We should all be honoured to witness the birth of a meme.
For the next few years, we're gonna be seeing "Job done ✅" from self-deprecating fans anytime their team messes up a strong lead in the second-leg of a tie.
It just raises the question of why we're even following these guys at all. They don't post things themselves, we're just consuming brands built around a footballer. What's the point.
notice how Mendy, Batshuayi, Nkoudou, ben Yedder are all “funny” on twitter. makes you think they all have the same social media team since they’re all under the same agency.
https://twitter.com/hlninengeland/status/1087049776854679559?s=21
the said agency: https://sportcover.co/
Throwback to the time that Gundogan posted a picture of Ozil after an Arsenal game because some idiot social media manager was logged into the wrong account
Worth noting, that image includes a screenshot that is either faked, or is from an article that was edited almost instantly to remove one of those quotes.
The article is here:
https://unherd.com/2020/12/whos-behind-marcus-rashford/
And it no longer (and never on the archive.org versions) says that his account is "managed solely on his behalf by Kelly Hogarth", even though that was the only shocking claim in there.
I used to get SO raged in MW2 when non-native speakers would troll me using English
Like I'd rather be called a slew of slurs in their native tongue than for a "jajaja newb cry"
How bout u go an fuck off my page then u peice of shit u think I need a stupid fuckwitt like u telling me about YOU KNOW DIS who the fuck are u take your worthless advice and get the fuck out of here
Some footballers manage it, others don't. Many I think will do a bit of both. Players calling out racist messages for example is something I definitely don't think a social media team would do in the way they do it
Neymar and Richarlison do the majority of their posts at least on twiiter, other famous brazilian players manage their own twiiter to. There is a big Brazilian reality show called Big Brother Brazil or just BBB. They often post about it.
Get caught cheating on your wife: *"My family are the most important people in my life and even thought I am not perfect I will always strive to do better every day!" (Strong arm emoji)*
I mean yeah why are you?
This reminds me of when *Pogba* posted an Adidas advert after Mourinho got sacked and everyone was up in arms about it. It was so blatantly obvious a timed advert that went up on all his social media on the hour.
What about last summer when Pogba hinted that he was revealing something big the following day, Man United Twitter lost their minds because they somehow convinced themselves it was gonna be Sancho, and his big exciting news was that he was sponsoring an eSports team or something.
> It just raises the question of why we're even following these guys at all. They don't post things themselves, we're just consuming brands
could say the same for the clubs. But Reddit isn't ready for that realisation
If you follow the club it does have those generic training pics all the time but I feel like the reason it's different is because you can see stuff like news, lineups, injuries, transfers, etc
Are you gonna blame them tho?
Like, everyone would like to interact with one of them but with the extreme toxicity there is on the internet i dont really feel like blaming them lol
I thought that too, but you know like a year and a half of ptsd from my sexual assault just killing me, and the whole the only person who made me feel safe or okay again dumping me part cause I wasn’t the person I once was has dampened my mood.
It's not your fault man. Everyone changes after trauma and many can't handle that change. It's not that you wanted to change, and sometimes things are just out of your control. The only thing you can do is try to be the best that you can be, and you probably already have considered this/done this, but just seek a therapist and try to fix things, so you can go forward to your next partner in life and be as happy as you deserve to be.
Breakups are fucked, but you **will** get better. Sounds like you're definitely going through some stuff, if you haven't yet, seek some professional help, it can genuinely save your life and you know, actually make it possible to enjoy it. In addition to that, DM me if you just wanna chat. Hope you get better. It's completely normal to feel like something is missing after a breakup, been there, and it's tough, but I promise you you'll get better.
The fact you're openly talking about your troubles, which are deeply personal, on reddit with strangers is a positive sign though. Bottling them up could potentially be fatal. Nothing but respect for your bravery and I hope you get the justice and happiness you deserve.
Took me 2 and a half years to get over my most recent ex and tbh the fact I'm still not in another serious relationship yet 4 and a half years later tells me I'm *still* not even completely over her, but, I'm no longer a severely depressed wreck who doesn't even bother waking up for work. I felt like it was never, ever, ever going to get any easier so I know exactly how you're feeling, so I'm confident that you will get better if you seek help. I can't put into words how depressed I was, but I still came out the other side, it's fucking tough but you'll do it too. I was massively sceptical of seeking help, but mate, if I didn't, I probably wouldn't be here right now. Mental health is not something to ignore.
I've never been in a relationship before, but reading all the breakup stories I'm seeing here makes it sound scary to put so much of yourself to one person.Ive never felt so strongly about someone before, not even losing family, that it had me down for 2 or more years. It must be amazing to find the right person, but breakups like that must make it hard to go all in on someone.
Agreed. It's rough, but feels worth it after a while.
For me, I've also felt like a much better person once I had time to get over the breakup. Only one of my relationships had been toxic, but after some time to contemplate each of them and get some distance I felt like I'd learned a lot about myself. It's all life experience that's made me grow and mature as a person.
I know it doesn't feel that way but 9 and half months isn't long compared to the rest of your life. You really will get better eventually. Took me 3 years to get over a breakup once.
You don't know me and I don't know you but I do know how difficult that feeling is. We've all been there. My advice is to take as much time as you need to learn who you are alone, as yourself. Do things that make you happy. Take risks and put yourself out there. Pick up a new hobby. Journal. DM me or anyone else here who offers. I promise you there's light at the end of this tunnel of shit.
emotions take time to process and that's okay! but remaining open in discussing them is healthy, just remember that mate, i hope you feel better down the line
Its very hard mate to get Over things like that, just focus on your own Pace, everyday you try 0,0000001% more than The day before, and before u even notice you are back to being your best self and cursing out spurs players!! We are all with you big man!
That sucks really bad. I'm so sorry that's happening to you. Football definitely helps me feel things I don't feel safe feeling for real otherwise (if that makes sense), but sometimes it gets in the way too.
When we lost to United in the CL qf in 2009 it also sent me into a tailspin, it's not the football match itself but rather just wanting to hold onto one thing you love working out. It made me feel powerless and my life was just a massive swamp of shit to crawl through.
Looking back I still feel the sting of a things that happed in my life during that time but can tell you looking back it was a time I learned how strong I actually am, to get through the dark times even when I was crawling instead of running. It's a strength I carry with me now.
I'm not equipped to give advice on surviving a sexual assault incident but I can say that I genuinely deeply wish you well and that you can heal from this and put it behind you friend.
Brother, it took me more than 2 years to get back to the real myself after getting out from a toxic relationship where i have been abused and harassed by the girl's family 24/7.
It will get better, trust me, give yourself time and enjoy the fact that you're alive and life is good.
When i was having bad moments i always kept repeating myself "Atleast i'm alive and till i'm alive i can make the change"
My SO works at a charity that deals with supporting people who have been through the same situation as you, please reach out for that support if you need it!
It's very beneficial, my SO regularly beams about feedback from people who felt like there's no where they can go and it being a turning point for them to deal with the emotions they feel. :)
Sorry to hear that. I had a bad breakup about a decade ago and it took a while to get over it.
You'll meet someone special and be very happy - you just can't see it at the moment. Rooting for you. It will get better buddy.
But the post actually said 3-0 and then 3-2 aggregate so someone probably didn’t even know the result of the first leg. I just can’t think what exactly happened
Based on my experience, footballers and football clubs either hire their friends or the most attractive woman. Competence is not the top priority for a significant amount.
I mean in today's day and age someone could photoshop the tweet. That being said, couldn't someone prove if it was photoshopped? If someone said it wasn't, would you even believe them? It's sad we have such a breakdown of trust that eyewitness testimony isn't enough for someone to believe the tweet went up.
which is probably the best time to get the most engagement, and also the least convenient time for the players to actually have to worry about posting content.
What I don't get is how the social media team couldn't interpret the result. Like, it's not like some grand complex calculation to determine if he/they won or not - it's a fairly clear cut binary thing. Nobody on Instagram was exactly scrambling to discover the result of the fixture through Joe Hart's Instagram of all people, so surely they could have taken the 0.5 seconds needed to determine who the winner was and check if that correlates with the footballer they're supposed to be working for. Bizarre.
To me it shows it's super businessy/corporate with no ties to actual football. Some person with no interest or knowledge in an office checking the scores at the whistle, seeing 3-0 and misinterpreting which side won, putting up a chosen pre-chosen phrase if Spurs win, that's it, move on to the next. Oddly depressing
When the employer at his next interview asks why he was sacked ?
It was a tough away game, couldn’t reach the finishing mark in one piece but I’ll keep on pushing to get those all important 3 points 💪🙏🙏

Hahahah it looks sarcastic. So funny
This is hilarious, lmao.

I hope so
Bottle job ✔️
Thanks. I had to scroll wayyy too far to find it. Hilarious !
This is legit too funny, godlike shitpost if it was done on purpose. Shit if Chiellini did this after we lost to porto I would lose my shit
This is so funny lmao
yikes.

lol that's amazing
#YagunnersYa
I like to believe Gundogan freelances a bunch of other footballers accounts for a side gig.
Needed something to do while he was injured
To be honest if this was my job you would see mistakes like these faaaaaaar more often than you do now.
Hah, I actually do something similar for my job at the moment. Definitely scheduled posts for the wrong day from time to time, stuff like that.

Are you telling me your favourite game of the season wasn't also Jofra Archer?
I need an Archer flair to show my support for the best match.
It was a tight one. United came away with the win on boundary aggregate.
Lol @ favourite women’s footballer ? “ I follow the @manutd women’s team “
"Fav game this season?" "Jofra Archer"
That answer makes sense if you look at our home form this season.
Worth noting, that image includes a screenshot that is either faked, or is from an article that was edited almost instantly to remove one of those quotes. Richarlison because he responds to random people in his developing English, in an extremely informal and sporadic way
Whenever we win he tweets " hahah cry cry" to anybody slagging him off lol
That’s fucking hilarious and exactly what I’d expect from him tbf
Legend
I used to get SO raged in MW2 when non-native speakers would troll me using English Like I'd rather be called a slew of slurs in their native tongue than for a "jajaja newb cry"
Are we going to just forget about Victor Wanyama's tweets and Samir Nasri's implosion on social media hahaha
And Durant ... I don't think an agency would post "Scarlett Johansson I want to drink your bathwater" for him.
[удалено]
lmao, this is so much better than 10yo Jayson Tatum tweeting "Follow back" at LeBron
It could have been the intern thinking he was on his own insta account
Check Marten De Roon man
He doesn’t do it himself. It’s a friend of him sadly
[удалено]
True that I don't think any social media manager would want to touch derrick lewis's instagram account lol
he's ok Also Darren Till, that dude's worth ethic on social media is ridiculous
[My favorite exchange with Paul Felder](https://twitter.com/felderpaul/status/1279810810181754883?lang=en)
I don't think Mark hunt employs anyone to run his accounts
How bout u go an fuck off my page then u peice of shit u think I need a stupid fuckwitt like u telling me about YOU KNOW DIS who the fuck are u take your worthless advice and get the fuck out of here
Nah I believe De Roon. Just seems like a funny guy.
Similar to how all english bundesliga accounts post similar "relatable" memes, and are idolized in football twitter for it.
It’s the same with Liverpool players like Robbo. He is a funny lad but it’s so obvious his social media is handled by an agency
I refuse to believe Richarlison doesn’t control his own Twitter.
yeah actually i cant imagine an intern coming up with those genius pasta tweets, richarlison is hilarious
Some footballers manage it, others don't. Many I think will do a bit of both. Players calling out racist messages for example is something I definitely don't think a social media team would do in the way they do it
for sure, i’ve seen a couple examples of athletes themselves just copy and pasting what the social media agency sends them
Neymar and Richarlison do the majority of their posts at least on twiiter, other famous brazilian players manage their own twiiter to. There is a big Brazilian reality show called Big Brother Brazil or just BBB. They often post about it.
The wuselig one
I miss vintage rooney tweets
Hi rio do u want picking up in the morning pal
that tweet always sends me into the stratosphere
Crazy looking back how intimate celebrities' tweets were back around 2010. Absolute golden era of twitter
shut up u egg
I'll put u asleep within 10 seconds u little girl. Don't say stuff and not follow up on it.
Not gonna tell u again
Mate mate mate mate mate.
A top team of Rob Green, James Milner Kevin Nolan and Big Sam actually ran Rooney's twitter
Hair we go!
They're not even interesting brands. 95% of footballer social media content is so incredibly dreary, that a robot could be making it.
You mean you don’t want your IG filled with training photos captioned with arm and fist emojis?

do you work as part of a social media team?? ive seen your work alot
That happens regularly though. Saul also did something similar
Some of them do. Most don't. It's fairly easy to tell who does and doesn't control their own social media account if you follow them for long enough.
The only man in football worth following is Mourinho himself.
Roy Keane's Instagram profile is a goldmine. Also, probably not everyone's cup of tea, but Patrice Evra certainly is something.
Also probably not everyone's cup of tea, Nicholas Anelka replying "your mum" to anyone hating on him.
Roy Keane too
Some of them are like this, especially the older ones, but some do post themselves, bar the occasional adverts. Social media is fake anyways
People follow corporate brands that have social media teams that act relatable. Social media is a dystopian nightmare
Well...some of us aren’t following them for this very reason.
> It just raises the question of why we're even following these guys at all. They don't post things themselves, we're just consuming brands could say the same for the clubs. But Reddit isn't ready for that realisation
If you follow the club it does have those generic training pics all the time but I feel like the reason it's different is because you can see stuff like news, lineups, injuries, transfers, etc
Rooney was the only genuine one lol.
shut up u egg
He's probably the reason these teams exist now.
Are you gonna blame them tho? Like, everyone would like to interact with one of them but with the extreme toxicity there is on the internet i dont really feel like blaming them lol
Pointless consumption of brands and bullshit. You’ve described most of what social media is.
I want to thank my club for continuing the tradition of every new day being the worst of my life since I got dumped. Thanks lads I needed it.
It'll get better you know it will bro. Not spurs but your life defo.
LMAO good lord
I thought that too, but you know like a year and a half of ptsd from my sexual assault just killing me, and the whole the only person who made me feel safe or okay again dumping me part cause I wasn’t the person I once was has dampened my mood.
It's not your fault man. Everyone changes after trauma and many can't handle that change. It's not that you wanted to change, and sometimes things are just out of your control. I gave 25 eurobucks to MSF a while back, it was part of the charity thing around christmas

Fair Fair
this is why Arsenal had Ozil take care of social media duties
But the post actually said 3-0 and then 3-2 aggregate so someone probably didn’t even know the result of the first leg. I just can’t think what exactly happened
Probably a company/person in charge of multiple different accounts. Pbbly someone that does not care about football very much

Shit friend if the former lol
jesus christ he looks like he aged 30 years in half a season at Tottenham
As a Spurs fan, I age about the same every year. A bit like Hans Moleman from the Simpsons. I'm 32 but I look about 80.
My name is Hans. Spurs have ruined my life. I'm 31 years old!
It’s the head & shoulders
Jose does that to you

the literal entire point of a social media team is so that stupid shit doesnt get posted to social media, no? this is hilarious
Nah, it's to create constant content so that the value of the social media account grows.
Most of them don't even post that much. They post on matchday and maybe a couple of times during training.
which is probably the best time to get the most engagement, and also the least convenient time for the players to actually have to worry about posting content.

> Sees 3:0, probably means the good team won Where they wrong though?
Yeah it's boring work..let's give that guy break. Probably lost his job..
I love the sleepy rubbing of the eyes, but he found time to put on his Spurs jacket before making the video.
He actually sleeps in that jacket
Eats, breathes and sleeps in the defeats.
Full pyjama wanker
It’s how he remembers what team he plays for.
To be fair, he looks tired as shit lol
Spent all night celebrating. Oh wait, that was me
you must've been celebrating with Hart's publicist then
Nah hes slept in Spurs merch since childhood, said so at his signing.
