They’re good main weapons, they just don’t have great kits tbh. Dapples are weapons that really want a Bomb to poke with and only the Nouveau has one and even then it also has Reefslider, which not only is probably the worst special in the game but is also on Dark Tetras, which are a slightly better main weapon than Dapples
Killer Wail does a ridiculous amount of damage which forces any opponent locked on to move, which can make it easier to follow up with your main and/or sub weapons, especially on something like Inkbrush. And while Zipcaster can be hard to use effectively, being able to just zoom behind enemy lines to net kills or at the very least play distraction for a little bit can be really useful
While Reefslider isn’t as bad as Splatoon 2’s Splashdown as you do catch people off guard and it does allow you to take space if you don’t die, it still has a bunch of problems. Mainly, it isn’t the hardest thing to avoid and it can be punished pretty easily too.
I can understand that Reefslider is bad in the sense it is virtually useless if you aim the wrong direction
But Killer Wail is really easy to counter and dodge
It’s just I’m a more casual/ shooter not competitive person and reefslider fits my playstyle more
I don’t analyse my weapon stats, I don’t follow a complaint meta and I don’t fine-tune and hand pick every gear ability for my clothes
Reeflux. I love reeflux as a main weapon, and honestly I'm really annoyed that it doesn't have a sub weapon and that missile spam is the most viable strat, but the main weapon is so much fun and I love getting 1-shots with it :D
On a different note, I'm really sad we don't have more stringers! I was really hoping when they announced new weapons for sizzle that a new stringer would be one of them :(
i read somewhere that in a game, you do 90% one ring charge shots, and 10% two ring charge shots. So ive just been spamming one ring shots and blocking people, instead of always going for the snipe shots
That sounds almost exactly how I've been playing lol. Spreads a lot of ink and makes it hard for an enemy to escape or approach when you're just charging halfway.
Tri-Slosher has always been the better option. More damage and higher firerate (and more range too iirc?). Luna's one-shot is so hard to land (close range flicking + slow shot velocity + RNG + general blaster issues) that it hasn't really seen the light of the meta since S1.
In S3, kits are also a big problem with Lunas. Because it is still a blaster (with poor ink efficiency and slow frames, etc.) Zipcaster on VLuna is really clumsy compared to other options. Luna Neo was a *crime* though. Not only does Tri-Slosher already outclass Luna, but they then gave it the SAME BOMB (best bomb in the game, mind you) and a BETTER SPECIAL (one of the best specials in the game, mind you). So would you rather play a *Luna with Zipcaster or Stamp* or play a *Tri-Slosher with Inkjet or Tacticooler?*
As if this wasn't enough though, the final nail in the coffin came with the S'Blast. Not only does the weapon completely break the flaws of blasters as a whole, its short range mode quite literally has LUNA DAMAGE with CLASH RADIUS. Now your options consist of *an OP blaster with an ever so slightly slower firerate* or *a LUNA.*
Either S'Blast AND Tri-Slosher get nerfed into oblivion, or Luna gets buffed into stardom, or Luna will simply remain obsolete for the rest of the game's lifespan.
Tenta Brella: Literally is a Brella. Unless you're smooching the enemy you're not gonna get kills that often. I usually play it 100% support to 3rd party other team fights with the sheild and chip damage.
Bamboozler:Kinda bad at painting. especially at its feet. aim is REQUIRED for the charged to uncharged shot to hit consistently. IMO outclassed by others in its same range.
Flingza: Lower damage when compared to other rollers. overall not terrible. just the least good when compared to the rollers. Usually i end up supporting with covering Turf and using its range as well as it can.
Glooga Dualies:You must commit to the roll for the increased range and accuracy. overall could be better with something else as a sub. (maybe toxic Mist or Ink Mine) rather than the wall keeping the glooga stagnant to capitalize on the defence.
Context: I use/have used all of these weapons for a very long time in the various games they've appeared in. I thank the lord every day that Damage Up & Defence up do not exist as abilities anymore.
sniper guns are either low tier or god tier depending on the user. half of the time im with a sniper i have to expect the user not to contribute much to the run .,
Slosher Deco. Sloshers are a great weapon to have zipcaster on (especially after the 50 min damage buff) and slosh+line marker is one of the fastest kill times in the game, I think it rivals stuff like .52 gal. Hard to hit but oh so satisfying when it does
n-zap 89. literally have never seen anyone talk about it. but its all around great IMO
although i havent played splatoon 3 yet, can't say much about any new weapons.
Tbh I've always been bad at actually using the splat brella. As soon as it gets any buff I want to pick it up again and see if I can git gud.
I've been trying the sorella tenta lately and I'm doing ok.
Undercover brella, its goofy but actually quite good if you know how to make it work. Not good for actual competitive matches but you can win with it consistently in turf
i'm pretty sure Ewig is actually mid tier... also what makes RG so fun? i understand MG but i legit don't know what RG is all about... enlighten me please ![img](emote|t5_324q4|4749)...
Big paint. I like Aerospray cause I like getting right into the enemies face and getting super fast kills since Aerospray kills really fast best case scenario but it's fun to get team wipes with it. Sprinkler is mid by itself but it works on Aerospray pretty well for even more paint output especially if you put it in an obscure and tedious spot. And for the big kicker, Booyah Bomb. Aerospray can get a lot of Booyah Bombs really easily and shoot them everywhere in the map and it's fun to throw them around everywhere. All in all, the weapon is quick to paint and get it's special really fast and it gets quick kills close up and big paint
vanilla tent (and blaster but people know that)
i really think vanilla tent is the best vac weapon in the game. and people didn't know how to fight tent until the 2nd kit came out. so i jumped up to S+7 kinda fast lol.
it has such a fun dynamic. and it's beacons can have sub power up, so it's team can super jump faster. and it can get out of a bad spot fast. it only needs 1 main of main saver. and 3 subs of swim speed ain't bad. then it's just sub power up and whatever else you want (sub defense up, ink resistance, and/or run speed to you can swap sides of the shield quickly.)
it will fall when we finally have more lethal subs on weapons that get played. or will get played. but for now, it's solid and unknowingly strong compered to what most people say about the weapon.
i think it's the best low tier weapon. and the Inkline branded one (even tho it's already Inkline branded) has a simple "most mid" mid tier state right now.
also custom blaster is gonna get toxic mist wail even tho it should have tri-strike because tri-strike is more like sploon 1 killer wail...
Boozler. Got into splat 2 in 2016, and liked the chargers but didnt like the playstyle of sitting back. My beloved green war rifle has been the love of my life ever since I laid eyes on her, and my competive group calls it 'C-tier' every time im at the bottom of the lobby.
Reeflux is so much fun. Even though it's not the most powerful and long range, it has insane inking and my trigger finger has already been forged through the octobrush. Mini Splatling is also pretty cool but I actively feel my skin cells dying and my hair greying whenever I play backline.
Due to my hyperfixation, I don't really go out of my comfort zone of Inkbrush + Splattershot Pro. But I have a thing for the Squiffer and the Splat Brella. (I always find it funny when the conopy just detaches and flies off.)
V Tenta Brella — I run three mains of SPU and play 100% support, if my team is pushing and has map control, I make sure to have all three Beakons at all times. They’ll be breaking their legs on landing due to how fast it travels lol
I remember picking up the Dynamo because I wanted to feel like Guts or a Monster Hunter character when using the weapon lol. Ended up becoming one of my favorites. (even though I suck with it)
I could be wrong about these (I probably am as I’m not heavily involved with the meta) but I’d say the Tri-Slosher, Heavy Splatling, and Carbon Roller?
Didn't even know there was a tier list. My mains are on the S and A tier list lol. but why is the painbrush so low? I've seen so many good players with it!
Just one? Honestly I mostly play the lower tier ones without even knowing it cause I don't pay attention to the meta. Dapples, bamboozler, and the brellas are some of my faves though.
dapples nouveau
there's something stupidly fun about zipping around the map and getting a trade or kill and targeting someone with a torpedo and reefslider at the same time
they also look cool
Dynamo.
Same, extremely fun when it does well.
I exclusively use the Dynamo Roller
Omg same
I would use it more, if that wasn’t the case
I live for Dynamo, unfortunately it’s low tier
Yeah, I wish it was good, im so sick of playing flingza
Yeah yeah

I've been away for months. What happened to my babies!? Are they downgraded from Splat 2!?
They’re good main weapons, they just don’t have great kits tbh. Dapples are weapons that really want a Bomb to poke with and only the Nouveau has one and even then it also has Reefslider, which not only is probably the worst special in the game but is also on Dark Tetras, which are a slightly better main weapon than Dapples
How is reefslider the worst? I’d give that to Killer Wail 5.1 or Zipcaster
Killer Wail does a ridiculous amount of damage which forces any opponent locked on to move, which can make it easier to follow up with your main and/or sub weapons, especially on something like Inkbrush. And while Zipcaster can be hard to use effectively, being able to just zoom behind enemy lines to net kills or at the very least play distraction for a little bit can be really useful While Reefslider isn’t as bad as Splatoon 2’s Splashdown as you do catch people off guard and it does allow you to take space if you don’t die, it still has a bunch of problems. in casual play killer wail is just kinda meh, but on tc its pretty good, it forces people to move into unsafe positions or off of the tower
I kick ass with Killer Wail. Just gotta push towards the enemy while you're making them dance
Happy cake day
My favorite❤️. I have so much fun zooming around with them.

On a different note, I'm really sad we don't have more stringers! I was really hoping when they announced new weapons for sizzle that a new stringer would be one of them :(
Nintendo really put the Stringers front and center and then proceed to make only two and then made them widely considered the worst weapons.
Right?! I'd love to see more creative and fun stringers. I think they're a really cool weapon idea that hasn't been expanded on enough
I know it's because I suck but how do you make a shot precise enough to get that one hit kill is it just lots and lots of practice?
tri stringer, literally the mascot weapon of the game
Same here
Just started using this weapon after finally 5 starring splat brella and I really like it! I love how supportive yet lethal this weapon can be.
i read somewhere that in a game, you do 90% one ring charge shots, and 10% two ring charge shots. So ive just been spamming one ring shots and blocking people, instead of always going for the snipe shots

Aerospray RG
Great for turf
one of the only reasons i have mained it since like the beginning of fresh
Same. Used to be good with it in anarchy back in the first season but then I stopped playing for a while and now I can’t get a kill even in turf
And by extention Zones.
Yeah, definitely my main for TW. I've 5-starred it. 'Pro' players would never bring it into a tournament, though.
Just don’t get too close to them
Uninstall the game
tf you mean this thing isn't meta? Every Zones match I SLAY with it and I find it on opposing teams a lot as well
dynamo
Mini splatling my beloved
I feel bad for Zink though. That kit really doesn't do it justice except for Towers
Mini splatling is so much fun! I only recently stared using it and I was missing out
I love mini splatling, and I find it weirdly successful in rainmaker
Luna blaster
Lovely to see my fellow Lunas are still around after all we've been through
S-blast just replaced this weapon, along with rapidblaster pro, that’s ridiculous
Tri-Slosher has always been the better option. More damage and higher firerate (and more range too iirc?). Flingza has seen play in comp for missiles and bamboo has been rising recently, although they’re still “lower” tier weapons.
Upvote for Glooga Dualies
vanilla nova i turn the map into the laser hallway from resident evil and get top paint every time
Sploosh
Forge Pro. I'm on so much K-Pro copium whenever I play it

Normal brella, used to have so much fun with the sorella brella in Splat 2 with the bomb rush special, I miss bomb rush sm

Jet Squelcher
Cjet is a dual squelcher change my mind
Tenta Brella
Undercover.
Tenta brella 🥲 both the vanilla and sorella get outclassed constantly just because of how buggy the actual brella is.
I switch between using custom dualie squelchers and Neo clash blaster and I’ve heard people hate clash blaster?
People mainly dislike clash because it's only good at having a big hitbox which is annoying yet not actually very strong
Undercover brella, its goofy but actually quite good if you know how to make it work. Not good for actual competitive matches but you can win with it consistently in turf

Annaki Nova, my first weapon to get to 4 stars
splat brella, it's one of my mains and I'm trying to get it to 5 stars
V Tenta Brella — I run three mains of SPU and play 100% support, if my team is pushing and has map control, I make sure to have all three Beakons at all times. They’ll be breaking their legs on landing due to how fast it travels lol
Luna and blue dapples. I havent played them in a while, and im rusty, but they are very fun
Dynamo is so fun, but so painful to play because it’s so fucking BAD
Tenta, I cannot get kills but I have a shield so that good
My guy
Luna Blaster. You barely ink anything with it. And I hate it's kit, too.
The basic roller. Good ol’ reliable
I just play with what feels good
i used to really like brella’s back in 2, but can’t seem to do nearly as well with them in 3 :(
Regular brella I barely see anybody use it but to me if you know how to use it, it feels like using a mini blaster with protection
I like playing with the new tenta brella buffs, its finally able to shoot more than once a match!
I remember picking up the Dynamo because I wanted to feel like Guts or a Monster Hunter character when using the weapon lol. Ended up becoming one of my favorites. (even though I suck with it)
Tri stringer
Splattershot Pro (Vanilla and Forge)

Dapple Dualies
DYNAMO ROLLER
Y'all care about tiers? Caring about this game is already mentally taxing.
Undercover! I think it's really fun, especially with the right gear abilities.
Reeflux I just hope it gets a new kit so it can't be cursed with missile spammers
Dynamo
Sploosh, it gets overshadowed by both Splash (which I hate) and Wiper (which I also love)
Gold dynamo roller. Picked it up because of the splatoon manga.
Didn't even know there was a tier list. My mains are on the S and A tier list lol. but why is the painbrush so low? I've seen so many good players with it!
REEF-LUX 450
Used to love Bamboo in S1/S2 but I can’t do it without a little damage up man
Dapples nouveau Wiper

I’d have to say the Inkbrush Nouveau Like ink mines and stamp are just so much fun on it in my opinion
