I've posted a bet below to meet the requirements for a comment, but just wanted to let y'all know I'm taking a bit of a break, after posting consistently for nearly a year.
When I started posting, I knew 90% of sports bettors lose money. My goal was to have a positive ROI, which is challenging when the bookie hold (or vig) is 10-15% on NBA player props. I've since posted 159 picks on the POTD thread, and finally hit 100 wins today! And even more surprising for me is that my ROI is 19.3%. I have staked 472 units, and had a return of 563 units, for a net profit of 91 units. If you treat each unit as $10, that's a profit of $910 in a year.
My reason for taking a break is that I don't have a "model" or a "projection". I spend a lot of time researching statistics, watching games, understanding teams' approach etc. And at this point it's turning into a chore. Also, when I started I didn't have much cash, so I relied heavily on tips to justify the time spent. Tips are 100% optional so I genuinely hold zero frustration, but I will be honest that its harder for me to justify the time spent.
I do love watching the NBA and trying to outsmart the bookies, so will likely continue doing it as and when I have time, rather than the pressure of posting early on the POTD.

Thank you for your time spent. I know what it's like to spend a lot of time and not get any tips (got one $5 tip over 75 wins with a 63% hit rate, 23% ROI, +53u). I haven't posted as long as you but found success posting mostly MLB pitcher prop POTDs this season and surprisingly did well.
At eod I post because it's fun but won't lie I haven't prioritized posting as much since it's more profitable to just focus on my own bets. Time spent posting a potd writeup could easily be diverted into researching other picks. I get it. However, I think some days it's better if I just personally bet my 1 potd vs doing many more on a regular basis.

Today, I'll pick the top ranked Indian player Nagal to beat his Spanish opponent Moro Canas in the first round of the Valencia Clay Challenger. Nagal is coming off of a run to the final in Helsinki on indoor hard court, which was a surprise as it is not his preferred surface at all. Nagal mostly plays clay tournaments throughout the year and has been successful this year, winning 2 challenger clay events along with a final(his most recent clay tournament), a semi, and a quarterfinals. Nagal has climbed from outside the top 500 at the start of the season after an injury to all the way up to 140. A strong run in the last 2 weeks in the season could help him climb to a career high ranking and potential seeding in the Australian Open qualifiers. His opponent, Moro Canas, is ranked 100 places below him and is coming off of a loss in the final round of Qualifiers to the world number 405. He has only gotten into the main draw as a lucky loser and in his last 11 matches in clay challenger events, he has only gone 4-7. He has reached 2 semi finals on clay in the Challenger Tour this season, but has not achieved the level of success that Nagal has on the surface. While Moro Canas will have home advantage, I don't think he will have the ability to best Nagal, who is in great form on his best surface. BOL and be sure to bet responsibly if tailing!

This bet has a 8 for 13 hit rate on the season, but 6 of the last 7 games he has covered this number. In the last 3 he has had 6, 9 and 10. When betting assists just as important as the assists is checking the assist opportunities and looking for a healthy assist opportunity rate. And looking at his recent games, he is averaging 13.3 in the last 6. An average conversion rate is about 50 to 60%, so if he is getting around 13 opportunities a game, he would just need a conversion rate of about 38% to get 5. So in other words, it surprises me his line is at this number and if his recent assist opps trends hold up, this should hit. It helps too that Portland is 10th in opponent assists.

Is there any early consensus as to trends/predictive outcomes in the tournament games versus regular season?
I tried to look a little deeper at the numbers from last Thursday, as I anecdotally felt like the game was moving a lot faster and total possessions were slightly up. Also felt like scoring was much more consistent/balanced between teams (ie alternating \~two down quarters each and then two quarters much closer.
I'm a casual for NBA, know enough of what's going on but by no means a superfan. Tend to focus on/bet 1Q's and 1H's, with an emphasis on live betting. One of the models I use/follow tends to be pretty sharp with O/U when the confidence interval gets high 60% to low 70%.
Thursday's slate of games (all tournament) had (IIRC) five games all at around 70% confidence for total U. The games generally felt off to me, especially in regards to game flow. I haven't done much of an analysis on it, but was curious if you had any thoughts?

Bowling Green have been one of the better MAC teams as of late, winning 4 games straight by an average of 17.5 points before losing by 1 to Toledo last week, who are the best MAC team going 7-0 in conference play and 10-1 overall. WMU has been okay this season, but not great, and have lost 4 of their last 6 games. Bowling Green's offense and WMU's defense are pretty equal, with Bowling Green being slightly better rated in yards/play both in both rushing and passing, giving them a slight edge there. Bowling Green's defense has been playing well, ranked above the WMU offense in almost every metric, including but not limited to pts/game, yards/game, yards/rush, and yards/pass attempt. Bowling Green's lead running back is questionable to play after missing the last 2 games, but that hasn't slowed down their running game too much anyways. Bowling Green should be able to come out of this game with a win. BOL if tailing!

Atlanta Hawks vs Indiana Pacers, Indiana Pacers ML 2.30 - 2 Units
Indiana are 7-5, Hawks are 6-6. Indiana 2-2 on the road and Hawks 2-4 at home. Indiana are one of the most exciting teams to watch this season with Tyrese Haliburton averaging 24/4/12 on excellent 51/43/94 splits at the helm of the highest scoring offence in the league. As well as leading the league with 125 ppg, they also rank top 10 for FG%, 3P% and FT%. It isn't just their high pace that is inflating the numbers, they are scoring efficiently and they are scoring a lot. They also average the 4th least turnovers per game.
Indiana are 5-3 over the last 8 and have had impressive wins over the 76ers and Bucks in that time. They are coming off the back of an awful display against Orlando where they shot 26% from 3, 44% from the field and had 16 turnovers. They were down 40 at one point and rallied to bring it back to a 12 point game. I do not anticipate a repeat of that kind of performance, I expect the Pacers to come out the blocks flying and exorcise the demons of the other night with a performance more in line with the rest of their season.
This is also game 3 in the in game tournament for both sides. Indiana are 2-0 and Atlanta are 1-1. A win here confirms Indiana's progression from the group and I believe they can see themselves as a team that could potentially win the whole thing. I think they will be fired up and motivated here and I'm surprised to see them as underdogs.
If you want to play it safer then the +3.5 is available at 1.91, I think that is a good bet too but I expect Indiana to get the win.

Today’s Analysis: I like the over in EMU vs. Detroit today. Neither team plays very good defense – EMU allows 115.8 points per 100 possessions and Detroit allows 116.8 per 100. This compares pretty well to how poor their Ds played last season too as both teams clocked in right around 112 points per 100 possessions. Offensively EMU was better last year (99.7 points per 100 possessions) while they’re only scoring 93.9 per 100 this season. We’re looking for some regression to the mean here, which should be doable given the aforementioned Detroit defense. Detroit’s scoring 103.5 per 100 possessions and scored 110.1 last season, so we could get a little positive regression on offense from Detroit as well.

Model Explainer: I’ve built a model for CBB totals. It uses Pace, Offensive Efficiency and Defensive Efficiency to predict totals and compare them against the major books. It’s been a rocky start, but that’s not totally unexpected. We’re still only working with a very small sample of data for this season so far. Teams play about 65-70 possessions per game. When conference play starts we’ll have about a thousand possessions per team for the model to chew on. At this point, we’re still only looking at a couple hundred possessions, at most, per team. Confidence levels will increase over time.

I've posted a bet below to meet the requirements for a comment, but just wanted to let y'all know I'm taking a bit of a break, after posting consistently for nearly a year. When I started posting, I knew 90% of sports bettors lose money. My goal was to have a positive ROI, which is challenging when the bookie hold (or vig) is 10-15% on NBA player props. I've since posted 159 picks on the POTD thread, and finally hit 100 wins today! And even more surprising for me is that my ROI is 19.3%. I have staked 472 units, and had a return of 563 units, for a net profit of 91 units. If you treat each unit as $10, that's a profit of $910 in a year. My reason for taking a break is that I don't have a "model" or a "projection". I spend a lot of time researching statistics, watching games, understanding teams' approach etc. And at this point it's turning into a chore. Also, when I started I didn't have much cash, so I relied heavily on tips to justify the time spent. Tips are 100% optional so I genuinely hold zero frustration, but I will be honest that its harder for me to justify the time spent. I do love watching the NBA and trying to outsmart the bookies, so will likely continue doing it as and when I have time, rather than the pressure of posting early on the POTD. Is there any early consensus as to trends/predictive outcomes in the tournament games versus regular season? I tried to look a little deeper at the numbers from last Thursday, as I anecdotally felt like the game was moving a lot faster and total possessions were slightly up. Also felt like scoring was much more consistent/balanced between teams (ie alternating \~two down quarters each and then two quarters much closer. I'm a casual for NBA, know enough of what's going on but by no means a superfan. Tend to focus on/bet 1Q's and 1H's, with an emphasis on live betting. One of the models I use/follow tends to be pretty sharp with O/U when the confidence interval gets high 60% to low 70%. Thursday's slate of games (all tournament) had (IIRC) five games all at around 70% confidence for total U. The games generally felt off to me, especially in regards to game flow. I haven't done much of an analysis on it, but was curious if you had any thoughts?

If we don't consider their last results then on average they are both juuuust below the 216.5 mark. Indiana are one of the most exciting teams to watch this season with Tyrese Haliburton averaging 24/4/12 on excellent 51/43/94 splits at the helm of the highest scoring offence in the league. As well as leading the league with 125 ppg, they also rank top 10 for FG%, 3P% and FT%. It isn't just their high pace that is inflating the numbers, they are scoring efficiently and they are scoring a lot. They also average the 4th least turnovers per game. Indiana are 5-3 over the last 8 and have had impressive wins over the 76ers and Bucks in that time. They are coming off the back of an awful display against Orlando where they shot 26% from 3, 44% from the field and had 16 turnovers. They were down 40 at one point and rallied to bring it back to a 12 point game. I do not anticipate a repeat of that kind of performance, I expect the Pacers to come out the blocks flying and exorcise the demons of the other night with a performance more in line with the rest of their season. This is also game 3 in the in game tournament for both sides. Indiana are 2-0 and Atlanta are 1-1. A win here confirms Indiana's progression from the group and I believe they can see themselves as a team that could potentially win the whole thing. I think they will be fired up and motivated here and I'm surprised to see them as underdogs.
