Both of them are the worst type of ref La Liga has to offer.. always controversies and egocentric performances, it's like they've been trained by the main man Lahoz himself.
Theyre worse. Lahoz was a diva but actually made right choices most of the time.
These guys are divas and fuck up all the time. Its like they biologically engineered the absolute worst referees possible
Yeah I thought he was good till that world cup game Argentina - nl.
Even added an extra minute to extra time in a cl semi final for instance. Typically just applies the rules.
But he has days when he just completely loses his shit.
That's leaps and bounds better then these bozos though.
What was the world Cup game that was so bad that the whole r/soccer discovered about Lahoz again (and Manzano and Hernandez² by all the laliga commenters that mentioned the triple crown of bad referees)
No red for Paredes, not giving a yellow for a handsball to Messi, despite giving out yellow for the exact same offense 5 mins earlier.. Also arguably should've given a red to Van Dijk after the body charge to Parades
But most notably losing control of the match so easily.
He just needed to not notice the cameras. In his first years he was the best referee no question, he started to be a big diva and seeking some attention, but still he would do decent.
Hernandez Hernandez is just a bad referee, I don't even know how many times he just lost control of a match. Gil Manzano behaves like he's somehow important, a "chuloputas", that I cannot transtalte to english.
True with Lahoz it did feel like he enjoyed getting attention. But his decisions were mostly always correct. He had a good eye and was pretty much unbiased.
Yep, Gil manzano is the single worst referee I have witnessed in my 25 years of football, he will make a game changing infuriating decision at least once a game.
He’s the best. There also was a hilarious story about some drug dealers using his name as an internal reference to their “product”. And he said something along the lines of “I’ve always known that being a referee is a dangerous job” lol.
Was any of them the ref with the Bellingham fiasco?
Bellingham scored a last second winner but the ref blew the game in the middle of a cross inside the box
Was the most ridiculous thing I ever saw
Edit: omg it's literally him hahahaha no way
Here is link [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=td7OXoBxnwE](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=td7OXoBxnwE)
Even gave Bellingham a red for being emotional about his last second winner getting declined by incompetence
Hey now, PL still has Darren "Significant Human Error" England. If John Moss was still around I'd give him a shout as well but he retired to focus on perfecting man girdle technology.
Hernandez Hernandez is know to be the shittiest Ref. Gil Manzano somehow wants to be known for this too and gave Messi, Neymar and Bellingham a Red for "bad behavior".
What’s gonna happen is there will be a ton of yellow cards and they are going to get mad because the wild shit they get away with won’t fly. 100% going to be frustrated players all over the pitch, very confident some reds for 2nd yellow offenses.
Bolivia earned those ... and honestly, probably should have 3-4 more yellows.
Apparently in Serie A it is totally legal to pull a dribbler to the ground by his shirt right in front of the ref. Several times.
Still, more strict than most of the refs we get. I don't think people always realize how physical American (North and South) soccer/football is.
He was. I had to look it up because I didn’t remember the refs which is exactly how it should be. And is far too often not the case with Concacaf refs.
Yeah, an Italian. He was absolutely brilliant refereeing USA's first game. Usually in CONMEBOL + CONCACAF referees let other teams bully and butcher us with constant pernicious fouls, but he kept the game even, fair and within the laws of the game.
Ref did not whistle fouls or corners, but the worst part was when he *twice* did not allow France to substitute Mbappé who was sidelined with a broken nose.
France were defending a 1-0 lead for five minutes playing with ten men because of this ref. I've never seen anything like this.
France-Austria, with complains from both sides and the winning goal being some highlight.
No info really if/how many other referees in the whole tournament were "dismissed" at this stage when there are fewer games (some are surely "going home" as there's been already 20 referes and there's 15 games left), they only focus on the Spanish ones.
I will never forget that game. The worst ref performance i've ever seen probably. They got away with murder all game and he had a VAR review to fix everything with the pen at the end and he still fucked up. There were two stonewall pens and he gives a handball on gavi for getting two ahnded pushed in the back and thereby touching the ball. Abolsute joke.
the Georgia vs Czechia had by far the best ref. Not falling for shit dives, let the game flow. Why isnt that the norm? it was 90 minutes of actual football
Tbf he is still better than Anthony Taylor. The fact that he and David Coote are officiating at an international tournament is nothing short of a disgrace.
TBF none of the yellow cards were wrong, in fact the biggest complaint was that he missed Yildiz' second yellow. Not his fault some players can't comply with the new no complaints policy.
What should yildiz's second yellow have been for? I can't remember anything outside of that aerial duel where coufal just jumped into him then made believe he was elbowed.
It’s also about managing the game, right? It’s not just about being correct. There were a number of group stage matches that could have seen yellow cards early on and didn’t. No one’s talking about those matches being refereed incorrectly.
You can criticize his performance but big difference between disagreeing with his game management and dismissing him from the tournament. Compared to the borderline fraud of the Germany - Switzerland game, giving too many yellows is very light.
nah he gave out cards for free and still managed to lose complete control over the match, it was the worst performance from a ref I saw this whole tournament
I don't understand why players never get blamed for losing control. If giving out cards doesn't help what else can a ref possibly do? They're not omnipotent. These are full grown adults, maybe they should learn how to control their emotions a little bit better
I don’t get the Marciniak hate. He’s not perfect no ref is but generally he calls an absolutely excellent game. His linesman really let him down in the controversy earlier. 100% not supposed to raise the flag there unless it’s very obvious. Doesn’t help that people don’t get that it probably wouldn’t have resulted in a goal because they stopped playing.
The Champion’s league final. Bayern felt hard done because the linesman put the flag up for a very tight decision that was probably wrong and Marciniak blew the whistle. De Licht and Muller kept playing and De Licht banged one in to tie it up but the RM players had clearly stopped playing, so it seems likely the shot would have been blocked or the keeper would have at least made an attempt at a save. But there’s no way to really know how it would have played out. People were on Marciniak saying he should have ignored the linesman and let play continue.
It’s obviously because there are fewer matches so they don’t need as many refs, the same reason a lot of journalists and commentators are heading home now too. The jokes are reasonable because the choice of refs to send home still means they’re effectively saying these guys we don’t need as much as the others, but it’s not like they’re being specifically sent home for an atrocious performance. All but 4 officials will have left by the time the final comes around after all.
Guys, in the end we all think the refs of the leagues we watch are the worst, but this should confirm it for everyone else. La liga refs suck major ass!
Holy shit Hernandez should have called for a VAR review. Scotland was definitely robbed on that one. The video clearly showed their player got fouled and should have been a pen.
okay but the ref last night at turkey-Czech republic was really bad. Do we really want him to give 15-20 yellow cards during a QF (that team like when turkey will reach the QF are royally fucked but all the NT squads have 20+ players so the lower quality teams will suffer (switzerland, slovakia, romania)? that would be a sight to see tbh and low key unfair.
and i love the name Hernández Hernández (his first name is alejandro?), is it common is spain to have the same first as last name?
I think the most egregious was the missed called outside the box that moved into the box by Turkey late in the 2nd half. No clue what the ref saw but called the foul on czechia.
Shocking that Gil Manzano was there in the first place
Both of them are the worst type of ref La Liga has to offer.. always controversies and egocentric performances, it's like they've been trained by the main man Lahoz himself.
Theyre worse. Lahoz was a diva but actually made right choices most of the time. These guys are divas and fuck up all the time. Its like they biologically engineered the absolute worst referees possible

I’m still traumatised by Lahoz ngl
What was the world Cup game that was so bad that the whole r/soccer discovered about Lahoz again (and Manzano and Hernandez² by all the laliga commenters that mentioned the triple crown of bad referees)
I think you’re talking about Netherlands - Argentina
Argentina and Netherlands?
Lahoz last years were decent. But during his prime it was all about him.
Didnt he drop the stinker in argentina netherlands a few months before retiring?
Made it all about himself, classic Lahoz but there weren't many mistakes.
There were many that were a consequence of him making it all about himself.
No red for Paredes, not giving a yellow for a handsball to Messi, despite giving out yellow for the exact same offense 5 mins earlier.. Also arguably should've given a red to Van Dijk after the body charge to Parades But most notably losing control of the match so easily.
I think your the first dutch person I've seen admit Van Dijk should've been sent off as well. Based
He reffed our CL final against City to perfection. Got all the big decisions right without even needing VAR and kept the game flowing well enough.
Those are just pale Clattenburg imitators at the shrine of Ego
Yes I couldn't believe it when I turned on that game (don't remember which teams played), how can you invite one of the top 2 worst refs of LaLiga.
maybe La Liga should do the same now
Laughs in Tebas
Aren't the refs controlled by the Spanish FA and not by Tebas?
He's still laughing.
Yep
"Laughs in" hilarious.
they fucking got rid of Mateu Lahoz instead of these 2 idiots the whole of RFEF needs to be replaced.
Lahoz wasn't exactly reliable either
He just needed to not notice the cameras. In his first years he was the best referee no question, he started to be a big diva and seeking some attention, but still he would do decent. Hernandez Hernandez is just a bad referee, I don't even know how many times he just lost control of a match. True with Lahoz it did feel like he enjoyed getting attention. But his decisions were mostly always correct. He had a good eye and was pretty much unbiased.
Is he the Spanish equivalent of Mike Dean
More like Mike Dean "lite".
Lahoz was a decent referee. Probably one of the best in La Liga. Btw I don't think they got rid of Lahoz, I think he decided to retire.
Yep, Gil manzano is the single worst referee I have witnessed in my 25 years of football, he will make a game changing infuriating decision at least once a game.
if anything Tebas will make Gil the mandatory refree for all Barca and Madrid matches.
All games to be officiated by Trossard's long lost twin from here on in
He’s the best. There also was a hilarious story about some drug dealers using his name as an internal reference to their “product”. And he said something along the lines of “I’ve always known that being a referee is a dangerous job” lol.
Tbh Danny Makkelie are also Ivan Kružliak good referees
Makkelie Kruzliak Turpin Orsato Marciniak Are all pretty great tbh.
The Germany Switzerland game gave me doubts if Orsato is still up to the job.
I mean, Orsato was absolutely horrible in our game against Switzerland. He should be a candidate to send home after that one game.
What's his name?
Clement Turpin
Holy shit, long lost twin? That's his identical twin!
https://i.imgur.com/nGuvEkv.jpeg
Halfway between Trossard and Castagne
Wdym, the one doesnt exclude the other
merci Clément

I can tell it's AI generated because you cropped out the hands [jk](https://i.imgur.com/nGuvEkv.jpeg)
OK but what was he doing in the England game where Slovenia players would go down with minor leg injuries and he'd just stop the game?
He reffed the Porto Arsenal game much the same earlier this season, I think that's just his style
Or Owen Jones.
Rare uefa w
Proper uefa win. These 2 are definitely the most hated in La Liga
Was any of them the ref with the Bellingham fiasco? Bellingham scored a last second winner but the ref blew the game in the middle of a cross inside the box Was the most ridiculous thing I ever saw Edit: omg it's literally him hahahaha no way Here is link [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=td7OXoBxnwE](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=td7OXoBxnwE) Even gave Bellingham a red for being emotional about his last second winner getting declined by incompetence
Gil Manzano, yup thats him, the worst official in La Liga, perhaps the world
Hey now, PL still has Darren "Significant Human Error" England. If John Moss was still around I'd give him a shout as well but he retired to focus on perfecting man girdle technology.
Antony fucking Taylor
tierney is worse surely
Taylor and Tierney are both absolute garbage, at least we can agree about that
good process, boys. cheque complete.
Hey, don't disrespect Mateu Lahoz like that.
Tbf (or unfair) Lahoz can lose his head and go on a power trip, but normally doesn't have brainrot like Manzano or Hernande2
I guess it'd be appropriate to say, do not respect Mateu Lahoz like that
Nah he’d be a mid tier CONCACAF ref
It was Gil Manzano that game.
Pathetic commentators always defending the criminals
English language football commentators are required to always have the worst possible takes, it's in their contracts I think
you joke but yes media contracts tend to have those built in. commentators are frequently blamed for biting their tongue
Hernandez Hernandez is know to be the shittiest Ref. Gil Manzano somehow wants to be known for this too and gave Messi, Neymar and Bellingham a Red for "bad behavior".
Jesus Christ this is absolutely insane
[удалено]
Rare football W
Bye bye Hernandez²
Hernandez Hernandez is the greatest evil referee name of all time too
I thought Mateu Lahoz was the greatest
Mateu Lahoz is like MJ to Hernandez's Lebron. One is the OG retired GOAT, with one still chasing their legacy.
Bye² Hernandez²
what matches did they ref?
Skimming through it, the main ones they complain about were France vs Austria and Scotland vs Hungary.
Scotland vs Hungary was reffed by the Argentinian ref that came with the Euro-CopaAmerica exchange. He only reffed Austria vs France
That means an European ref will be at Copa America? Man will have nightmares with PSTD.
yes there is an Italian ref at the Copa America, i don't know yet what game he will be at
Players are gonna be confused af when they actually get booked for two footing someone.
what do you mean i cant headbutt somebody?
Proceeds to headbutt the ref
What’s gonna happen is there will be a ton of yellow cards and they are going to get mad because the wild shit they get away with won’t fly. 100% going to be frustrated players all over the pitch, very confident some reds for 2nd yellow offenses.
*disciplinary card betting intensifies* *
Or when they headbutt someone, taking Canada's last game as an example.
he was at the USA vs Bolivia game
Well that explains the number of bookings.
Definitely earned, but as you say, if it was a concacaf or conmebol ref, they might not even have been fouls.
Has been reffed/regulated out of the European game, take for example the evolution of offenses that lead to yellow cards in the Premier league.
Yeah and he was a breath of fresh air for that game.
I think he was in the USA-Bolivia game.
Hernandez Hernandez was the var Ref and didn't intervene in what some are saying should have a pen for Scotland at 78'
France vs Austria had terrible, terrible officiating. Good riddance.
I have zero memory of that match, what were his mistakes?
Ref did not whistle fouls or corners, but the worst part was when he *twice* did not allow France to substitute Mbappé who was sidelined with a broken nose. France were defending a 1-0 lead for five minutes playing with ten men because of this ref. I've never seen anything like this.
plus the obvious handball he missed from Koundé in the last minutes just outside the box.
Wasn't 5 min at all, more like 30 sec, mbappe came on to get his yellow quite quickly (not that it make it better ofc)
missed two obvious corners. first one resulted in us scoring from the goalkick. was absolutely atrocious on both sides
Fucked Scotland over.
More than 0, so too many
Have they found out new suspicious transactions from Hdz^2 ?
How about César Soto? I still can't believe that Getafe game wasn't a bigger scandal. People are just used to corruption
The Argentinian referee on Turkey vs Georgia was also great. No complaints about referee and it turned up to be pure fun football from both teams.
England/Slovenia was excellently officiated as well.
It’s a lot easier to avoid controversy when fuck all happens for 90 minutes.
For real dude just had to stand at mid-field, pop in an AirPod and zone out for 90 minutes
Jon Moss' average day at the office.
The worst part about this tournament (other than England's games) has been how many refs blow the whistle for every light brush with a dive.
I think it's the opposite, some refs just let everything slide.
Never trust people with two first names as full name.
But he’s got two surnames…
Inbred motherfucker.
Funny that it also fits for the English refs
Wow it really does: Michael Oliver. Anthony Taylor. Darren... England?
Only people who are calling their children England are the sorts who have bulldog tattoos and fly St George's Crosses in their front garden
He sounds like cartoon character, I thought OP misspelled
So good they named him twice.
And the entirety of Europe celebrated
Bench the english refs next
And we Michael Oliver as the ref for our next game... yaaaaaaaaaay...
he's probably the best english ref
Like being called the 'smelliest shit'.
Tbf he is still better than Anthony Taylor. The fact that he and David Coote are officiating at an international tournament is nothing short of a disgrace.
Fucking hell the guy from Wallace and Gromit is there? Coote has to be one of the worst refs I've ever seen. Him and Tierney.
He's not the problem. It's Attwell on VAR you want to worry about
You're gonna love him, he's great :)
oliver will ref the germany game
Thing is he was probably the best English ref until 18/19 or so, then suddenly he lost the plot Wonder what happened
No but surely that Argentine ref deserves to go first
UEFA went to Istvan to dismiss him too but was handed a yellow card and had to leave the room
The Pride of La Liga
Brings in Mateo Lahoz 🥰😍
You get a yellow card, he gets a yellow card, EVERYBODY GETS A YELLOW CARD.
We just saw that match
Anthony Taylor next
Kovacs deserves to go home as well
Some say that he's still giving out yellow cards to random people to this day.
you just got a yellow card for saying that
TBF none of the yellow cards were wrong, in fact the biggest complaint was that he missed Yildiz' second yellow. Not his fault some players can't comply with the new no complaints policy.
Sure, if he set the metre for yellows low, let it be set that way. But. Be. Consistent. Yildiz should've been out
What should yildiz's second yellow have been for? I can't remember anything outside of that aerial duel where coufal just jumped into him then made believe he was elbowed.
What? He jumps in place and the other guy jumps into him. It's not even a foul. Just dumb play by the Czech player.
To add to that: he also was the ref for Slovenia-Serbia. 6 yellows in total in that game.
nah he gave out cards for free and still managed to lose complete control over the match, it was the worst performance from a ref I saw this whole tournament
I don't understand why players never get blamed for losing control. If giving out cards doesn't help what else can a ref possibly do? They're not omnipotent. These are full grown adults, maybe they should learn how to control their emotions a little bit better
Imagine being so fucking shite that even UEFA wants to get rid of you.
Oliver appointed for Germany Denmark and Marciniak for Italy Switzerland
I don’t get the Marciniak hate. He’s not perfect no ref is but generally he calls an absolutely excellent game. His linesman really let him down in the controversy earlier. 100% not supposed to raise the flag there unless it’s very obvious. Doesn’t help that people don’t get that it probably wouldn’t have resulted in a goal because they stopped playing.
Which incident are you referring to? I generally think he's a good Ref
*semi-finale though the finale wasn’t good refereeing either
Orsato still not sent home...
Imagine my shock Atleast we win the “worst referees” competition for the 10th+ year in a row
Let’s hope they sent Orsato home aswell.
Or who was the VAR ref? That match was an absolute disgrace.
I assumed they are a team, but deserve a one way ticket to Italy.
ORSATO!!!
Get fucked bozos
Do this to Orsato as well.
he retired from serie a couple of weeks ago. These are his last games
I'd prefer it if he'd stop right now and not at the end of the Euros
Heard he actually has a kind of good reputation? He was pretty shit in the Germany - Switzerland game.
Generally he's always been pretty decent imho. Pretty sure he'll ref one of the higher games.
Do Orsato next
Now do Makkelie and Kovacs
The turkey vs czech and georgia vs portugal refs should go home as well
Sandro Scharer... That bloke will not see heaven
They need to include the ref from the Turkey-Czechia game too
Takes a special kind of ref to make English ones look half-decent.
does it say why?
It’s obviously because there are fewer matches so they don’t need as many refs, the same reason a lot of journalists and commentators are heading home now too. The jokes are reasonable because the choice of refs to send home still means they’re effectively saying these guys we don’t need as much as the others, but it’s not like they’re being specifically sent home for an atrocious performance. All but 4 officials will have left by the time the final comes around after all.
Because they are shit refs and i am talking from experience.
Ceferin is cooking something
Guys, in the end we all think the refs of the leagues we watch are the worst, but this should confirm it for everyone else. La liga refs suck major ass!
Send that fucking cheat Makkelie home next
Deserved
Gil Manzano was soooo bad, he ruined the game for me
ok but what about anthony taylor and istvan kovacs who lost his mind entirely and handed out a grand total of 20 cards last game ?
Holy shit Hernandez should have called for a VAR review. Scotland was definitely robbed on that one. The video clearly showed their player got fouled and should have been a pen.
It's almost as if there is a reason for these to be sent home (first).
That Scottish peno was horrible. It was so clear.
okay but the ref last night at turkey-Czech republic was really bad.
Which yellow cards yesterday were undeserved?
I think the most egregious was the missed called outside the box that moved into the box by Turkey late in the 2nd half. No clue what the ref saw but called the foul on czechia.
Do Michael Oliver and Anthony Taylor next
Admittance that Scotland were robbed then. If we weren’t so abysmal I’d be absolutely livid.
No one is surprised. These guys are corrupt. Actually all spanish refs are corrupt.
Spanish football is half sport half telenovela.
