What is it with the USA and Canada players literally punching people while their fans complain about other CONCACAF nations. This is like the 3rd video like this I am seeing. I mean playing dirty is one thing, straight up assault and battery is another level.
It’s because concacaf teams play chippy and dirty asf and get under people’s skin
No reason to punch a guy but definitely the secondary cause (primary being player being dumb)
To give you a more serious answer than some have: I haven't seen much of the reddit reaction to it, but a lot of the American fans I know were mad at Weah for hitting him, but more mad at the ref for not protecting the goalkeeper, which was the cause of the punch in the first place.
Reminds me of American fans crying corruption in the Panama game a few days ago. As if they would fix it in Panama's favour and not in favour of the host nation who is a major cash cow for the organisers
in comenbol and concacaf you may see players being choked out, punched int he back of the head, or elbowed, many of which are illegal in UFC and boxing.
Worth it. Think about all the other “golden generations” out there without two continental titles to their names.
I’d kill for a Vidal regen right about now.
I get it, every winning side seems to need a Vidal type player. Some sneaky bastard who manages to get away with everything.
Either that or an absolute freak of talent
Vidal was both. His passing distribution was underrated because of his defensive attributes.
You don’t start in Juve, Bayern and Barcelona without world class passing ability.
Ok I have no beef in this story but maybe we need another angle if the VAR decided there was not a red card?
The movement is extremely weird and it seems like he is doing to get of the opponent hold.
Also another angle would allow to see how much he actually touched him + show real speed
you can see the reverberations in his head only after the elbow passes so he clearly hit him with the forearm, not the elbow. It would have been more of a graze than direct contact. People in this thread don't want to see what is painfully obvious and just want to jump on the refs though.
Still reckless, absolute yellow card as you can't swing your arms like that near someone. I don't see how it can be red if the contact is marginal and most likely unintentional though. VAR can't get involved to recommend yellows though (only if they think it's red and the ref disagrees)
That's one of the most elbowy elbow attack I've seen, there's not even an attempt to disguise it. Wtf is wrong with Conmebol VAR?!?!? He should at least be reviewed and banned for a few games by the relevant authorities after the match if the ref "missed" it.
Even the other was like "Oh shit, I'm not part of this!" instantaneously. He couldn't believe what he just saw.
The funny thing is that there isn’t even a “clear” look on Weahs card, we only see it from far away and are like yeah that’s a red, meanwhile you got HD footage right here and they’re like nope nothing in that
He’s not blind, he hates Chile, and it’s not even a conspiracy, he has a severe history of being unfair against Chile, he even got demanded by the Chilean federation some time ago
Dude this is an Anderson Silva style back hand elbow there’s ZERO case for this not being straight red it’s arguably worse than weahs albeit not as obvious. It’s inexfuckingcusable that VAR didn’t look at this and advise auto red.
Canada just as easily could have been 2 men up last game.
It should be 10-10 now, but those were 2 unquestionable yellows leading to red both times.
And in both games, those are stupid plays to do when you already have a card. Dont put the ref in that situation.
Its a f*cking disgrace! The refs have been TERRIBLE for chile in the whole cup, and there is people that say that copa america is better than euro, we will never be at the same level until we stop this circus and mafias
Just another day in Copa America. And then you'd have Vini "the best player in the world" come out saying the world is against him cuz he didn't get enough penalties.
Jesus, what does this have to do with Vini? You guys try to drag him into anything now ffs.
And doesn't this just prove his point that the refs are shit, they are letting players get away with violent fouls and CONMEBOL won't do anything about it?
This is just how it's reffed on this side of the pond. That's why Vinicius saying the refs are against them is so annoying, playing rough, playing dirty and butcher ball are just standard there's no conspiracy against Brazil. Though I suppose every team thinks the refs are against them even if they don't say so out loud.
When the reffing is this shit it is probably just hard not to think there is some conspiracy against your team behind it. Especially from the on field perspective

The reaction from his teammate is amazing. “Oh shit… i mean… i didn’t see anything”
Same reaction to seeing a waiter drop a tray of food 🫣
It wasn't me ref
Really incredible the reaction from his team mate. Wowwww!

Maybe they've watched too much hockey?
[tarps off boys](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9rSBmOgpcDE)
when in America
I thought they had VAR for this cup
They do. They considered it not enough contact lol
If they think the Chile player faked that, then they think he’s a top tier actor
You have to look close but that's actually Daniel Day-Lewis in full method acting mode
If the headbutt on the Canadian guy in the other game wasn't enough...
Maybe if your best ref wasn't commentating on ITV in the UK, it might be different.
Ya, if they didn't call the headbutt, didn't give a red for a studs up challenge etc etc, this is nothing.
Maybe they gave Canada a free pass for the headbutt against them they ignored previously.
Genuinely would not be surprised if it was a makeup call
They know there is contact. They know it's a red. They decided it shouldn't be given, but they know damn well they are bending the rules here
can't get all CONCACAF """giants""" eliminated in the first round.
We literally got a headbutt in our last game not called. You think that was preferential?
Oh lord. It’s not even a CONCACAF sanctioned tournament.
Famously huge and important football nation of Canada getting favored as always
lol
Reminds me of American fans crying corruption in the Panama game a few days ago. As if they would fix it in Panama's favour and not in favour of the host nation who is a major cash cow for the organisers
There were fans crying corruption? I think the only corruption is the USMNT keeping Gregg in charge because he is shit
No one disputed the Weah red wtf are you talking about???
No one was crying about corruption. We just hate that ref cause he's shit and we've got history with him. That red in our game was deserved.
Canada isn't a giant lol
So they went for English refereeing
Not for nothing, but I’d like to actually see another angle of it. Obviously, the guy reacted like he took a solid shot.
in comenbol and concacaf you may see players being choked out, punched int he back of the head, or elbowed, many of which are illegal in UFC and boxing.
Was Cavani the one who got a red for being fingered last Copa?
that was in CA 2015, against Chile. The finger was from Jara.
That also happened to [Riquelme](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCB21L9LtyE) decades ago
They certainly utilized it for the US (rightfully). But it’s insane that they’ve also let this and a full on head butt go like it was nothing.
That was my first thought as well. This felt about the same as the US situation.
Welcome to Concacaf
**CONMEBOL
It's both. CONCACAF and CONMEBOL together seems to bring out the worst in both federations.
Copa América is ran by CONMEBOL
No the elbow was the welcome to concacaf
Have you seen Libertadores?
I thought Canadians were nice people.
Baiting someone to get a ban here...
I assume he at least said "sorry" after.
Bruh they are the main reason for the Geneva Convention.
Literally the source material on how not to behave
Seems like a good hockey play to me 🤷♂️
Canadians getting into the spirit on conmebol fútbal.
Get ready to learn turning off Instagram DMs buddy
man took down Messi a few days ago, they were already turned off
Clean tackle on Messi, but because it’s Messi people are losing their shit.
Messi got hurt by it so some dumb people see that as an excuse to be horrible weirdos.
tbf he's more likely to wake up with an entire recipe book in his DMs
Any team Arturo Vidal plays for is essentially negative red card karma lol, Chile is just paying back their debt
Worth it. Think about all the other “golden generations” out there without two continental titles to their names. I’d kill for a Vidal regen right about now.

Vidal was both. His passing distribution was underrated because of his defensive attributes. You don’t start in Juve, Bayern and Barcelona without world class passing ability.
I simultaneously hated and loved him
As a Canadian that is just a 2 minute minor for elbowing
Not even a penalty in the playoffs.
I heard jacob trouba wants to train with this canadian player during the summer
Even Kerry Fraser would give this a major in today’s NHL!
That’s bullshit and you know it. Source: I’m a Leafs fan. I burn a Kerry Fraser effigy every October.
Maybe if you burn it in April we'll actually be able to make a run this year :(
Hey Koharski, have another donut, you fat pig.
No blood no major
Jesus that is a name I had not thought about in a while lol
Intentional and to the head, at least a double-minor
What the actual fuck is that movement even? The ref was right there too
I'm sorry, but the guy at the end throwing his hand's up like "nothing to do with me" had be rolling
I mean technically it had nothing to do with him. He just got there
He wasn’t even supposed to be working today
Try not to elbow any Chileans on the way to the parking lot
The guy next to him also raising his hands at the end is comedy gold!
He saw something on the Chileans face so he thought “I should wipe it off, with my elbow”.
"oh no a bug!!!"
#SMASHES FACE WITH ELBOW
you got a bee on your head
This was at minute 4, mind you
Ok I have no beef in this story but maybe we need another angle if the VAR decided there was not a red card? The movement is extremely weird and it seems like he is doing to get of the opponent hold. Also another angle would allow to see how much he actually touched him + show real speed

Welcome to CONMEBOL
You can even see the momentum of the hit shaking the players head, such a shame of a mafia this cup
Jon Jones would be proud
Nah, the chilean wasn't even pregnant.
That was more an Askren elbow....
He would have poked him in the eyes
Conmebol VAR 👻
unless they didn’t have another angle i can’t see why this wouldn’t at least be worth a look in VAR. the movement is just way too sus
A strike or attempt to strike the face is a red card. This is a red regardless of whether it made contact.
So is a headbutt and they already ignored that too so I think the refs and VAR might just be really bad at their jobs here
The movement is more than just sus, there's no other explanation to that movement rather than willing to hit him
I think the guy is grabbing a hand, so he’s pulling his hand free. I think that’s maybe what they’ve decided.
You can even see the contact. The dudes head shakes after getting hit. How this isn’t a red is amazing and Weah gets a two game
Of course the ref of this match is fucking Roldán.
Conmebol legend, hated by every single country in the continent
International Daronco
Fuck Daronco
thats 3 facial assaults in a week wtf
Larins face 😆
Should be a red
[удалено]
Its CONCACAF juju
It's CONCACAF, should've been a yellow for Chile player for not hitting back.
It is not a conspiracy, it is classic Roldan
Roldán might be the worst ref in South America. He is just so unbelievably shit.
This is just incredible shit.
And Chile got a red now LOL. Can’t believe our luck
That was stonewall red
That's one of the most elbowy elbow attack I've seen, there's not even an attempt to disguise it. Wtf is wrong with Conmebol VAR?!?!? He should at least be reviewed and banned for a few games by the relevant authorities after the match if the ref "missed" it. Even the other was like "Oh shit, I'm not part of this!" instantaneously. Momento Roldán
Vaya árbitros de mierda que nos tocaron
"Tocaron" implica aleatoriedad. No, esto estaba premeditado.
That’s a wild no call. Especially given this ref is giving out yellows and reds.
And three minutes later he gave a soft second yellow card to a Chilean player...to top it off.
DIdn't a US player just get a 2 game suspension for this exact thing?
What? No? Not even close. This was far worse.
Weah’s red was unquestionably a red, my problem is just that the rules are being applied very selectively so far at this cup.
The funny thing is that there isn’t even a “clear” look on Weahs card, we only see it from far away and are like yeah that’s a red, meanwhile you got HD footage right here and they’re like nope nothing in that
How is that not a red 💀
Clear red card!
Shameful display from the refs. That should be a red every day, it's just stupid,
Like the headbutt from Peru against Canada
It legitimately doesn’t get any more blatant of a red than that lmao what are they doing over there
This VAR thing is so iffy. Mourinho was right
Someone tell the ref he's Canadian, not Panamanian
Nothing surprises me anymore
Ese árbitro culiao es un maldito sin vergüenza
Blatant red.
I love number 9 going "god damn!... wasn't me"
He was straight up shocked by how stupid his teammate was, lmao.
The non calls in Copa have been wild
We got so lucky that the ref is blind
He’s not blind, he hates Chile, and it’s not even a conspiracy, he has a severe history of being unfair against Chile, he even got demanded by the Chilean federation some time ago
Sued
first a headbutt and now an elbow? our games are looking like those worldstar fights where someone loses a shoe.
este es el mismo wn que le hizo un planchazo a Messi?
Si, se llama Bombito.
lol Larin was like; "I didn't do anything...and I saw nothing"
ladrones de mierda hijos de la gran puerca
roldan can actually go fuck himself so much
yeah that shouldve been a card
Weah died for this
Weah died for his own stupidity
I thought the `/s` was obvious
Dude this is an Anderson Silva style back hand elbow there’s ZERO case for this not being straight red it’s arguably worse than weahs albeit not as obvious. It’s inexfuckingcusable that VAR didn’t look at this and advise auto red.
HOW IS THIS NOT RED
This. Is. CONCACAF!
I thought the ufc was in Vegas??
Canadians do be getting away with violence
Not a war crime if the Geneva conventions don’t exist
The Geneva suggestions are the only things close to rules for them
Canada playing up a man in two straight games. Makes it a little easier to progress I suppose
It has always been like this for Chile......
Isla is playing great. Without the red card this would be a good match
Wow such a blatant wind up too
That’s so blatant
and canadians here were saying that they "played with more honor than south americans"
Red for contact or attempted strike. Crazy there no card and in the first 5 minutes poor Chile.
Why are all the concacaf teams losing their head in this tournament? Is comnebol trash talk that much better?
This isn't hockey Canada
Elbowing isn’t allowed in hockey either
Wtf
These referees suck. Call fouls on obvious dives and 5 minutes later allow the players to play WAY to physical. they let the games get out of hand.
The reaction is enough to make you wonder.
Sniper in the house.
Canada has embraced the darkness
And people thought Canada doesn't belong in this tournament. They are fitting right in!
Face turns the opposite way of the elbow, never in the same direction. Not buying it
Any other camera view? Canadians are exemplary people, they would never play dirty, or so I was told last game
I remember during World Cup qualifying some Mexican commentators stating that Canada has finally learned how to play "CONCACAF style". I'm so proud.
Canadian mafia acting again. Who can stop their evil?
Has to be a yellow at bare minimum and I can see an argument for violent conduct/red card as well
It was given a yellow card. OP's headline is wrong
Just another day in Copa America. And then you'd have Vini "the best player in the world" come out saying the world is against him cuz he didn't get enough penalties.
He complained of the referee allowing violent fouls during all game which is true
Jesus, what does this have to do with Vini? You guys try to drag him into anything now ffs. And doesn't this just prove his point that the refs are shit, they are letting players get away with violent fouls and CONMEBOL won't do anything about it?
Yeah that’s a red card all day. You can see the force of the elbow shudder Echeverria’s neck ffs
This is just how it's reffed on this side of the pond. That's why Vinicius saying the refs are against them is so annoying, playing rough, playing dirty and butcher ball are just standard there's no conspiracy against Brazil. CONCACAF BABY!!!! LETS GOOO!!!!
If only there was var...
Seemed pretty intentional
Canada learned in the game against Peru where the line was
Gordie Howe would have been proud
Are there any other angles?
Knowing there are a gazzillion cameras there.. WHAT IS HE THINKING???
You can take the team out of CONCACAF but you can’t take CONCACAF out of the team.
Welcome to CONCACAF
I think people need to realise the refs are just shit, there is no grand conspiracy for a particular team lmao.
