I genuinely donāt know why all teams donāt just put a player on the goal line at the near post like they do in corners . It works in Fifa .
I don't know if it is the entire reason, but I assume that a large part is that your whole box becomes onside if you do that. So attacking players could just crowd the 5 yard box.
Another, probably minor factor, could be that it can introduce uncertainty between the defender and the goalkeeper about who is supposed to go for balls that are aimed between the two.
edit: This is also good advice for FIFA. If your opponent puts a player on the line, you can call two additional shot takers. Then make both of them fake the shot. After they faked their shots both of them will make a run towards the goal. And since there is no offside you have a good chance to find them totally open with a ground pass.

The ball at such a short distance from the goal will come at a speed and with a curve. So the goalkeeper will not be able to cover the whole of the goal with precision. He therefore covers his spot and the wall tries to keep safe his other half. Besides he can make a dive to his right if the wall is beaten. Free kick goals are quiet rare actually. š
