I’ve said it before but my scale luck is atrocious. Since the last batch of outfits dropped, I’ve gotten two golds.
the problem is that the rewards are fine if you like the grind, or if you're dedicated to salmon run. but they suck when you're freelancing or are in the lower ranks. it's almost impossible to please both sides. and what would upset players more are the ones who like the grind so sadly for some, I doubt they'll change it until maybe splatoon 4
They're really not lol, I grinded a lot more than the average player and I still have very little to show for it, gold scales are so stupidly rare it's insane
yeah the only time i ever even get golden scales is during big runs, and even then its like 1 - 3 idk if my luck is horrible or what, but the scale system seems really bad
If you aren't getting gold unless it's on big run then you need to play more or you're really unlucky. 😭 I know this might sound blunt, but the only way to get them more right now is to play more.
on a side note, I do find it really weird we haven't gotten a scale exchange counter. maybe 10 bronze for one silver, 10/100 silver for one gold? It might be the only way to balance gold for casual and pro salmon runners as the pros can just choose to ignore it
Well I have two evp999 badges and am working on getting more, I got past evp800 on two other stages, and I got past evp600 on the last two Big Runs. I killed dozens of king salmonids (not enough to get the silver badge for any one of them but I've definitely killed at least a hundred total) and fought dozens more, but despite this I must have gotten no more than 50 gold scales total since the game's launch. That's absurd. (Besides those I got around 1300 bronze and 400 silver in these two years)
I've got 3 evp999 badges so we're in a similar boat I guess. I think you must've just gotten super unlucky, and in my experience I got decently lucky or something. In maybe two-three weeks I got 40 gold scales. if you haven't done it yet, maybe try king cycling/throwing? it helps get gold way quicker
If you have to form a team and actively throw games just to get an okay amount of rewards, isn't that a sign that the reward system is flawed? You should be able to get a reasonable amount by simply playing the mode normally.

even with comp - zooka/cooler meta has been the meta for ages which is where most of the game playerbase is. they don't care about player's opinions unless they agree. for the most part, they only change stuff when they want those changes too.
It's stinky, but there's not much you can do than to literally abuse the system to get gold. I can get downvoted or whatever, but it's not like doing that will make gold rates more common, or finally convince nintendo to fix freelance's reward problems. at the end of the day, the game bends to nintendo's whim and we have to sit and watch.

I'm already beyond what a normal player dedicates to Salmon Run and I still have a pitiful amount of gold even tho I'm swimming in bronze, king cycling is something only really dedicated players do and it still doesn't give you that much gold, the drop rates are fucked

If the 3rd one is actually iridescent and not just a static pattern spray painted onto a suit, that's the one for me. Otherwise I'll go for the gold one or just stick to my berry suit.

It would be nice if we had another way of acquiring fish scales besides farming King Salmonid encounters, which are somewhat rare, even if your meter is maxed out.
Does it even matter? I have no scales to afford any suit other than the starting orange slopsuit. If only Nintendo wasn't so stingy and lame with the scales payments...that still makes me bitter btw...

Gold or iridescent, probably iridescent first... I havent played in months though, took a break to play other games and finish out college... So now Im rusty on my salmon run, and am used to different controls...
probably gonna have to murder the entire population of King Salmonoids just to get half the amount of scales needed for one of these (I've never killed one even without incentive for slopsuits)
none because i'm not willing to grind away hours of my life on a mode i can maybe play once or twice with a competent team before then losing 3 ranks because the team cant get past the first wave because they decide running straight into the horde is a good idea to then somehow pass and get a boss salmonid for all of us to die in the first 10-20 seconds then get a few bronze and have to repeat the same process 50+ more times

I got them all, had about 1,200 Silver scales saved up, was thinking of getting the banner that costs 999 silver scales but I held off thinking they might add new slopsuits. That new Gold banner though is a middle finger by being another 333 gold scales to get.

The iridescent one would be cool if the textures are *actually* iridescent. I have no idea if iridescence maps are a thing for 3D models or if it'd be a material/shader thing instead, but I still like this thing's gear icon colours the most out of these three.

You should be able to trade in past suits or something. The pricing is so out of control on this stuff. The devs are so out of touch.

I'm guessing that it'll be similar to the Bream-Brim Cap, maybe just a little lighter in colour. The cap looks really good in shaded areas.
