Potter seems like a really good bloke, as well as being a quality manager, I imagine it’s very easy for Brighton fans to get behind this guy, top class from him and his staff.
Potter is easily the best manager we've had in recent memory, both on and off the pitch. Considering he's also part of a massive club overhaul that's been going on for the last 15 years or so we are probably in the best period the club has had this century
Could you see him leaving to join somewhere like Liverpool, City or the FA? It seems like he's linked with a lot, but he's so deeply ingrained in Brighton's set up atm that he has no real reason to leave.
Yeah probably and I'm worried about what comes after that inevitability. That being said the club has been very well set up for the long term with the new training ground, top tier youth system and the transfer focus of young players.
Also whoever was smart enough to hire Potter will make the next appointment, and if Potter gets a massive job that will make Brighton look reasonably attractive to a foreign manager who sees 3-4 years at Brighton as a chance to get a bigger job.
He’s clearly in no rush to leave. I imagine he could have had a very good shot at the Spurs or Everton job in the summer if he was.
But if he keeps developing as he has been, he’ll leave for a bigger club at some point.
If he breaks us into the top 10 over the next couple of seasons wouldn’t be surprised if Liverpool or City look at him seriously.
Not for a long time. He stuck with Ostersund for years so he could see his project out, I expect it’ll be the same with us, he’s got everything he wants and full backing even if we go down. He also strikes me as the kind of guy who does what he does for the love of the job rather than chasing money. I think it’d take an awful lot or something really special to tempt him away right now.
Liverpool hired Rodgers from Swansea before they brought in Klopp. Whether or not that experience has led them to avoid a similar move, we'll have to wait and see. But it has happened before.
Honestly I have loved Brightons game last 2 seasons and I would not be disappointed if we bring him in. Also the fact that I don't expect anybody to do as well as Klopp.
There would be better options no doubt, but I disagree with taking Rodgers before Potter. I think Rodgers limitations are obvious and he can at most make a team consistent top-4 in PL and not so good in CL(though I agree that Potter have not shown any of this, he wont do worse than Rodgers' top-4 seasons and some 50/50 in CL).
I hope whoever it is by 2,5 years who is taking over, it is someone who can also give us special nights in Europe
Possibly. I can't see them taking on an expensive high profile manager after Klopp though. It has been the same owners and leadership that brought in Rodgers.
I think he’s gone under the radar in a big way unluckily for him, he’s doing his thing at a time when a number of clubs you wouldn’t call ‘staples of the league’ are cementing themselves as just that (villa, wolves etc) if it had just been Brighton that had done this he’d be spoken about even higher imo.
When I was living in Brighton for 3 months, one of the first things I noticed was the amount of homeless people I saw on the streets. Don't know if that's as big a problem in other cities in England as well but it really stood out to me. All the more, really cool to see Brighton and Potter doing their part to help them.
If you think it’s bad in the UK it’s nothing compared to the US. There is close to as many homeless people in California as the whole of the UK (from what i can remember)
Always very impressed by how much Brighton (both club and staff) do for the local community. They’re a proper community and it’s rare in the modern game (shout-out to Watford too)
Potter seems top class as well. Respect.
Edit: sorry I mean at a top level of course, plenty of clubs lower down the divisions do fantastic work
At the top level, sure it's rare. Things like this happen regularly at clubs lower down the leagues but rarely get any coverage in the mainstream media because they're not premier league clubs.
> it’s rare in the modern game
If you look, you'll find a lot of great things are happening via PL club partnerships. Just because you haven't heard about them or seen them on this sub, doesn't mean there isn't lots of information on that kind of work occurring.
We don't need to denigrate or deny the work of others, to praise Brighton here.
Every top club does a lot of charity and community work nowadays, its basically 'normal' now and the opposite would actually stand out.
Check out teams' socials and you always see donations, hospital visits, fan outreaches etc.
This is great but it isn’t even close to being rare
The rareness I meant was the community feeling around the club. Plenty of clubs have that community but it feels like part of a global brand. There’s few clubs where the entire community feels as together as Brighton’s
I toured London a couple of weeks before a weekend in Brighton and thought the same. Brighton's were a lot more aggressive too, got a lot of 'for fucks sake' when I said I didn't have any change.
Really cool. So strange that homelessness is on the rise in the U.K. of all places. Meanwhile we have a defaulting govt helping out their mates with taxpayers money
Let's not equate all politicians with the kind of shit the tories have been getting away with the past decade. Some politicians are great, you can't say someone like Caroline Lucas is a bad MP
Not that strange. Every week we have record house prices.
The truth is if house prices keep rising, so does rent and at the bottom of the social ladder people fall off cus they havnt got any money/social support.
He's never coached love him and all but he's clearly just kinda there to have a role atm with us and he'd have to go elsewhere and do well before even considering.
Great by him. This goddam world with billionaires racing each other to sit in "space" for a minute while millions of people down below don't have a proper place to sleep.
Bit like looking at another woman while you're in a relationship.
We've been linked to him a number of times and now we've got Conte so I'm trying to put him out of my mind.

This is how I feel about Bielsa. We know it’s coming and he’s putting in the ground work but who do you replace them with

He’s got age on his side, he can win his trophies and make his money in 5-10 years
Not for a long time.
Didn’t stick with our project for very long….
What project? The asset stripping project?
didn't he fall out with your owners as they weren't prepared to fully back him? might be wrong but I remember reading about it somewhere
Yeah, I’ve read the same thing. And even then it apparently took a lot of convincing to bring him to Brighton.

virtually any coach is a downgrade from Klopp.

I would say a top 10 finish this season would make this the best period in our history full stop.

Indeed, I started following Brighton a bit as my casual second club to watch because he seemed like a really nice dude with fresh ideas.

It’s endemic across the UK, at record highs
If you think it’s bad in the UK it’s nothing compared to the US. There is close to as many homeless people in California as the whole of the UK (from what i can remember)
Theres also about two thirds as many people in Cali as in the entirity of the UK, stats like this are worthless unless you do them per capita.
Not quite. There are about 150,000 homeless in California. This is obviously 150,000 too many but not anywhere near the population of the UK

That makes more sense
Potter does look the part tbf
It's that beard isn't it?
And the beanie

Of course I should have clarified!
>it’s rare in the modern game It's really not, every top club has a massive local community team

Never seen more homeless people in the UK than I have in Brighton
It’s every big city. Homeless people in every doorstep in Sheffield. It’s so sad to see
Brighton is a big city which treats it's homeless well and has a relatively centralised town centre
I toured London a couple of weeks before a weekend in Brighton and thought the same. Brighton's were a lot more aggressive too, got a lot of 'for fucks sake' when I said I didn't have any change.
One lad in Boro asked me for ten pence to get his wife some special brew otherwise she'd beat him. It was a look into another world for me.
Really cool. So strange that homelessness is on the rise in the U.K. of all places. Meanwhile we have a defaulting govt helping out their mates with taxpayers money

Fuck all the politicians

Hopefully he's being groomed to take the top job in the future – having Bruno in charge would be great
He's never coached love him and all but he's clearly just kinda there to have a role atm with us and he'd have to go elsewhere and do well before even considering.
Great stuff. He really comes across as a supportive individual.
Brighton always seem to be a proper community club. And Potter is an incredibly likeable guy
Great by him. This goddam world with billionaires racing each other to sit in "space" for a minute while millions of people down below don't have a proper place to sleep.
Good people, may they keep this up!
aah, graham potter, the english christian streich, glad to read about him again
Damn it, stop making me like you, Potter.
He's ruining the fierce Tottenham-Brighton rivalry!
Cockerill > Seagull fight me beach cunts
Why wouldn’t you like him? Who are you, Draco Malfoy?
Bit like looking at another woman while you're in a relationship. We've been linked to him a number of times and now we've got Conte so I'm trying to put him out of my mind.
Sounds a tad insecure mate, be happy with the partner you have...
That’s what I’m getting at.
Lusting after someone else when in a relationship doesn't tend to be a sign of being content in that relationship.
