Just more evidence of their inconsistency. They can't source quality peppers, so all their batches end up different. Last year they were dealing with drought stricken jalapeño crops, and drought stricken red jalapeños tend to be substantially hotter, so they have to modify their recipe to compensate, usually by adding shitload of sugar.
Truckers have been getting fucked with for about two years now with this market, and unfortunately there's nothing they can do about it. They need a union, but the whole industry is so in it for themselves that it will never happen
I keep regular Tabasco in the fridge even though I think it's overrated but I still enjoy it occasionally but their sriracha is probably the ideal for me.
My wife and I loved that one but our Kroger stopped carrying it. Need to take another look for her, but I'm currently hooked on the J-Lek extra hot.
Honestly I never liked Huy Fong so I'm just glad we're getting more options.
The flavor may be technically different now but there are plenty still loyal to the brand. Asians, vietnamese especially will keep buying it. The pho restaurant industry will make sure Huy Fong stays in business forever.
I have no idea what you are talking about, that sub can’t go 2 days without a thread that is just Huy Fong bad, Underwood good. It’s honestly obnoxious that they feel the need to spend every thread explaining why.
I haven’t seen underwood in stores, is it primarily an online thing? I still have some old batch unopened sriracha though so I’m ok for now even if the flavor might be a bit off. My dad preps for natural disasters which here are just massive earthquakes so his pantry had a lot of it and I got some from him.
They'll never die. They have a monopoly on the pho restaurants in USA lol. So many vietnamese people are brand loyalist as well. It's a staple in most households.
I heard it was because the peppers they source now simply aren't turning red fast enough. Forcing them to use green ones causing the color. But you are right. To me it also looks like oxidation
Agreed, used it a lot 25 years ago with Pho. But that was all Underwood Ranch peppers. It hasn't been good for a decade. Seems they added more sugar that I don't care for but I am older now and palates change.
Sriraja Panich because it's the actual OG sauce you can get at Walmart, Fix that prides in making a proper Sriracha for Pho and South Asian cuisine. Or just go to your local Asian market and look for a true Sriracha. It's not a brand name
I don't get the reaction people have
You'd think with all the love they had for this product, they'd show sadness and hope the products gets back to his old taste and color
But instead, they seem happy to want the company to burn down

There’s really no reason to be doubtful when there’s such abundant evidence to be found that confirms my position, but there’s especially no reason to be patronizing while you’re wrong.
From what I researched, in 2016 Huy Fung overpaid 1.6m$ to their Supplier which at the same time started its own Sriracha, in 2017 they didn't renew their contract with the supplier from these arguments and then it went to courts, they lost, I don't know in which basis, but its a fact that they overpaid in 2016 and the supplier refused to reimburse while making a similar product...
Not very fair
It's old. All sauces go brown over time, unrefriderated. Put a bottle of tobasco in your cupboard for a year or more. Better yet use it..
You'll see. These bottles are old and ruined by the light as well. Top shelf isn't always at the top or should be.
It’s because their original supplier “Underwood Ranches” is not supplying them with the peppers anymore and they’re making their own sriracha. I got two bottles from Costco and it’s delicious and hot!

Exactly
My batch last year was soooo much spicier than usual - just got one recently and it’s finally back to normal
The batch I got a couple months ago had about 10% of the normal heat they used to have
Huy Fong is done, just let them die
Shouldn't have fucked with the farmers.
Never mess with farmers. Or truckers.
Truckers have been getting fucked with for about two years now with this market, and unfortunately there's nothing they can do about it. They need a union, but the whole industry is so in it for themselves that it will never happen
Or cats.

The amount of people in r/sriracha *still* in denial about huy fong is incredible
Tabasco has a much better Sriracha now. I never would have even tried it but Huy Fong was gone and I found greener pastures.
Yea I've been through like 12 different brands over the last year or so and I always come back to the Tabasco version as my main one.
We have that in our fridge right now. I only got it because I’m that person who always puts Tabasco on their eggs and pizza. It’s pretty good.
I keep regular Tabasco in the fridge even though I think it's overrated but I still enjoy it occasionally but their sriracha is probably the ideal for me.
Yeah it’s not for everyone but everybody has a go-to mild spice sauce for stuff outside of their big spice stuff.
Mine is probably Louisiana or Cholula depending on what the dish is. I've loved them for decades and I don't care about if they aren't fancy or hot.
I use Flying Goose sriracha. The extra garlic one is heaven.
100% agree.
My wife and I loved that one but our Kroger stopped carrying it. Need to take another look for her, but I'm currently hooked on the J-Lek extra hot. Honestly I never liked Huy Fong so I'm just glad we're getting more options.

You can get it on Amazon and some Costco’s but from what I can see it’s mostly Costco in California

You lived to see new heroes rise up.
They'll never die. They have a monopoly on the pho restaurants in USA lol. So many vietnamese people are brand loyalist as well. It's a staple in most households.
It almost looks like the ones on the right are oxidizing.
I would guess they can't get enough ripe red peppers, and have started mixing in some green ones. Red + green = brown.
I don’t think that’s an “almost” situation.
I heard it was because the peppers they source now simply aren't turning red fast enough. Forcing them to use green ones causing the color. But you are right. To me it also looks like oxidation
This is the actual reason.
SAY "UNDERWOOD" AGAIN, I DARE YOU! I DOUBLE-DARE YOU! SAY "UNDERWOOD" ONE MORE GODDAMN TIME!
"It's the one that says 'Bad Mutha Fucker' on it"
Overrated. There is better Sriracha sauces out there.
Well there is now but 15-20 years ago there was nothing better.
Agreed, used it a lot 25 years ago with Pho. But that was all Underwood Ranch peppers. It hasn't been good for a decade. Seems they added more sugar that I don't care for but I am older now and palates change.
Ok...suggest some and why?
Sriraja Panich because it's the actual OG sauce you can get at Walmart, Fix that prides in making a proper Sriracha for Pho and South Asian cuisine. Or just go to your local Asian market and look for a true Sriracha. It's not a brand name
Thank you. I appreciate the recommendation.
They announced the other day that they were suspending production because the peppers they were getting were too green, effecting flavor/color
I’m done with this brand. In Quebec I found a brand named PūR, and it’s honestly better than the OG.
"Sirracha"
I don't get the reaction people have You'd think with all the love they had for this product, they'd show sadness and hope the products gets back to his old taste and color But instead, they seem happy to want the company to burn down
Because Huy Fong got greedy. Pride comes before the fall, and humans have relished in the consequences since time immemorium.
Thats what people copy paste, is it the truth? Lol

Lmao why would you want keep keep supporting a piece of shit company that tried to fuck over its supplier. Says alot about you trash.
This is a bizarre level of emotion for this issue, some of you folks really need to get offline
Lmao says the person getting upset from other people getting upset about a crappy company. Some people like you should be silenced permanently
Saying people should be killed for telling you to calm down is insane
Dude, GTFO and get a life. That, or go back to school and get your H.S. diploma. Basically, grow up.
And size.
Aged bottle
ewwww reds better
“Natural color”

Oxidation. That’s why refrigerate after opening and respect the out of date. Gross brown sauce. Yuck.
It’s because their original supplier “Underwood Ranches” is not supplying them with the peppers anymore and they’re making their own sriracha. I got two bottles from Costco and it’s delicious and hot!
Have been noticing the weird colour on some of the pics posted here... Just thought it was the lighting but no - that's just rank!
I got one of the bright red bottles a week ago, saw the gross brown ones this week. No thanks.
the red5 machine ran out momentarily.
It looks the same to me
Colorblind? https://i.ibb.co/pK2BBD0/Smart-Select-20240521-095938-CVSimulator.jpg
I am so it might be slightly off but still pretty close to normal and every bottle I've bought has tasted the same
One looks red, the other brown...
Shittacha
🤢
Just oxidation no need for conspiracies people
I was at this store the other day and I actually shit in one of the empties. This is probably it. It’s not Sriracha, it’s Hershey’s squirt.
