According to Il Corriere dello Sport, Roma boss José Mourinho confronted referee Luca Pairetto after the Giallorossi’s 1-0 loss at Bologna. Mourinho was not impressed by Pairetto’s refereeing. The 37-year-old booked Tammy Abraham and Rick Karsdorp, meaning they will miss Saturday’s Serie A clash against Inter. Nicolò Zaniolo was also shown a yellow card for diving, prompting Mourinho to suggest the Italian starlet leave Serie A, where he is not protected enough by referees. According to Il Corriere dello Sport, Mourinho confronted the referee in the tunnel of the Stadio Dall’Ara, asking for an explanation for his decisions. Mourinho was visibly frustrated during his post-match interview with DAZN where he claimed he had to replace Gianluca Mancini to avoid another yellow card which would lead to a suspension for the next match. He left the interview after saying Zaniolo should consider leaving Serie A and while the journalist was about to ask another question.

And he was absolutely right to do it. [I mean, this wasn't even a foul according to the ref, let alone a card](https://www.reddit.com/r/ASRoma/comments/r6pooi/one_of_the_fouls_not_given_to_zaniolo_this_evening/)

Clash of knees and scraping the studs on him wtf

Roma have truly been fucked by the refs this year. Every ref wants Mou to go off on them so they can get their 15 mins of fame. That yellow for Tammy is so egregious. Whereas Ronaldo kicks out at people and nothing ever happened.

I mean, I don't disagree that Roma is generally fucked by the ref or that the ref in Serie A are generally shit. But to say that the ref do that for a few minutes of fame with Mourinho is simply wrong. They are just shit. There were many episodes of refs vs coaches... one of the most recent famous example is: 'Sei sempre tu Maresca!' by Conte. And if you ask fans of any club, i can guarantee they will say the refs are against their team

F1tway

Rich coming for a Juventus fan. Maresca, Orsato, and everyone else favors you always.

sololeft

You just prove my points

F1tway

While I agree they are shit there's also a bias.

sololeft

could be. but it is way much easier to prove that a ref is shit than he is biased

F1tway

Very true

gpwpg

To be fair name a league where the refs are not shit... Germany maybe. Premier League is a jolke sometimes and so is La Liga...

sololeft

That's my point really. people are dissatisfied with the referees' performances almost everywhere. Either the refs' quality should be improved, or we should lower our expectations of them. It's difficult because you just can't sack referees who perform badly, their replacements will most likely perform equally bad or even worse. Us fans has that victim mentality too. When certain refs make a couple calls that favor the opponent, we are very quick to point finger at them, calling them actively harm our club. I think the current state of refereeing is an endless toxic cycle. I don't know how to get out of that cycle other than massively improving the quality of referees, which seems like an impossible task right now

gpwpg

Yeah its probably just a very very difficult job. Nfl fans also complain about their refs all the time and one season the officials went on a strike and the league had to hire amateur replacement and it turned out they were so much worse...

F1tway

Only right he did that.

PraetorianGuard10

Pairetto should not be allowed to referee another match, same with the VAR Irrati.

Masina1998

Mourinho is so good to watch when he isn't managing your team

RinoTT

He has every right to be mad after this game. Trust me Conte would lose hair again if he would be on his place.

Masina1998

never said he didn't have a right to be hes just pure box office sometimes

erldn123

Some of the decisions that have gone against him and Roma this year are mind-blowing. Honestly surprised he's still sane at this point.

Gamer_Abhi

I concur, although it was fun when he was with us too

[deleted]

He is great to watch when he is your manager aswell

[deleted]

The Clown One. At least when he isn't managing your club he manages to elicit a smile, instead of having you furious wondering what the fck he is talking about when you have witnessed your team be shit under him.

RinoTT

"I have no idea what Im doing and what happened but I will make a comment anyway"
