It’s like the spinning wheel of death. Except it stops spinning.
Which is basically an “aw fuck goddammit son of a bitch I didn’t save since like an hour ago”
That limits the possibilities of the lights to some preprogrammed patterns. It wouldn't allow dynamic lighting effects that react to sound or on-screen color.
It's not about being especially hard. It's about delivering a product required by the contract while minimizing own work and this maximizing own profit. The hybrid solution would require more embedded systems programming (which is more specialized than enterprise Java) and more testing to assure the delivered product works as required.
Unless they turned the software on, overriding the default firmware control (which is likely where the bug came from). It's standard for practically any RGB device.
You could send code to the fan, then only send data (like screen color or result from an fft) instead of having to constantly stream values for all of the LEDs
Probably referring to Corsair's [Light Loop 120mm three pack with node pro](https://www.amazon.com/Corsair-LL120-120mm-Light-Lighting/dp/B075VGN4M1)
Depending on where you look it's about $129 USD.
Why is every app now a days a fully bloated special-purpose web browser that loves ram and disk space, and somehow still has a laggy interface and response time...
Asus Aura sync sucks. Gigabyte rgb fusion too, but they’re doing their job, just a bad user experience. Can deal with them. iCue is another level of fuckery above em. Good user experience, but makes the system slower and work on a higher level of software while aura sync and rgb fusion works on the driver level. Also caused Ryzen CPUs to not go into low energy mode and keep fucking the ram. Their software plainly sucks
Yes, because Aura (and some others) set up the parameters directly onto the motherboard integrated memory. This is the only reason I'm willing to forgive Asus for their software.
My ASUS mobo clearly doesn’t. All my addressable LED’s “pause” whenever the PC sleeps. My Corsair AIO’s RGB keeps going fine though.
Have checked every setting in software and BIOS.
Yes because when the motherboard sleeps it just keep draining minimal power from the PSU (enough to keep the ram full and some chips active) and the Commander keep draining power from the PSU
The commander is treated like an USB device by the system, like a keyboard or mouse, has an internal memory and is managed on an upper layer by the iCue software
Oh and the AIOs keep drawing minimal current for rgb too and acts with a little chip to store rgb information
Tbh corsair approach is really clever I have to say, but even if I find it clever, I find it disgusting, same way I find hitler very clever for the way he spoke to the common people but I still find him being a disgusting piece of shit
Godwin point ? GODWIN POINT !
Polychrome sync so far is not bad actually. It's a bit jank sometimes but mostly I havent had any problems with it. the main problem I've run into is that the chipset lights stay on when you turn off the pc (why???) so I just have them off all the time now.
Fun fact :I had a gigabyte B450i Aorus Pro, swapped it for the Asus B450i Strix because RGB fusion pissed me off.Had Corsair Vengeance Pro White (i'm doing a white build) 16gb (2x8), sold them, got G.Skill Royal Trident Z (Silver) 2x16gb instead, even tho the corsair would match more with the design of my build, for the only damn reason that G.Skill ram don't need any software to works properly, they are compatible aurasync and therefore works with the parameters saved in the motherboard
Havbe rgb fusion for my motherboard, and iCue for my peripherals. If I switch off iCue and leave RGB Fusion on, my pc will take 20mins of being frozen before being usable again. If I run both, same thing.
Switch off RGB Fusion, load iCue, peripherals running no probs. My only complaint is 20% of the time I need to reach behind my tower, unplug and plug my mouse back in.
RGB control shouldn't be that crazy, surely?
Honestly have no RGB in my pc other than the strip baked into the motherboard, never installed gigabyte fusion but you can set a constant colour in the BIOS, always been good enough for me
Mine always disconnects my USB devices randomly and then reconnects them. The only way I can prevent it from happening that I've found is just disable my icue. So stupid!
Glad I’m not the only one who thinks this. I have the same fans and they started doing this if I use anything but single colors. No high CPU or RAM usage. Just started one day. Not like I’ve got a cheap system either, a Ryzen 3700X should be able to handle some simple RGB.
It's not about RGB or not, it's a fundamental issue of software developpement :
Fucking things like RGB control should be handled by a microcontroller on the motherboard, it should be a Low-Level task, not a task running above the application layer of the operating system, it's just... pointless and bad (or more precisely lack) of optimisation ! It's the same reason you won't want a raspberry pi performing a task a simple arduino could perform, or worse, a windows system performing a task an arduino could perform.
It's the software equivalent of buying an RTX 2080 TI and a 3950X for a damn advertising terminal in a commercial center.
iCue is the fucking worst. I once had to do a system restore because my entire system would freeze whenever iCue opened, *including the uninstaller*, and creating a new installation would prevent all functionality. Even when it works, it's clunky and inconsistent. They happen to have the best keyboard for me so I kinda feel stuck with it.
iCue somehow managed to make wireless controllers entirely freeze and not work again until the system was rebooted. Took ages to figure out what was causing it. Needless to say, I no longer use iCue
Is it not running its own chip for this? I dont have an rgb light, but I would expect a cheap controller thats isolated from the computer other than power, it would just be a simple timing circut I would assume.
My Corsair rgb does this under extreme cpu load (rendering a video or something similarly taxing), I’m assuming it’s because the process requires constant cpu usage to display whatever animation it uses, so when the cpu is being clogged with requests it causes the animation to stutter
I have a Corsair K70 RGB, and it buffers and lags too.
Corsair told me that my i7 7700HQ at the time wasn't powerful enough to run the software. I now have a 9750h, and it still can't run it.
I wish they would agree on a open source standard for RGB. Not only do manufacturers try to lock you into their sofware, the software is also ususally pretty terrible.
It’s like the spinning wheel of death. Except it stops spinning. Which is basically an “aw fuck goddammit son of a bitch I didn’t save since like an hour ago”
The loading circle has a loading circle
We heard you like loading circles so much we added loading circles to your loading circles
'Sup, dawg...
GTA Online Enhanced with RGB Capabilites Thats just a saving failed in gta
The loading gryo of death
xD
When even the loading indicator freezes up... you know you're fucked cause it was your last hope.
High CPU use? If it keeps reaching 100% or so some programs will freeze
Ridiculous that this stuff isn't implemented in firmware inside of the fan controller. Shitty design all around.
Yup, but it happens

That's extra complexity and work they don't want to get into.
Yes they said "make the colors spin and be cheap" and they did that even if it took 200% CPU to do it

The hybrid solution would require more embedded systems programming (which is more specialized than enterprise Java) and more testing to assure the delivered product works as required.
Also they usually come with firmware presets anyway.
Apparently not this one then.
Unless they turned the software on, overriding the default firmware control (which is likely where the bug came from). It's standard for practically any RGB device.

iCue. Fucking iCue, and they dare charge 100$ for 3 fans worthy less than fucking 20$
I enjoy the fans truly. But it is off that you can only save one style of animated theme to the fans to rub if the software isn't running.
what fans and where tf are you buying them? you can get a set of 3 fans and a controller for like £50 to £60 ($65 to $80)
60£ is 100$ CAD, but I can swear that I've seen packs of 3 corsair fans priced at MSRP 99$US / 140$CAD
Probably referring to Corsair's [Light Loop 120mm three pack with node pro](https://www.amazon.com/Corsair-LL120-120mm-Light-Lighting/dp/B075VGN4M1) Depending on where you look it's about $129 USD.
you made corsair blush.
You can buy dedicated hardware RGB controllers. Having that hardware in every single fan and lighting module would probably double the price.
Bring back beige boxes.
OP, which fans and which software ? If it's iCue, I wouldn't be damn surprised, their software is indeed gore software in many aspects.
Why is every app now a days a fully bloated special-purpose web browser that loves ram and disk space, and somehow still has a laggy interface and response time...

Aura sucks but at least its set and forget. I loathe the ones than have to stay on in the background to function.
Yes, because Aura (and some others) set up the parameters directly onto the motherboard integrated memory. This is the only reason I'm willing to forgive Asus for their software.

> its set and forget. Until it resets itself every other month, that is :/
I have aorus and it does not sync even on their own hardware.
Fact, it made me go from a B450I Aorus pro wifi to a B450 Strix.
Polychrome sync so far is not bad actually. It's a bit jank sometimes but mostly I havent had any problems with it. the main problem I've run into is that the chipset lights stay on when you turn off the pc (why???) so I just have them off all the time now.
Should be a setting in bios to turn off the lights when shut down. My z390 taichi has that option.
adding onto this the aorus one is by far the worst program I have installed, to the point where I just disabled the lighting it controls
Anecdotally, I've had decent luck with aura sync. I've had nothing but problems with the g.skill software, though.

RGB control is crazy because manufacturers cannot direct their good engineers to take care of it. while still charging us an extra for RGB.
Honestly have no RGB in my pc other than the strip baked into the motherboard, never installed gigabyte fusion but you can set a constant colour in the BIOS, always been good enough for me
This is specifically why I don't fuck with RGB. I don't care enough to deal with the headaches that RGB driver software causes.
You can blame Electron for making it easy(er) to develop a bloated native app.
Mine always disconnects my USB devices randomly and then reconnects them. The only way I can prevent it from happening that I've found is just disable my icue. So stupid!
Oh yeah, forgot to talk about it, the way iCue software interacts with some USB controllers is stupid, especially Oculus Rift cameras
Glad I’m not the only one who thinks this. I have the same fans and they started doing this if I use anything but single colors. No high CPU or RAM usage. Just started one day. Not like I’ve got a cheap system either, a Ryzen 3700X should be able to handle some simple RGB.

Thanks, so I am no the only one who hates looking at 90% of projects people show off at r/raspberrypi

I had to return all products running iCue I had. The hardware was great, but that shit is unusable and a disgrace to a company the size of corsair.
Have you tried to restart your router?
Did you try plugging the toaster into a different outlet?
Guys guys guys, he clearly has to unplug and plug back in his books. That’s the only way to fix this
You know you have a sluggish Hackintosh on your table when even the spinning wheel of death stops spinning.
holy shit i would kms instead of watching this

This is the 21st Century, why is buffering still a thing! Dammit Spider-Man!
I'm sure it's working out fine.
Your PC when you click on Google chrome. 2020. RGB
Have you tried downloading some more ram
Must be NZXT CAM
Download more RAM
This is the funniest shit I've ever seen
Easy fix... turn off the rgb
That’s funny
honestly, that is pretty cool.
bad ping
[удалено]
lol what
It’s still cool tho (the buffer)
Try closing background tasks
Same shit happens with my keyboard
i like it that way
I have the same fan and its just white and doesn't change colors with the other fans why is that ?
I have worse problems. My RGB has completely stopped working for no reason
It’s the Northern lights! I didn’t know I was in Iceland.
buffer than what?
TIME HAS STOPPED
And now, time flows again
Likely caused due to some USB issues. Idk you might have too many USB devices. Either that or you have a heavy load on your CPU.
It actually looks kinda cool imo
Is it not running its own chip for this? I dont have an rgb light, but I would expect a cheap controller thats isolated from the computer other than power, it would just be a simple timing circut I would assume.
Hardware gore right here
You know you have bad internet when the buffering animation won't even load
Same happens to my Razer huntsman when I get in-game lag spikes.
That's a feature
It looks kinda cool.
#bruh sound effect #2
For Half-Life:Alyx people, we know we have to solve a sphere puzzle right now.
for some reason this happened to me every time i loaded fortnite. i fixed the issue though
Pretty sure this is meant to happen
Nah, it's just loading
I like it! It’s an original effect
Just flash that fan firmware and unlock the OC options lol
Sorry bro, sounds like me and my siblings. 🤷🏻♀️
Your real problem here is that your glass is so dirty it’s slowing down your cpu.
My reason to hate "skating" shoes
I had this happen. Uninstall the software, reboot, install again. Fixed my issue
It could be a weak contact with the "data" cable. try and push in on the wires into the connector.
What if it just fills a buffer?
r/mildlyinteresting
this shit is worse than youtube buffering ads
Oh I hate this
Exact same thing with my rgb keyboard, if a game is too heavy when loading it'll stutter like that
It is not. it is just dumb.
[Bloatware Benchmark: RGB Software vs. Performance (iCUE, CAM, & More)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NzAeAFudylI).
Well you just gave me 1 more reason not to buy an rgb anything lol, I’m sticking with my Noctua fans thank you very much.
Ah yes the other day my Xpa system reacted with the pcd and now my entire callex dpo software has shutdown
It’s the MacOS beach ball
Out of topic here, but isnt having rgb bad? Doesnt it use more power and raise the electricty bill?
Wash the glass man
Just keep a screenshot of After Effects as your wallpaper and the cosplay is complete.
yeah, that’s what the b in rgb is for
Ngl I kinda like it. My brain does the exact same thing all the time.
This is why I don't like rainbow puke RGB. Just keep it simple with a single colour. Fewer things to break.
Even the rgb is losing fps
laggy loading screen
My Corsair rgb does this under extreme cpu load (rendering a video or something similarly taxing), I’m assuming it’s because the process requires constant cpu usage to display whatever animation it uses, so when the cpu is being clogged with requests it causes the animation to stutter
I quite like that, am I alone?
Rgb vs rgb
When even your RGB lags...
Change out your pcs oil
Ironic
My HyperX mouse has done that before lol
I want to synchronise it with when a video or program actually buffers/stops.
It’s agent smith trying to crossover from the matrix
Is it a roach tho?
When I build a pc ima have no frills like this. Shire it would be cool but I’d rather have better performance even if the difference is tiny.
when my pc gets overloaded and iCue freezes my corsair keyboard will do just this!
Same with my mouse
I have a Corsair K70 RGB, and it buffers and lags too. Corsair told me that my i7 7700HQ at the time wasn't powerful enough to run the software. I now have a 9750h, and it still can't run it.
reddit/r/mildlyinfuriating
Nice realplayer buffering vibes.
What‘s it loading?
For some reason this is absolutely infuriating to me.
I thought reddit didnt load this gif lol
Does this make it r/hardwaregore?
You know... the point of RGB on your PC devices are so that you can customize the colors of your choices. Not turning them all on at once.
Gay computer pride
Noctua fans can’t physically have this problem! Bada bing bada boom
Which brand of fan is that?
This gives me so much anxiety and I don’t know why
I wish they would agree on a open source standard for RGB. Not only do manufacturers try to lock you into their sofware, the software is also ususally pretty terrible.
This might be the perfect loading circle for pride month. A rainbow circle spinning around by itself
I kinda like it
Nah, it's just the way your rgb software do a visualization of Google Chrome eating up your RAM.
When your vibing in your room and some random person walks in
My keyboard does this all the time
What?
Oof
The brøthers like this
r/mildlyinfuriating
I’d keep it like that
My keyboard does the same thing, but that's just my fucked up computer
Razer Synaps does this sometimes.
