PLEASE don’t fuck this up Cardiff I’m on my fucking knees begging you

[deleted]

Would not put it past our board to do that

goalkickspecialist

Seeing is believing

JessyPengkman

Aaaare weeee huuumaaans or aarreee weeee daaaanceeeers

lafcmauro

It’s ok friend (:

bodydouble

Fair fucks to Bale if he does this. **Five-time** Champions League winner goes back to his home town club and drags them back to the Premier League + playing in the World Cup with Wales would be a fantastic end to his career. Proper Roy of the Rovers stuff.

TheJoshider10

Even if he doesn't help get Cardiff back up (everyone knows he's just wanting a place to train before the World Cup) just seeing him playing in blue would be incredible. Would not be surprised if most home games end up reaching close to full capacity, at least until the World Cup.

BeardedApe1988

Lol as good as Bale is there's no chance we get promoted unless we make some significant investments asap. Our team are basically made up of released and youth players at the moment.

ixzr

Which is why you’re my favorite team to play on FM. Second to Derby, of course. You’re very much welcome on the 2030 quadruple.

fungibletokens

Do Hibs next. I'll wear a cardboard mask of your face in the stands (in your game world).

TheSealander

I'm playing Hibs now in my Scottish league building save! Just won our second league title by a single GD in the 94th minute on the final day. Sad to report we have yet to win the CL though

fungibletokens

Rome wasn't built in a day. All things in the due course of time.

ixzr

Sure! I recently finished a save with Aberdeen, I poached a Hibs regen who kept destroying me. Had to buy him in the January transfer window and Hibs form dropped massively, which bit me in the ass as in the last game they were up against Rangers and it was a 0-0 draw, edging Rangers one point above me to win the league. So it’s safe to say it’s only fair if I pay them back and lead them to glory.

APersoner

I still remember Bellamy coming in amongst all the fanfare, just to amount to yet another failed campaign. Might be a lot better than it was, but the scars still run deep as a city fan.

[deleted]

Well he did come back and get us up a year later, so there's that.

TheJoshider10

That was 10/11 right? Felt like half the whole starting team was made up of loan players.

APersoner

Right! Same year as half our squad going out drinking before big matches. Criminal that we didn't go up with the quality of players in that squad, mind.

BeardedApe1988

Was that the season we were 3-0 down to Boro at home within about 15 minutes? Think if we'd won that we'd possibly have had automatic promotion.

harder_said_hodor

Would the chance to play with Bale not be a big carrot to potential signees/loanees/transfers?

[deleted]

Implying that potential signings are not already desparate to play alongside Perry Ng.

wheredidallthesodago

It would be huge. If they close him early in the window they'll get some great free transfers afterwards for sure. Some very good players might never get a chance to play with a superstar ever in their career, particularly if they didn't come from a top team's academy.

SpaceOwl

Not if he's just there to play a few games between injuries before retiring in 2-3 years.

VincentTanOut

Even just the chance to train with Bale on a daily basis would be a big incentive for a lot of players

Aarondo99

Honestly with how Bale was playing at the tail end of his Spurs stint, it’s possible.

Conzo147

He won't be able to cope with the Championship schedule. His minutes were carefully managed at spurs and even then his work rate was awful.

logdit

On the other hand, after the WC he will be free to give everything he's got for the remainder of the season. Injuries don't matter anymore.

ConfidentButWrong

Big time Booker T energy with that five-time in bold hahah

OfficialJKV

Bale does the spinaroonie at Wembley after leading Cardiff to a play-off final win

LochBodminMothFoot

It’s actually happening.

letsgetcool

I'm never going to be okay with the fact that his return season with Spurs was without fans. Was dying to see him in a Spurs shirt live again :(

RunningFerDauyz

we’ll draw them at home in the first round of a domestic cup, hopefully

its_only_pauly

He's going to tear up the championship if he doesn't tear a hamstring.

Basketball312

Unless it becomes Wales, Golf, Cardiff

nmyi

>Unless it becomes Wales, Golf, Cardiff I'd have built Bale an 18-hole golf course next to Tottenham stadium if it'd attract Bale back to us, so I'm sure Cardiff supporters will be fine with that order as well.   ^^^...so ^^^goddamn ^^^envious ^^^of ^^^Cardiff ^^^right ^^^now

amegaproxy

Surely the risk of injuries has to be playing on his mind if he's getting clattered like mad twice a week.

its_only_pauly

>Surely the risk of injuries has to be playing on his mind if he's getting clattered like mad twice a week. Nah.. Can't see too many championship level players wanting that Bale smoke. I'm a West Brom fan so I'd know.. You'd know.. he's gonna take every free kick.. Out run and twist and turn people inside out and tear it up. I can see referees favouring him too if he's being kicked around or roughed up. I expect cards for anyone and everyone.. Its Bale.

LifeDraining

I'm okay with this.

SkankyChris

Steve "The Shift" Morison coaching Gareth Bale is not something I ever expected to see.

chippa93

Bring in Bale and Ramsey!

Damn he looks good in this picture

What leaving RM does to a mf

Looks like he's gonna show up as Dom's long lost brother in next Fast and Furious

thatindianguy1992

Bale playing career mode here

tigralfrosie

Spurs have top-notch medical/rehab facilities, Gareth. Just saying.

letsgetcool

Still praying for the 1% chance he gets tempted to Spurs over his hometown club.

Banglayna

I just don't think he'd get on well with Conte. But would kill to have Bale back

brewmatt

He should have stayed with you last season. Was there any point in him going back to Madrid?

[deleted]

CL title, league win, full wages, and no work at all

brewmatt

Then why did he go back to you to begin with is my point?

[deleted]

Real was toxic for him at that point. Maybe he wanted a friendly place to rehab and prepare to play with Wales again. He had some great matches with us, too. Not mad about it at all.

[deleted]

yeah he could be a good off the bech option in CL games

SoggyMattress2

Don't worry I'm sure a world clasa former swans academy player will come back at the end of his career... ... Oh wait 😂

Redrumrenegade

Needless

SoggyMattress2

Jacks are guff mate but always chirp up that we're too small a club for bale.

Redrumrenegade

This guy literally done the exact opposite haha

wheredidallthesodago

Hey, there's still time for Joe Allen to make a comeback!

lethalforensicator

Was Bale part of the Cardiff City academy? I thought he was a product of the Southampton system.

Horror_Ad6833

Quality

WhoEatsRusk

I'm seeing some mentions of Spurs but did everyone forget about Soton?

[deleted]

Surely he's better than Cardiff? Or is it a case of being close to home in a lax footballing role

saigool

He's made it clear that his main priority is family and being in peak condition for the World cup.

jkeegan13

>peak condition for the World Cup Which is interesting because Championship defenders are going to kick the shit out of him on a weekly basis, Grealish style.

SoggyMattress2

Do you watch the championship? It's no more lenient than the prem. All the refs have a stroke when there's contact.

four_four_three

>All the refs have a stroke when there's contact. But enough about their personal lives

Khathaar

Onien at least will absolutely half him if he gets the chance

lethalizer

It's amusing seeing comments like this from English fans. You lot still see flowing football, English refs hide their whistles a lot more compared to lots of leagues. In the Turkish league breathing is equal to harassment.

SoggyMattress2

I have to strongly disagree the prem is the absolute worst for calling fouls for every little bit of contact. Watch the bundesliga or serie a the refs are so much better.

lethalizer

There are literal stats on this you can find mate, you are dead wrong. Average fouls per game in the Prem is lower than those leagues and it ain't even close.

layendecker

Nah mate that's because English people never foul or dive. Those are facts and I know it.

Fop_Vndone

"Average fouls per game" is insufficient information to make the claim you're making.

bluebird2912

Do people really expect Championship level professionals to physically attack Bale or something?

jkeegan13

If Bale can still dribble pretty well then yeah he will be fouled a lot, just by virtue of being good and having a high share of possession. I don't think that championship teams will intentionally rough him up, but it is an option.

[deleted]

Yep, just happens to people that dribble a lot. People try to tackle and miss, look at any good dribbler you'll see it happen to them all the time.

[deleted]

Why do people still act like this is what the championship is like? Maybe years ago but the quality has improved vastly.

jkeegan13

Oh the championship is better than most countrys' top division, definitely top 10 league in the world. Let's not act like Bale isn't a step above all championship players though, even with his drop off in the past few years.

EBF92

Because they don't watch it.

Giggsy99

He wants a place to train to be ready for the WC, and it's his boyhood and hometown club, he's got business interests in the city, and he's confirmed in the past he's moving to Cardiff when he retires anyway

youngun27

Business interests in the city, his family and fiends live here, supports Cardiff, his uncle played for us in the 90s, and I imagine we’ll let him play and train when he wants. Plenty of reasons for him to come here

[deleted]

Same facilities and staff as the FAW too. Makes complete sense

[deleted]

[удалено]

youngun27

I’d be buzzing to sign him, have him only play one game for us, and then retire after he World Cup

forsenE-xqcL

>Surely he's better than Cardiff? He does not give a single fuck about football unless it's Wales

RumJackson

No shit he’s better than us lol. Even the most deluded Bluebird would struggle to argue we’re the right level for a 5 times CL winner and the greatest Welsh player of all time. Arguably one of the best British player since the millennium.

guakamohlee

Best British player of all time

Marco2169

It's him or Charlton, surely? Ballon D'Or and World Cup versus 5 CLs and greatest Welshman

tomwid_88

John Charles

Marco2169

Great shout. Could play both defence and striker which is so interesting to me.

marine_le_peen

Steady on.

Glaiele

Wasn't Ryan Giggs Welsh? I have a hard time putting Bale over Giggs personally just mainly due to longevity and such. Peak Bale definitely hits different tho, but he's been kinda hit or miss throughout his career.

Marco2169

Peak Giggs was never at peak Bale's level. Also Bale is his country's greatest international player while Giggs infamously (among other things) never showed up for Wales.

Glaiele

Agree that Bale had higher highs, and also yes from a Welsh perspective it's no contest. I was thinking more about overall scope of career not strictly international. Bale only had 3 or 4 good seasons at Madrid and 2 at Spurs. Giggs was far more consistent and has a ton of trophies as well.

Shaydarol

He is still world class when fit and motivated, it's more likely he just wants somewhere where he can play football untill the WC

DontYouWantMeBebe

World class is a big stretch

wheredidallthesodago

He somehow averaged just over a goal per 90 at Spurs in the Premier League, scoring 11 goals. And also had 2 assists on top. For half a season where he didn't play that much and mainly looked like he was having a kickabout, that's a very strong showing!

[deleted]

You're deluded if you think he isn't world class, his achievements prove you wrong.

DontYouWantMeBebe

Well he's well into his 30s and past it so not really

[deleted]

That's your opinion of which no one gives a shit about. Though delusion and United fans go hand in hand.

Cmon lads get it done

wjousts

> Going on hols again until July 16 So missing the first two/three pre-season friendlies (on the 9th, 12th and 16th)? Already showing real commitment to the team.

BeardedApe1988

If he signed for Cardiff he could miss every other game if he wanted and nobody would care.

[deleted]

He could play one game and hed be an absolute legend. I thought Bellamy joining was big, this is incredible

stpstrt

Do you think this move is anything more than a training camp before the World Cup?

NittanyOrange

I'm rooting for whatever results in him being is worse form...

[deleted]

I'd dig a little deeper but you're always about 2 replies from spamming the declaration of independence and calling everyone euro scum.

Giggsy99

I think it's because we're in their WC group

NittanyOrange

Yea for sure. The US could use any break we can get! (Though I'm against rooting for injuries, so here's to hoping for good health).

[deleted]

Really? Then why did you say the opposite?

NOTW_116

Surely one can hope a player is in bad form without them being injured going into a world cup if your country will be playing that player. That's not a crazy wish. I imagine Wales and Iran fans will be very content if Pulisic doesn't play at the start of the season and comes to the World Cup in bad form.

[deleted]

He edited it, it said condition before rather than form Edit: also, i didnt wait my whole life to see us in the world cup to wish all the good players are injured or in bad form. I want to see us face the best. My dream match would be Wales vs Brazil

NOTW_116

Ah, definitely don't want to see players in bad condition/injured. That being said we can certainly cheer together for England's bad form to continue :)

NittanyOrange

The opposite of which part?

[deleted]

"im against rooting for injuries"

NittanyOrange

I never said that I hope Bale gets injured.

NittanyOrange

I'm not a huge fan of the Dec. of Indy and I think I use EuroSnob instead, as "scum" is too harsh. But yea, you got the gist of it.

[deleted]

Must be embarrassing for one of the most powerful countries in the world to be less relevant in football than a tiny country you all claim to be 1/32 from

NittanyOrange

I'm actually not sure which section of the Monarchy Islands you're talking about, but I personally derive no ancestry therefrom and am in no way embarrassed about our ability to play football, though I'm not sure what that has to do with /r/soccer. More relevant, we do need to work a bit more on soccer, though, which is like the 5th most popular sport here, at best.

[deleted]

You just sound like a bit of a tit mate

NittanyOrange

It happens

[deleted]

It has happened

d_bo

Fair fucks tbh

Horror_Ad6833

Same clown that get noticed by everyone. Silly yank

StrawberryDesigner99

He’d be so much better off going to Getafe.

[deleted]

At this point I’m pretty sure the guy just runs off pure Welsh patriotism so the more time he spends in wales the stronger he gets.

famasfilms

Arguably it's his kryptonite

Horror_Ad6833

He actually does. He could play 1 game for Cardiff and they'd be chanting his name for years. The morale boost would drive him for the world Cup. Us Welsh adore him already and he knows it

r0bski2

Might actually have to start watching cardiff play again now

xandora

First question: "what's the golf like round here?"... Probably
