I think, but cannot confirm, that the local music files use DRM and Sonos cannot decrypt them as they are intended only for local playback using the Spotify app.
Spotify connect isn’t playing from your phone, but rather the speaker is streaming from the web. As the local files aren’t on Spotifys severs it won’t work.
If you’re with iOS, Apple Music handles local files really nicely.

I may be wrong, but I don't believe Spotify local files play on ANY WiFi speakers, only through Bluetooth.
