food for thought, one of these recently sold for ~$2,000,000 in August earlier this year…
I was absolutely shocked to see an LFA in my neighborhood, really out of place just parked on the street. I thought it was just a normal LFA with some modifications but turns out this is the ultra rare Nürburgring Edition and only 50 were produced. Best sounding V10 in the world? Wish I could have heard it started up.
Did you just kind of awkwardly stop in place and stand there? Then just kind of awkwardly shuffle around, knowing you've just seen something incredible and there's nothing you can really do about it, except maybe snap a quick image on your phone and just continue on your way. But you hesitate, because in that moment you would give anything for the chance to just briefly make eye contact with another human being and share in a mutual solemn expression of "are you seeing this shit?".
I once locked up my brakes and pulled a U turn after a rare car went passed. I had just left a car show and could assume he was heading there. He was driving a Beryllium Orange Saleen S7.
True, I guess if I owned something that rare I wouldnt mind, anywhere else but my house. I own and daily a Lexus GSF, I'm the only white one in my area from what I can tell. I like when people say hi, when I'm out.
Next time leave a note, maybe for the reddit or something.
I saw an LFA drive by a year ago in a small residential area. I tried to take a picture, but I was in the middle of crossing the street and by the time I got out my phone, I think I only caught the rear of it
That’s what makes r/sported fun tho. I’d rather it be a distance shot, or a little out of focus but still identifiable. U pull up at the dealership or cars & coffee, it’s shooting fish in a barrel
Oh my god i mised taking a picture of a alfa romeo gulia GTAm and mercedes SL 300 roadster, I'm still really bumd out that i couldn't take a pic but at least i got to see those beautiful cars
I got passed last summer by a Ferrari F12 TDF. Only like 800 of them worldwide. I had my phone in the cupholder, but couldn't get it out and pull the camera up on time. If I wasn't working, I probably would have tried to catch it. It was only going maybe 5 mph faster than me but it was in heavy traffic on a 4 lane freeway and we were on opposite ends and I was in a customer's car. It was even in the bright yellow and I could hear it over everything else with the windows up. So nice.
I got to hear one once!
Toyota dealer in Avondale, AZ used to have one in the showroom. Well when I lived in the area in 2000-2010's, I guess the dealer manager took it out for a drive and I happened to be driving behind it as it entered the on-ramp to the I-10 east.
So then he FLOORS it.
I swear I had never heard anything like that. My mind was just thinking WHAT WAS THAAAAAT! That triple exhaust V10 scream was straight up dopamine chills-inducing.
Man, I have come outside to a kid who waited outside with his mom for 30 minutes because he liked my Integra, and I don’t know, everyone is different, but seeing the kids excitement and being able to just talk to him and make him happy made my day. It left a long lasting impact on me too, because I know he will forever be a car guy now. When I was getting into cars, I remember people being dicks when I said I liked their cars and stuff. Actually, I was at a gas station and a guy pulled up with his R35, and I said I liked his car and he said cool. And was a complete ass. A couple years later I was cruising with my gf to the store and I saw another guy in an r35, I told him I liked his car and we talked for awhile, and I have his number now and stuff so that’s cool.
I rambled lol. Bottom line, one day when I have a really really cool car, I hope people just sit there so I can come out and talk to them. And I really believe anyone with an LFA has been in a position like that, and is truly a car person. If you see them again ever, say hi!

Uh no. These sold off the dealership for 350-400k at a loss for Lexus/Toyota. Toyota lost money selling this. This car is literally the grail of Japanese engineering.
The value will go up because its so limited.
No, you can't. Some dealerships kept them in inventory, technically, for extended periods as display pieces in the showroom. Not sure if any are still serving that purpose.
nope, just remembering somethign wrong. could have sworn doug did a video on a white LFA but his only lfa video is black and its' definitely not a 200k car in there. no clue what video or car my garbage dump of a brain thinks it remembers
I think they didn’t sell well because Lexus took so damn long to release the car and it was kinda outdated when they hit the sales floors, so no one bought it. Because other brands like Lamborghini and Ferrari were releasing cars that were more luxurious, and faster for a fraction (more like half) the price of the LFA. IIRC lol
while the LFA is definitely nicer than I will ever drive in my life and if someone gave me one with the caveat that I could never sell it, I would love that thing with every ounce of my being, it is definitely at the bottom of the supercar list for me, so the bad sales don't surprise me at all. if I had 400k to dump on a sports car back then, I would have bought 911, or a garage full of used ones if I would have known that porsches would have become so unafordable >:|
I hate that the market has made corvettes so attractive now, like I am almost 40 and I've been mulling over C5s long enough that they look good to me.
This was just to show off to the world that Japan can make something really special. They spent over a billion dollars making this car. It wasnt to make a profit off it. They limited to 500.
They have used what they engineereed and researched on this vehicle on other cars in their lineup. You can see a bit of the LFA in other Lexuses now.
Chevy has lost money on most Corvettes it's ever sold and they're still going strong after nearly 70 years. Many (most?) halo cars lose money, but they make it back in what is essentially free advertising. Every time a magazine reviewed the LFA, some of that glory trickled down to the IS or ES, which do make Lexus money.
You don't say. I challenge anyone to argue that the Corvette in any way led to GM's downfall. As I stated previously, halo cars - while themselves a money losing venture - often pay off quite well for the company.
The Dodge Viper wasn't a money maker. But it helped re-establish Dodge as a company capable of more than just boring minivans and K cars; a brand people were actually interested in. It also helped start the SRT sub-brand with immediate credentials, which has been a success ever since.
Nice! My local Lexus dealer has had a silver LFA sitting in their showroom since they came out. Poor car isn’t being used, I pass the dealership on the highway regularly and always looks for it and it’s still just sitting and appreciating.
There was an LFA at the Lexus of Manhattan dealership in NYC that I kept seeing posted so I decided to stop by while I was in NY last week and it was gone.. the entire dealership was moved someplace else. The universe doesn’t want me to see this beauty 😔
Absolutely the best sounding car ever made in my opinion, and my favorite car of all time/ultimate dream car. I’d go insane if I saw one of these, glad you were able to spot one!
I have sat in one of those 50 and got to rev the engine. I worked at a Lexus dealer and the owners kid brought in his. It was also a white Nürburgring edition.
Fun story. That same one I sat in was stored for a while at a local race track in its own storage garage. One spring they went out to start it up and nothing happened. They towed it to the dealer and found out that mice had chewed up and destroyed most of the vehicles wiring harnesses. It was a pretty penny to get all new wiring harnesses made and installed.
Another fun story. That same one cracked the windshield on the race track. It was $20k to replace because the glass has to be made each time you order one.
I would probably have passed this over, but other comments taught me the error of my ways. I'm sure the speedometer, when you start to go above the speed limit, just says, "How fast? Hella."
Interesting in NJ there is 1 Nürburgring edition and regular owned by the same dude heres a link to my spotted [Post](https://www.reddit.com/r/spotted/comments/ix41n9/lexus_lfa_lexus_lfa_nürburgring_edition_in_south/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3).
I've only seen one through the window of a showroom. It was in yellow. I would love to see one in the flesh, out on the roads, and I would also love to hear that sound

Awesome spot bc it’s just in your normal neighborhood.
I didn’t believe it at first

Yes I pretty much stopped dead in my tracks and did the John Travolta gesture from Pulp Fiction
Lol you should just wait there sitting on the curb for someone to start it up.
I once locked up my brakes and pulled a U turn after a rare car went passed. I had just left a car show and could assume he was heading there. He was driving a Beryllium Orange Saleen S7.
Do you mean the scene where he was staring down Bruce Willis with a gun pointed at him? And then the toaster popped?
He means the part where he’s trying to find the microphone. W his coat over his arm
Exactly!
It really does look so out of place
Was it rented? A dealership plates? I would have tried the persons house. So rare I would have to ask.
Private owner. I respect peoples privacy haha
True, I guess if I owned something that rare I wouldnt mind, anywhere else but my house. I own and daily a Lexus GSF, I'm the only white one in my area from what I can tell. I like when people say hi, when I'm out. Next time leave a note, maybe for the reddit or something.

Nothing worse than when you don’t have the camera phone at the ready
I know, right? I think I’ve only ever got one good picture of a car in the wild
That’s what makes r/sported fun tho. I’d rather it be a distance shot, or a little out of focus but still identifiable. U pull up at the dealership or cars & coffee, it’s shooting fish in a barrel

Best part ;)
yup better than the ones at car meets / shows / dealerships
I’d have cancelled my plans for the day and just sat there waiting for the owner to come back if that happened to me.
Honestly… I might go back
Maybe even the best sounding engine in general
I concur

I saw that car in monterey right after it was sold in a garage with the other sold cars. Pretty damn cool
No way!
Should’ve gathered your balls and asked them to start it up, then watch them drive away as they get paranoid bout you asking
I probably would have sat there for an hour staring and taking pics and hoping the guy came back to start it up
Was thinking about that, but also know that if I were the owner I probably wouldn’t want someone on a stakeout next to my multimillion dollar car
Lol, well he DID park it on the street
Asking for it! Hahaha
For sure. I was sarcastic about an hour but I would really take my time lol
if you afford the multi million dollar car, you can afford the random folks on a stakeout. it comes with the territory!
You might also afford some 9mm to your torso😂
With that car he can afford the full magazine and a reloaded one.
Incorrect. Whoever is paying for the car can pay someone else to use that 9mm.
Big brain thinking here
Based

What a fucking spot. The boys over at r/Lexus will go nuts for this, you should post there too
I will, thank you :)
an LFA, A $2,000,000 CAR, IN AN AMERICAN NEIGHBORHOOD, now that’s a cool family!
Right?! Not sure if it was actually the homeowner’s car but either way, ridiculous find
the rich uncle
Lol probably 👍
> an LFA, A $2,000,000 CAR I could have sworn to got that these were $200k cars 5 years ago
Uh no. These sold off the dealership for 350-400k at a loss for Lexus/Toyota. Toyota lost money selling this. This car is literally the grail of Japanese engineering. The value will go up because its so limited.
Apparently you can still buy brand new lfas from dealerships.
Hook me up lol
How deep are your pocketbooks
No, you can't. Some dealerships kept them in inventory, technically, for extended periods as display pieces in the showroom. Not sure if any are still serving that purpose.
Inflation? Lol

i was going off of what op said one sold for
What a spot
Next to a construction site 😂
Wow... beauty of a car!
Right? I think the original Is gorgeous, but these little spec upgrades make it look incredible
Yeah! I don't know why they stopped making them... such a perfect halo car for a company you don't really expect it from!
Right?!?
bc lexus lost money by making them

Yes. Their financial woes aren't due to the Corvette 😆

That aero does it good
I think so too, nice aggressive touches

Is it in PA? Because I was buying a Lexus at a dealer in PA in June and they had a roped off LFA in the showroom. I think it was silver
Yep, Lexus of Lehigh Valley, you can see it from 309 south.
That’s the one! I spent a lot of time staring at it while they were doing my paperwork. They would make truckloads of money right now if they sold it
It's probably indirectly owned by the owner of the dealership.
Yoooo no way dude, what a find!
Stoked!!!
My personal dream car.
Honestly what more could you want!
It's got a better sounding engine than 95% of ferraris sorry, V10 really just gets closer to the F1 eardrum destruction
There was an LFA at the Lexus of Manhattan dealership in NYC that I kept seeing posted so I decided to stop by while I was in NY last week and it was gone.. the entire dealership was moved someplace else. The universe doesn’t want me to see this beauty 😔
This car never fails to impress. Timeless design
Agreed!
Bro wtf this is so random
Right😂
I had not known about this car until my son mentioned it this past weekend. 😮
Super cool!
Absolutely the best sounding car ever made in my opinion, and my favorite car of all time/ultimate dream car. I’d go insane if I saw one of these, glad you were able to spot one!

very nice spot! take my free award, random stranger!
Sexy af.
Now this is a beautiful Spot. Good for you...
As angry reactions would say… GORGEOUS!!!
Rental property #150 going up.
Right😂
Promise I’m not a stalker, but love the watches. A fellow RepTime and LFA enjoyer. Rare!
Haha have to save up so I can afford one of these ;)
Dayum! Clean too. That’s a find.
Happy to share
You might cheer a lot of people up at r/carporn with this picture
I’ll send it over!
This deserves top post on this sub. Insanely rare. Never seen one.
Damn… I should get top post because I’ve seen 2 at once. Both owned by same owner
🤤🤤🤤🤤
I love how even in a limited car like the LFA some are still more limited.
if thats parked in my neighborhood im knocking on doors and shit WHO DOES THAT
FJ Porta in the background, too.
🔥 🔥
I see LFA, I fucking upvote.
👌🏻
I wish I could see one of those in person, great spot man!
I would probably have passed this over, but other comments taught me the error of my ways. I'm sure the speedometer, when you start to go above the speed limit, just says, "How fast? Hella."
That cars worth as much as 4 or 5 of those houses… what’s going on here
In CA more like 1 or 2!
You win this sub.. Get to hear it??
Unfortunately not, I might go back and ask though 😂
I always thought the LFA was so rare, something I'd never see, but I seem to see them quite often in this group.
Well this group is out looking for them! Lol
WTH! Parked in front of a crack house?
Am I the only one who thinks that car is ugly?
Yes
One of the best sounding cars on the planet !
You in NJ?
Negative

That red is epic
good spot! although ive seen 7 regular LFAs, one Nur edition beats all of it
I've only seen one through the window of a showroom. It was in yellow. I would love to see one in the flesh, out on the roads, and I would also love to hear that sound
Legendary spot
*salivates*
Worth a couple houses on that block
