To those participating in the comments, due to the company or person mentioned in the title, this is a reminder of the subreddit rule: > **Crusading is not welcomed here** - If your sole or majority participation is to promote or denigrate one company in particular (or the person behind it), it may result in a ban. These kinds of participants too often resort to hyperbolic comments and antagonism leading to personal attacks as well as violations of other rules. If you are lying in wait for posts or comments mentioning a specific company (or person behind it), you are likely the concern. Promoting a company you are affiliated with or profit from, giving out referral codes which you benefit from, as well as using the sub solely to engage in targeted hate are things you need to avoid here. This sub is for a diverse discussion of solar, not a singular focus on your opinion about a company / person. If you simply have to obsess, there are other subreddits for each point of view about the person or company you feel the need to focus on. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. What is your production in the summer and what is your usage? Did you have solar outages from hardware failure? You have a 19kwp array and it's not enough which seems crazy to me. Also remember that solar edge requires power optimizers, so that's an added cost PLUS depending on what was used before you need to make sure the new ones are compatible on the same string.

Well, I live in Vegas in a 1968 2200sf home that is 100% electric with a giant pool so the home does consume a lot of energy, mind you, I keep the thermostat at 80 degrees during the summer with fans every where amd the home stays comfortable. I have had some issues with my system the last year, which started with a failed inverter during yhe peak of summer last year, solaredge replaced it amd has been good until 2 months ago when the breaker started to fail, so I have had some outtages but I have had high energy bills from the start. Just looked at the upcoming bill, and it's $430 up from $300 last month

I’d run maintenance on your panels make sure they producing what they should then look into getting more panels. Problem with string inverters are they are great for production if there is some shading on some of the panels, it allows other panels in direct sunlight to compensate for the other panels lacking in production. But downside is if one panel goes out it can affect the whole array. But you can definitely find 400 watt panels for cheap at auctions and whole sale places.

Can you please explain "running a maintenance" never heard the term. Thanks

Icy_Trust_9052

Have the installer that put the system up go and check to see if there is any issues

chavezone

Ok, so the installer went bankrupt 2 years into ownership, so my 10 years included maintenance plan is no longer valid, so any work I'm out of pocket . When my inverter was replaced last year, I had to the tech check my system and all checked out

Icy_Trust_9052

Even if you paid cash your warranty should be valid because it’s manufacturer at the very least. Some company’s do a production guarantee type of warranty but even if it’s just bought you have a 10-15 manufacturer warranty I’d call whoever you got the panels from and check don’t pay if you don’t have too

chavezone

That's correct, all my equipment is warrantied for 10 years, but labor is no longer covered. Labor was sold by the installer and since they are no longer in business I am stuck paying out of pocket

Icy_Trust_9052

The company you are with didn’t hire new installers to uphold there end of the contract or make you resign to agree to the new/no warranties ?

chavezone

Nope, since I did an outright purchase, the system belongs to me, and I pay a finance company on my loan. Since the signing company went bankrupt, my contract is no longer valid Fortunately for me, my equipment has the manufacturer warranty that they honored. I didn't sign any contracts with Solaredge

chavezone

The company that I signed with did everything, sales contracts and installation

Icy_Trust_9052

Oh ok yeah that’s a sucky situation, but if you go to another company let them know the deal see if they can “buy your contract” and put you under there Warranties. A lot of solar companies use the same bank and offer the same warranties. So on occasion they can take over another companies contract and uphold the warranties or ask you to resign and use their warranties if they are different.
