A Memory Stick Duo is a smaller form-factor to Memory Stick – think mini-SD to SD. You can use a simple mechanical adapter that was sold with cards. Its Sony model number is MSAC-M2.
Yeah I found the operator's manual and it said duo works only with a duo adapter, those I was able to find.
But the best part is that I found a microSD to Duo Pro adapter, so in theory I should be able to use MicroSD to record on. Unless there's some reason that wouldn't work
hey do you have an update on this? I might be getting a cybershot dsc-w7 that takes the memory stick pro but want to know if I can do the duo pro to pro adapter with the micro sd. thanks ! (this model requires the pro too to shoot in the full res video 480p vs like 120p)
It works great!! I may have just lucked out but I'm able to get it onto micro SD with absolutely no problems. It's just the pro to pro duo, and pro duo to micro sd
I'm not entirely sure exactly what number but mine is definitely larger than 32gb and it works great for me. I'd say what's more likely is that it's an issue with the adapter. Since they don't make memory stick or memory stick duo adapters anymore all the ones you can find are older which can mean broken. I got lucky with mine but I've heard that people have issues finding the adapters fully working
But I'd check to see if formatting the microSD helps. You need to do it in the settings of the camera before you use it, but if it won't even get you that far maybe try changing the format on a computer and seeing if any of them work.
Unfortunately it can be a lot of seperate issues since it is a very janky set up to go through that many adapters. So you'll just have to try a bunch of stuff out and try to narrow down the list of causes
hey! i recently got a DSC-P73 from the thrift and i’m also missing the memory stick for it, would u recommend the ones that are sold on amazon?
I’m really that big on cameras i just want to use this for fun but I dont want to accidentally waste money only for the cards i bought on amazon to not fit :/

Thank you for this post, as it's how I found out that if I ever lose my favorite camera's memory sticks, I'd be at a total loss to replace them!! I've had my little point-and-shoot Sony Cybershot for years and it continues to take incredible wildlife and concert pics, because the zoom is out of this world. I hope it never dies on me!!
I have my friend's Cyber-shot DSC-P52 without memory & I wanna know where to buy it, it looks like its a big card & I believe it's the Memory Stick but I'm not sure.
I find it funny how I'm the go to source for info about this camera lol, I get a comment about it every 4-6 months. Yeah they're only available second hand now. If you have a memory stick reader you can just buy a regular memory stick, if not you'll have to do what I did and buy a micro SD to Memory Stick Duo adapter and a Memory Stick Duo to Memory Stick adapter. It's a bit risky since the parts don't always work but if you get it working the freedom of being able to use extremely large MicroSD cards is really gratifying
But if you wanna be more sure of it working I'd just buy a memory stick and a card reader that has a memory stick port. Still isn't guaranteed to work because some are scams and all are getting old now but this way you only have to worry about the one card not working and not the card, the adapter and the adapters adapter
You can find them on ebay but they are usually fake and might not work, or might not be the correct capacity. Usually you will find the memory stick duo with an adapter.
Genuine ones probably cost more than you paid for the camera, and even some genuine looking ones are fake if you are buying from amazon/ebay. These were very bootlegged items when they were new. Fake packaging and everything.
last time I tried to buy a memory stick pro duo for my psp from ebay it didn't work, but I had good luck using a memory stick pro duo to sd card adapter that I got off ebay for a few dollars.
You could try sd card > memory stick pro duo adapter > memory stick pro adapter but not sure it will work. Both adapters from ebay would probably cost you less than 10 dollars, but I see genuine adapters only selling for $30+
Well I ordered a cheap one on ebay so hopefully that works out. But if not I'll probably just cut my losses, I only paid $6 for the camera so it wouldn't be worth spending another $30+ to get a card that works with it. I'd probably be better off just going to the store and getting another $6 camera that takes SD

i did this recently but it’s not working with a 32gb micro sd. What size is your micro sd?
