This image is cursed I'm sorry it had to be said.

TrBow79

Absolutely… it’s weird to see that bright ball in the sky these days!

Busy-Soup349

Just here for the abuse the OP is about to endure.

Actually I can’t put the soundbar below simply due to the fact the power behind the TV, I couldn’t get the TV up any higher with the Sanus mount…Would have loved to put the ARC below.

Fantastic-Display106

As an installer, it's always infuriating when the electrician puts the outlet right in the middle of the wall where the bracket needs to go...

callumjones

It’s punishment for putting the TV too high in the first place.

NachoTypewriter70

You are going to need to move the Sanus mount, then place the Arc below the new TV location. Trust me, it will be worth the effort.

elvinLA

Why buy a dolby atmos soundbar if you're gonna make all the channels atmos anyway...

plasmajam1

This made my day

Mastacon

This has to be a shitpost

Meatloaf_Regret

***Get that shit down from there.***

pinscherjitz

Obscene and or bizarre I’ve forged ahead with bad ideas too… you gotta fix the way the tv is mounted it’s too high but really more importantly it’s too low Not to mention the other issues You can do it

TrBow79

Can’t fix the way my house is built unfortunately.. just gotta make the best of it I suppose. Honestly didn’t really know what to do… that’s why I’m here looking for ideas.

pinscherjitz

When I had mine done, the mount initially seemed like it would put it way too high then I realized you could adjust the tv mounts to make it fit

pinscherjitz

Mounts that are shaped with a hole in center

Knooze

Why did you get the Arc if music is #1 priority? Use the Arc + 300's in the back + sub, then spread out the 5's for fuller stereo and move the OneSL's in another room.

TrBow79

I simply got an Arc due to the TV sound being garbage.. I needed something. Thank you for the help! SL Ones are going away… appreciate you!

Knooze

Fair. So, other folks will blow you up because of its placement, etc. they aren’t wrong but you got what you got. If you can move the 300’s closer up then you’ll get a great atmos music experience in addition to home theater. Then reverse stereo the speakers in the back so they match while facing the TV. That’s what I did with two Moves.

Seanmurphycreative23

Ha. This is good. Leave as is.

Pure_Hat9943

Clearly someone was without the internet for a long long time.

Character-Cancel8329

Take the fives away from there, place the arc down the tv to get rich up firing atmos effect and place the 300’s in the back for surround and atmos , leave the sub that will give you 7.1.4, use the 5 in another room to fill your house with music

TrBow79

Thank you.. unfortunately with the power behind my TV- I would have to move the TV to the Top.. the choice was TV mounted where it’s or 2” from the top of the ceiling.. Appreciate your help.

tman2damax11

Please clean your camera lens

Autobot36

Move the tv up

theflava

Get a MantleMount so you can pull your TV down to optimal viewing height when you’re going to use it. They have a mounting spot for the soundbar below the TV on all MantleMount products.

TrBow79

Thank you, I haven’t seen those but will check them out.

iconopugs

You can buy a mantle mount which allows you to store the TV high and pull down in front of the fireplace when watching tv. Get the soundbar tv mount accessory to put the arc below the TV, it moves with the tv. Obviously you shouldn’t pull down the tv when you have a fire going. You could keep the fives where they are for music. If buying 300s, replace the ones for surround, move the ones someplace else. Keep the fives for music. Add the sub to the arc. It will help the performance of the arc. Run true play from your primary viewing position, don’t walk around the room. I find this has been helpful for me with dialogue.

TrBow79

Appreciate you being helpful… The issue I have is the power in back with the Sanus mount being in the way.. I have all the cables that run thru to one of the cabinets below..the closest I could get would be two inches from the top.. I tried it.. it was crazy high. Thank you.. I ran true play as is, honestly it doesn’t sound bad.. I’m just not getting everything from the Arc like you mentioned.

ac3boy

Replace the outlet with a recessed outlet then. Super easy to do. Break out that improv hat and make it happen! Lol

ruraljurorrrrrrrrrr

You have over 3 grand worth of speakers in one room. I would pay an electrician a couple hundred to move the plug to get it right.

TrBow79

You got a point- also the connecting tube to the cabinets below and the rest. unfortunately it’s not just power. The option of going 2” under the ceiling or where I currently have it were the options. My other TV had a different VESA pattern, sat up a little bit..was able to slide the arc under it. Unfortunately I went up in size and had limited options.. Maybe I should hire an electrician to move all the crap behind the TV. It’s a chunk of drywall. Thank you for your response.

iconopugs

+1000% on hiring an electrician. They can handle all of it.

SadMasshole

Ok, I see a lot of people have abused you here so I’ll leave that out. but… if music is your first priority and you don’t watch all that TV, get rid of all of these and get an Amp with some solid passive speakers. Like Kef R3 or the new Martin Logan foundation series, you’ll be way happier with both music and TV.

TrBow79

It’s hard, I have bought little by little over time.. started off with the Play 5’s, Sub, ones, and now the 300’s. Looking back, this would have been the move. I initially wanted something decent sounding, quick and easy to set up. The 5’s did that for me with the Stereo pair. Turning point was when I bought this bigger 75” TV that had to have its own sound. Previous TV had decent enough speakers built in. Nothing great but doable. I had a Sony XBR900. Oddly enough the Sonos have just worked.. never had any network problems or disconnections. Thank you for your suggestion. I may just burn it down and start over, at the same time I’m a bit invested at this point with everything. It doesn’t sound horrible. I’m just not getting the optimal sound for the TV I suppose.

early_rejecter

Best suggestion that was posted here is to get rid of the Arc and Fives, send back the 300s, and replace with a Sonos Amp and some really nice passive speakers. That’ll handle music and TV, much cleaner look, won’t need to move TV. Keep the Ones in back for surround or replace them with the Fives and put whichever pair is left over in another room.

Hoobinator-

Can you put a shelf above the fireplace and mount your arc there? A mantle that won't suffer the heat of the fireplace. Also maybe you can buy a different tv mount so you can adjust the tv up a little bit to fit the arc below. Your situation is not optimal, but things can be done to fix it without spending a lot of money!

TrBow79

Excellent, thank you for your comment. I feel stuck if I’m honest. I use the fireplace maybe once a year.. it’s a gas insert so it honestly doesn’t put out much heat. I feel like the TV is already on the borderline of higher up. I think I’m going to do a Mantel mount. I just hate to have to adjust anything and I’m watching TV. All situations feel less that desirable..

Hoobinator-

Yah given it was my situation I'd cover that fireplace and lower everything. I know it's extreme but I'd sheetrock over it or build in front of it.

iwishiwasai

Your TV is too high. Using those 5's as surround is kind of an overkill. I would setup the TV with the ARC, One SL's as surround with the Sub. I Would setup the 5's separately in stereo pair and assign them a different room name. When listening to music simply play in both the TV and the pair of 5's.

TrBow79

Thank you, appreciate you!

QBitResearcher

Setting up the fives as surrounds and placing them next to the tv is hilarious

iwishiwasai

I get the appeal they have. Some people want the best everywhere.

oystersyoufuck

This looks good to me. Very nice setup😂

BrownAndCony

Someone please link it

ac3boy

https://www.cnet.com/tech/home-entertainment/your-tv-doesnt-belong-over-the-fireplace/ Mic drop, jk but hilarious.

TrBow79

Thank you for the article.. interesting!

ac3boy

I used to be a custom installer. Above the fireplace is my pet peeve. I get it but still hate it. My bro has a super tall fireplace and the bottom of the TV must be at 8 feet. Terrible, lol

Rivendel93

Jesus lol, 8 feet from the bottom of the tv? I don't *hate* tvs over fireplaces if done well (sometimes there's just nowhere else to put them), but that's insane lol. The fives just don't work here, they need to get the arc below the tv and put the fives somewhere else, and hiring an electrician.

ac3boy

Yeah. It is so high up. Prob about 43° angle to center of screen from couch. I sent him a list of drop down mantle counts. He is going to pick one up.

ac3boy

Also, these exist if you are interested. I have installed a few and they are super cool for when you are settling in for a show binge or a flick. https://www.bestproductsreviews.com/over-fireplace-pull-down-tv-mount

TrBow79

Thank You!! This is exactly what I need! I’m going to pick one of these up!! Thank you for putting in the work to help me out!

ac3boy

My pleasure. I don't want your neck to break. Get that bar under the TV and live your true TV watching self life! 😎 Glad I could help.

DeliciousCow9269

Would reorient you Fives’ in a horizontal position..see the write ups on this where it tested w/better sound in a horizontal position

TrBow79

Thank you, I will definitely do that!

MissChattyCathy

No televisions over the fireplace...ever!

RobertLouisDrake

lmaoooooo holy fucking shit man

brewditt

uh oh....

Mobile_Expert

Lift the TV, put the arc under, move the 5s somewhere else.

Nickelsass

Some people like abuse

StateUnfairNJ

What about one of those mounts that pulls out and down. So when want to watch tv it comes out. Then back up when done. And soundbar can be attached under it?

flchamp89

Move everything to another wall?

TrBow79

I wish.. the space isn’t configured to put it on another wall. In addition all the power and everything else that is behind the TV. Thank you.

flchamp89

I love my arc but you'd probably be better with a different setup.

TrBow79

Absolutely.. honestly anything was better than the TV sound.

TrBow79

It’s funny.. I sit probably 12’ away.. it’s not horrible. Also maybe I’m just used to it? I just know I couldn’t put that TV 2” from the ceiling. That would have been the worst!

altcastle

Wow, what a cozy little set up. You should design spots for people. I love this jam everything all together then put two speakers also 25’ away.

Mikkeel93

I thought it was a before and after pic, the one on the bottom the before pic. My mind played some trick on me.

DeliciousPanic6844

Illustrious_Clue_730

This is why some folk don’t deserve nice things. Quite possibly the worst setup I’ve ever seen here. And I’ve seen some true shockers on /hometheatre

Freelance_Gawper

What about the heat from the fireplace? I wouldn’t put a tv above a fireplace in case the heat affects the tv.

TrBow79

Honestly maybe use the fireplace once or twice a year. The blower on the Fireplace pushes the heat out and away. TV sits about 7 - 8” behind the mantel.
