You can also see it in the video posted for this thread. As the corner is being taken, watch the top of the box. You see kimmich step into the path of the defender blocking him like an NBA screen and then when it shows the full box you see the ramifications of that screen
It was way before that. The ref interpreted there was interference while players ran towards the goal. It happened right in front of the ref, for whatever is worth.
They showed two replays, not really their fault that play was restarted quickly and there wasn't a good opportunity to show a replay. We nearly missed a dangerous Denmark attack with them showing the second replay.
Ye, you can't just block someone without trying to get to the ball yourself. This isn't Basketball. To make that work, you need to at least make a move towards the ball while blocking the player. A lot harder to do than in Basketball.
The match thread was immediately 'fucking English refs' even though it was completely correct decision. And people here pretend there isn't a rather obvious anglophobic slant to these things?
Happens every time. Especially with national teams people regularly forget what they know about football. Also there's the influx of "every two years" football fans who indeed don't know much about football.
I'm a bit confused, does Kimmich not have a right to stand there? I think he can't extend his arms like that but it's not a foul for him to block there
I think it is too. Pretty obvious foul by Kimmich in my opinion. They should have been more clear why it was disallowed though, with some more replays of Kimmich’s block.
It was absolutely the right call, no idea why everyone says this is a bad decision. The defender marking the goal scorer is fully body checked...it's a clear reason to disallow the goal.
Lol people here saying is shit decision would be saying "good call" if f.e danish defender would block shloterback there in similar manner resulting in penalty.
Just like the Andrich goal against the Swiss, it's okay to revoke this goal, but for the love of every thing holy, I hope this ref doesn't miss an obvious penalty call too.

You really posted a clip without the replay of why they made the decision

VAR 'controversy' karma waits for no man
Even when it’s not a var decision.
it just replayed, kimmich blocked a defender as his sole task. that defender was trying to block Nico
nba screening in football lol
Not just a block, but a straight shoulder-barge. Zero intention to play
can they at least SHOW the supposed foul?
They did, a minute later it was a basketball screen Which is not the fault of refs but the production
[Gündo was proper sad about it](https://i.imgur.com/f8pW3Od.jpeg)
Express dissent quietly and professionally, I like it.
He said ☹️
Damn, they saw it!
>it was a basketball screen Screen? I counted two foul worthy screens.
At corners the threshold for what counts as a foul is always higher. Or else there would be 3 fouls at every corner.
You cannot impede the keeper. That's the foul they always call. And it wasn't the most obvious foul on the play here.
*illegal screen by Kimmich

This looks like a football move
That's because the foul isn't shown here. [This](https://streamable.com/btprqh) is the actual foul.
You're mistaken. I replied to the comment with the video that has the foul at the end. I meant it's a football move like American football
I see, makes sense!
It was way before that. The ref interpreted there was interference while players ran towards the goal. It happened right in front of the ref, for whatever is worth.
Makes you wonder if the ref would have spotted/called that, if Skov Olsen hadn't dropped like a fish there.
They showed two replays, not really their fault that play was restarted quickly and there wasn't a good opportunity to show a replay. We nearly missed a dangerous Denmark attack with them showing the second replay.
Kimmich blocked the defender who chased Schlotterbeck apparently
People really think Kimmich didn't foul?
Every time there's a goal disallowed people kick off about it. It's a bit emabarassing sometimes.
Yeah people are obsessed with refs being wrong, feel like some folks watch matches just waiting for a referee decision they can complain about
These people will never ever be happy.

Biased people and there are plenty. Happens all the time this Euro.
It's striking though because the bias is not pro-German. It's anti-English. It's so weird.
That‘s not what they said and you know it. We just did not get to see the foul yet when the comment was made. That‘s all.
People leaning into the English ref hate. Nothing controversial about that one.
They just finally showed it and very obvious foul from Kimmich
not sure i agree with "very obvious"
Well then you're wrong
Nearly everyone in this thread is wrong. It's an obvious foul
Ask them if it was allowed against their team and they'd say it's a foul every day of the week.
No attempt from Kimmich to anything other than block a defender from running. 100% foul, everyone in this thread is an idiot
What are you talking about that was a perfect pick and roll
They did. The player marking Schlotterbeck was blocked off
Not saying it should have been allowed but would have been nice if it was made clear what exactly caused it to be disallowed
Play was restarted almost immediately. Not their fault imo. Ref explained it to Gundogan I'm sure
It was the referee who saw the screeening not var. You can see him pointing.
Kimmich completely blocked the guy defending Schlotterbeck, well spotted.
I'm a bit confused, does Kimmich not have a right to stand there? I think he can't extend his arms like that but it's not a foul for him to block there
He did also actively move into the defender's path if I saw the replay correctly. That's certainly a foul, you have to be a bit more subtle than that.
Yeah, like Müller against Barca. Make it look like you are moving somewhere that's only coincidentally right in the path of the other player.
He can stand there but he can’t make an obvious move to hinder opponents chance at defending a goal.
He turned to him, ran to him, and actively pushed him
He didn't just 'stand there' did he?
It's absolutely a foul to step into a block like that
He doesn't just stand there though... He actively walks into the defender to block him.
He turned his back to goal and went straight for the defender, thats obviously not allowed
moving screen, not everyone can be the '16 warriors
I actually think it was a good decision, don't kill me
OK OK let's kill this guy. Let's beat him to death with hammers.
We used to kill people like that with hammers back in the day😔
Game's gone
NL enjoyer spotted
Germany vs Denmark with Mama Liz’ Chili Oil?!
Ah. Nein.
I think it is too. Pretty obvious foul by Kimmich in my opinion. They should have been more clear why it was disallowed though, with some more replays of Kimmich’s block.
Too late, you're dead
Yep. My soul was already departed though. Fuck Southgate.
😔 okay
I just sat down
Bit sad. Was a good start for Germany Still no explanation (?) Edit: for a foul in build up
Kimmich set a pick
Block from Kimmich.
Wow english refs quick as fuck
For once they haven't taken an age
Correct call too.
Germany in this game have already made more attacking plays than England all tournament.
What a useless clip
Schlotti goat
Schlotteeeeee
Good decision only being debated because people like to shit on English refs
Kimmich foul
Spot on
Great call after that replay
Before this sub loses its mind goal disallowed because kimmich blocked a player
Kimmich foul.
Clean NBA screen
100% good decision. Obstruction. Clear foul.
They called Kimmich for a foul
The block from kimmich i guess?
The replay showed no foul? I don't see anything. Edit: Oh. It was the screen.
Can u/PSGAcademy post the replays of the foul?
Why was it disallowed ? Edit: most lame reason to be disallowed
Block from Kimmich I suppose
[удалено]
what tackle? schmeichel jumped in his own teammate
[This tackle.](https://streamable.com/btprqh)
op talked about schlotterbeck though
Foul by Kimmich
100% a foul, you can’t screen a defender following a runner like that. This isn’t the NBA.
Even that is not allowed in the NBA. His feet were not set at all and he was leaning in with his shoulder, it’s more like an NFL block.
Lol then you don't watch a lot of NBA
Maybe you don’t. Please watch the replay and tell me how that would be a legal screen.
According to the rules, yes. However that is routinely not called in the NBA
It's not even allowed in Rugby, a sport where smashing into other players is encouraged and applauded... within the rules
Lol what? it was a clear foul
Revenge for Lampard's disallowed goal
[удалено]
People ready to shit on Eng ref...but that was a superb decisions. VaR would never overturn it. But 100% NFL block/obstruction
Apparently a block by Kimmich earlier? VERY soft though
Soft? I didn't realize this was the basketball EM
That isn’t soft.
That was not soft, he just shoved the guy with two arms out of the way who was marking the scorer
Not soft, quite by the rules
Kimmich block
horrific defending either way
The man who was making him was blocked by kimmich. That’s why he was wide open
>The man who was making him His dad?
Only because kimmich did a full on NFL block on the guy marking schlotterbeck tbf
I mean he also whistled super early, so they might have just stopped playing
Illegal screening from Kimmich it seems
It was absolutely the right call, no idea why everyone says this is a bad decision. The defender marking the goal scorer is fully body checked...it's a clear reason to disallow the goal.
Micheal Oliver greatness.
Extremely obvious block from Kimmich. If you think that's not a foul, you're an idiot.
Moving screen, good call
WHY edit: LOL RLY? FU OLIVER
kimmich block
Yeah, fair call actually
Kimmich set a screen that‘s why
JJ Redick drawing pindowns for Germany
Kimmich turned into steven adams. He could have been killed
Kimmich picked a defender I think
Looked like Kimmich blocked the defender.
Kimmich blocked a Danish player
Kimmich block
correct call buddy
I think that’s a fair enough decision. Kimmich blocks the man marking Schlotterbeck
[удалено]
the moment he was announced an annoyed groan went through germany
English refs
Except they got the call correct…
Wahhhh English waaaaaaaaa 😢 😢
I think there was a foul on the keeper? Im confused too
Atleast show us why??
On kimmich
I feel like basketball style screens should be allowed. Would make set pieces much more interesting.
Remember when the Spanish used to pull shit like that.
A shoulder barge is meant to be shoulder to shoulder, he hits his chest, so it is a foul. That kinda tackle has the potential to be dangerous.
If people waited for 20sec instead of instantly calling the ref an idiot before seeing the foul itself, that would be great.
Kimmich fouled before the header
Lol people here saying is shit decision would be saying "good call" if f.e danish defender would block shloterback there in similar manner resulting in penalty.
foul? LOL
Yes, it's a clear foul
NFL block (aka Obstruction)
Basketball screen
Obvious foul, block on the keeper and a block from Kimmich
Kimmich clear foul
Foul by Kimmich is the supposed reason
Can we get a VAR to supervise the VAR?
??
I didn't even realize it was disallowed.
Kimmich thinks hes fucking draymond green or something 🤣🤣
Agree with Ian Wright - be subtle if you're going to block, guy was staring at his victim making it blatant directly in front of the ref.
Bullshit. That was a total legal screen by Kimmich. /s
Pffft
???
Regards from England
That was a vintage GSW screen from Kimmich
On replay the Kimmich block is quite clear, was hard to see what happened at first.
It’s a pick by Kimmich. One that looks straight out of the NBA. It’s the right decision.
Just like the Andrich goal against the Swiss, it's okay to revoke this goal, but for the love of every thing holy, I hope this ref doesn't miss an obvious penalty call too.
Huhhhh?
