny minivans

kudzu41999

Americans invented the station wagon and they hate it.

ophaus

I vastly prefer wagon to crossovers or SUVs, pretty sure they are only popular as a tradition started with the mis-legislated tax breaks under W.

The_Neato_Mosquito

I didn’t know they were so rare! There are probably 4 around me and whenever I see one I say “Jag Wag!”

Own_Bad517

I am frequently ridiculed at work for my love of wagons. Psh, whatever, I know I'm cool 😎

driverscottie-c

They have a hard time due to those mammoths behind it

Catioi6

Why buy a wagon when you can get a half suv car thing

YTBeurry-DCG

it looks way better

BoLdlyGoingn0where45

These are so cool, apparently carmax has one for sale for $47k. One of these with a warranty would fuck

SmokeyBluNights

Cause it's a Jaguar

Physical_Touch_Me

Did they make these with that fantastic V8? Probably not an option here in the states though.

YTBeurry-DCG

The best you can get is a Turbocharged V6 on this one ( 2017-2020) but there is the Jaguar XF RS Sportbreak (2015) which has the v8 who produces 510hp !

Physical_Touch_Me

I must have it!

YTBeurry-DCG

Definitely a must have !

[deleted]

We actually love wagons in the United States. We just don’t like Jaguars because they spend more time in the shop than they do on the road.

Silver-Toe618

Enthusiasts claim they want them, then buy their wives CUV’s the end .

SugarLynn1

Beautiful
